Steam sale thread: Summer 2017 Edition

I don't see why you would have an issue. Perhaps playing games with higher graphics needs, but steam itself... No, shouldn't have an issue. That said, the current round of sales ends tomorrow. Not sure what/if it will continue.
Edit. I may have misread a bit, twinturbo sumed it up best.

This is the first Steam sale in 3 or 4 years where I didn't buy anything. This one just wasn't interesting to me. I have no urge to check it for any games on my wish list.

Maybe that's a good thing, though since I'm tight on money.

I ended up with a decent haul:
Subnautica
Doom
Neon Struct
Polybridge
BlazeRush
Metro: Last Light redux
The Beginner's Guide
Payday 2: the Australian woman DLC

I'm still really disappointed by Just Cause 3's terrible performance and will pick it up again if I ever buy a console, if they fix it or if I get a new system that can run it without the frequent long pauses, but Subnautica has more than made up for it by being a very well put together explore and survive 'em up, it's a peaceful place (so far) but the survival requirements - food, water and shelter - keep it interesting. The last time I played, I'd just built a small alien farm in the hope it'd lead to a sustainable source of food, but so far I've only found eggs for inedible species. I love that that's a thing I can say about a game.

Doom is great too but for (obviously) completely different reasons, it's kind of hard to explain why I like it so much but I think it's because it's refreshing to play a first person shooter that is just about one thing, with id's apparently trademark satisfying combat - not just as far as the guns go, but also in enemies that react convincingly to being shot. It's pure catharsis wrapped in a highly polished game.

I've also played The Beginner's Guide (and finished it), it was good but I'm not going to play it again because that seems kind of pointless. BlazeRush seems decent, Polybridge is like Bridge Constructor but more fun, so far I've only played the demo of Neon Struct but I'm looking forward to getting into the game... But I'm honestly not sure why I bought Metro: Last Light. I might refund it.

I have metro 2033. Played about 20 minutes worth of the game before getting bored with it. The story just wasn't enough.

Waiting on a PC, picked up Football Manager, Rocket League and Euro Truck Simulator just before the sale ended earlier.

Hot on the heels of the probably too specific Halloween sale, we've now got the Autumn sale to contend with. I've already bought Brigador and the Just Cause 3 season pass, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is on my list too but apart from those I feel like I have too much on my plate to justify buying more. I mean I'm already currently playing or wanting to play Just Cause 3, Superhot, Elite: Dangerous, Hitman, Arma 3, Alien: Isolation and GTA Online, so I'm kind of busy. Especially since I maybe get to play more than an hour at a time only once or twice a week.

Seems like a decently broad sale with some surprisingly good discounts on things that haven't even been out long, though.

Yes, I'd missed that it was cheaper for me as I had some of the Civ 5 package already, it wasn't all that clear it was a "me only" price.

Finally got around to buying the Half-Life collection. I also bought Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City & Arkham Origins.

All I bought was Outlast. Still haven't installed it yet. Will it outlast the time it will take for me to forget and no longer care? We'll find out next time...

Got:

- Cities Skylines: 7 euros
- A steam controller: 52 (shipping costs included) euros
- Farming simulator 2015: 10 euros
- Rising storm: 4,50 euros
- Portal 2: 4 euros

That's enough for now :P

I've been trying so hard to like the steam controller. I got on board during the presale. But, after a year of trying, as soon as I picked up an xbone controller, I just couldn't. As neat of a gadget the steam controller is... It sucks.

What were your main gripes? I know it's quite a steep learning curve but i'm quite good with a touchpad on a keyboard already, so i hope that will carry over. If you master it, you are supposed to have a lot more control when aiming or moving cameras in general.

Or that's what i hope at least. I'll force myself to learn it :)
This guys review convinced me:

It's certainly not more control than a mouse. But I have to say, my number 1 gripe is it's overall utilization. Only works when in stream mode, clunky with a fair number of games and has to be custom setup for each game and dialed in. By no means is it plug and play friendly. Even though there is a sort of "mouse" mimic mode, it can be wonky getting it to work. The learning curve is quite steep. I will admit, for FPS, I do find it a better controller than the xbone or PS4s. Particularly when you have the accelerometers in use for fine movements while scoped. But the mouse is superior to that.
The bulk of my experience was with GTA V and rocket league. Once I started using the xbone controller that came with the rift though, I haven't touched it since. Maybe I'll come back and give it another go, but chances are....
All that said, your mileage may, and I certainly hope does, vary. You may enjoy the hell out if it. Especially if you like fiddling with things.

Yeah i can get anal with getting things to my taste :D
I have my PC hooked up to the telly in the living room, so a mouse is not an option. And i never gamed before with a keyboard or mouse so i might as well learn the steam controller then.

ps. last purchase (i promise mom); Medal of Honor Airborne for a fiver extra.

This is such a ridiculous bargain. Good choice!
Comes with the stamp of approval of Worthabuy, loved it when he says he puts all the lazy bastards that go to the stores in their pajamas near the landfill and the industrial waste (5:50):
