In my tiny, standard car driven mind, its the little details that count.

Totally different car - they even ruined a Lancer.

And their next trick is to make that Lancer look just as good as that in GT7.

I was thinking recently about Kaz's comments regarding "standards". It seems to be assumed they will be the *same* standards imported from GT4 but perhaps it's more likely he means from GT5/6? And some new "premium" cars will be higher quality still?

Mediocre, when you know there is a Premium GTR R32 which could be use to premium it without huge work.
The same for a R33/R34 GTST (doesn't exist in game but easy to add), all mx5's, S2000, S13, S15, Z, R34, RX7 ……
As well there is a Blitz R34 saloon, why not make a stock R34 saloon Nissan even standard ? The same for a Toyota Chaser and TRD.
They are easy implementations which are needed and the result will be a lot appreciate by the community.
I was expecting these in updates but no lol.
Before GT6 I was on Forza and that the 1st thing that shocked me on december 6, as well with the course maker but it is not the subject.

I don't know why the 4-door skyline was axed. Was one of my favorite cars in GT2. The Chaser was one of my favorite in GT3. I did countless races to get that TRD Chaser in each color.

I know what you mean though. I'd rather PD change the bumper and badges if that meant the interior would be the same across all variants/trim levels.

I don't understand these codes. When we choose cockpit view(for duplicates) why can't that car's interior be shown?

I think that this is a referral to the way they model there cars, long time ago kaz commented that they follow the way of the "samurai" something like that and that includes that every car is made from scratch and by the same designer its a ritual that goes with there religion.

Ignoring the resolution issue, PD's texturing ability never ceases to amaze. They are literal wizards. If they did it all the normal way, these cars would look so much worse.

Also, keep up the hyperbole everyone, it so warms the cockles of my heart! :D

They updated the paintjob of the Auto Union Streamliner and added a better quality steering wheel (wich doesn't move though). The rest of the car is still a total mess. PD at its finest.
The steering wheel for it used to not move but it does now after a certain update.

I'm guessing we'll get some generic cockpit view for all these upgraded standard cars?
You mean like the one they already have?

I can't see them making something as useless as a "universal" fully-modeled interior. It just wouldn't fit all cars in terms of aesthetic; so they'd have to make a few to cover the different "types" of cars. At best, that's work better spent making actual interiors. At worst, the interior model itself will have to be scaled and adapted to fit the interior "silhouette" of each car, which is even more effort applied in the wrong direction.

They'll probably continue to improve the look and feel of "black frame" cockpits, which is a procedural system that can be applied to any number of cars. For some reason (likely a rendering hardware / pipeline issue), they were unable to make it the same as it was on PSP (which would nearly suffice), but perhaps that will change for the next game.

I used to think that any Standard not getting a retouched body in GT6 would be abandoned for GT7. Now I think that the semi-Premium cars in GT6 will remain so in GT7; the only distinction PD makes in GT6 is with regards to the interior: detailed or simplified. The remainder will either still be dropped, some will be made full Premium, or some will be made semi-Premium; that is, all of the cars carried over to GT7 will have detailed exteriors, but only some will have detailed interiors. Some will inevitably perish on the journey.
