Really well done review. And to all the people that say GT5P has bad physics, he is proff that GT5 has PC like physics :)

Gran Turismo 5: Blurring the line

i got GT5P the other day and found some discouraging things regarding the physics. the integra is an FF car and it drives like a cream dream. the thing moves like a gt3 viper. FF always have some high speed understeering issues which simply don't exist for this car with this physics model.

on the other hand, a 500hp SRT10 viper just wants to go straight. in reality, or something even close to it, a FR car with massive torque and horsepower is going to be loose in the rear when the throttle is applied. there's just no way with any sort of realistic engine that the SRT10's ass is not flying around and trying to get you spun when you punch it at low speeds.

i like a lot of things about this new version and lots of the cars move really nice, etc. it's just that as i feared, the physics engine somehow makes frustrating unrealities a part of the game.

the physics motor in gt3 was the most realistic to me the FF's didn't steer too well and thr FR's were loose and overcooked the tires.

anyway, these are just the opinions of your humble narrator. i do have to admit though, that Eiger track is a real sweet piece of work. and racing people online is the best. totally worth the price of admission 👍

well, which physics model did you use for the review? :dunce:
There are actually 2 different physics models in the game - Standard or Professional.
With Professional Physics on, cars' handling are so much more realistic! :)

Good to hear 👍 Are we going to see SRT revisiting GT5p? :)

Well, I am no longer doing any work with SRT, but I can guarantee that AutoSimSport Magazine (one of my other jobs :) ) will have extensive coverage. But I am sure SRT will take a look at it, they have very good coverage of a lot of simulator games and platforms.

If you are interested, we (AutoSimSport Magazine, Volume 3, Issue 5) did a HUGE piece entitled 'Consolestravaganza' covering the PS3, 360, the Formula one game for the PS3 among many other things. Off the top of my head I am not sure which issue it was in, so I will take a look at our back issues, find it, and post back here so you don't have to look all over the place for it LOL.

In fact, for our next issue, I am very likely going to talk a bit about that new Citroen prototype found in Spec III. Well, if I can afford to buy the thing with game money before too long of a time!!

Make sure you're using the recommended tires for the Honda Integra which happens to be N3 to simulate a normal used tires and S1 for a freshly fitted ones. I would also turn off and active steering or assistance (ASM helps to counter oversteer or understeer) to get the best out of GT5 Prologue physics.

Also, what type of tires were you using? If you're using standard physics with sticky tires, every car will stick like glue.

However, if you're on pro physics, cars, even with S2 or S3 tires, I find can be a challenge sometimes....now if you put the recommended street tires on each car (which can be found in the in-game manual), this may give you the feeling of death from a Viper that you may be looking for 👍
