On the unrelated note, the mustang is the top gear Patagonia replica.

There had have been some updated. I bought a '91 Prelude and it looks semi premium, but "inside" edges of the wjndow look jagged, the door handles are not 3D and the paint on the lower half of the body doesnt look like the other semi premium cars. All the panels on the car look separate though (bumpers, doors, bonnet)

They're all updated to a different level, take a look at Mikhail's comparison shots

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...-bad-and-the-ugly.291012/page-69#post-9333547

Check the Nissan EXA Canopy for example, the wheels are exactly the same as the GT5 version but the body is updated. It's not in the comparisons but I remember reading that the Vectra only had updated window seals and nothing else, so the term 'semi-premium' should probably be expanded to areas such as 'semi-semi-premium'

This is apparently all the cars that have been updated, but I can't find info on the extent of each though

Looks like they tuned down the resolution game runs better and standards have better textures or better reflections and there lines are smoother than before i might be wrong but thats how it looks like to me.

I don't think is proud about these. Would you prefer not have the car at all?

I would. Quality over quantity should be always preferred, especially when going for quantity means huge inconsistencies.

Plus it's not like removing standard cars means they are gone forever. Those cars are always available on GT4 - mind you a game with better tracks than GT6 -, on GT5 and on GT6 too, and PD could add improved (premium) versions of them to GT7 once they are complete.

I mean there's no other game that copypastes content from over 10 years ago, without any sort of improvement. Not even in capcom games you see 2d sprites against 3d models, because that would look like an amateur job, show that the game is unfinished and result in it having Fred Flintstone's and Dino's all over the place, all just like GT5 and GT6 (and seems like GT7 too).

If they'd have actually gone for quantity, they would have made cars to a lower quality, but they'd all have been the same quality.

In going for quality (Premiums, future proofing), they gave themselves a quantity problem (expectations); they plugged the gap with legacy content.

So in reality, they tried to deliver on both counts, but obviously you can't please everyone, and people naturally latch onto the things that irritate them, often ignoring the bigger picture.

In addition, fixing the little quality foibles like the clipping, materials translation, LoD bugs, physics rigging etc. takes time away from producing quality in the form of the Premiums.

If they delete the standards, we will loose so many iconic cars :(
PD is focusing on new cars, and I don't think we will get more than 10 upgraded standards in GT7

The guys working on the game code are the same guys working on modeling?

I don't use interior view so I couldn't give a damn about interiors. If GT7 is all semi-premiums with body mods (a la GT6 Premium) then I will be a happy man. If we're still seeing untouched PS2 models on PS4 then it'll be quite hard to justify their actions, but I'd rather have them than lose them all

I am not trying to troll anyone, but whats bothering me is that no one seems to remember the disclaimer in the start up of the game. While i understand that Standard cars in the game do look unacceptable by this generation's hardware and advancements it clearly states this

Noone is disputing the shape, color or performance from the real car. It's the known performance being disputed in relation to other car games on varying systems and improvements that should be made from past GT games. This is where tuning comes into play. Most tuners feel the stock tune and the tools available should be better than what we have after 15years. In my opinion anyway, as I tune to realistic specs of cars I find in Best Motoring/Hot Version and real race cars.

No disclaimer advising "Oh, and one more thing, the cars may be different from the actual cars by having your driver's feet through the floor..."

Pretty sure that's more to do with legal things then the graphical quality of the content.

Also, every sim racing game has a similar disclaimer so its not just PD.

With the possible (depending on the root cause) exception of LoD bugs, all of those things are things modelers would be the ones to work on.
LoD bugging (due to format changes) would be fixed by repacking the mesh to suit the new format (reader and pre processor)

The tools to automate that would be made by programmers, possibly third party, but the task would be carried out by a modeling expert.

Things like incorrectly setting the min / max / default LoDs are technically content issues, too.

Anything per car is content, basically.

i think the horrid looking cars should just go (alto works for example) but anything that looks ok should stay. (some textures here and there that look horrid need fixing though)

i also think pd spent too much time making unbelievable detailed models in some cases. i think they should have spent more time making the ugly ones closer to the good ones. (some cars not worth making look better like the Exa, Carina, Xantia should just be lost. the time spent improving these could be better utilized (supra, some car i drove yesterday that looked very ugly but was a great car))

That's the thing. We would like to know PD's priorities. Are they so engaged in GT7 that they may be adding motorcycles and that has taken away resources feom the car team? Was GT6 only ever going to be a stop gap to GT7? Were PD sticking to their two GT(minus prologues, Concept GTs, GTPSP) per console rule just for the sake of it? Did Kaz ask too much of his team regardless of maxing out the PS3? Did Sony just want Kaz to hurry and get the game on the shelves/PS Store and sort everything later? All we can do as far as GT6, is wait it out.
