Guys what steering mode do you use and what assists?

I use simulation steering, manual with clutch and no aids (using Fanatec wheel). I use this for all my racing.

I want to compare my times with yours, but without this info visible on leader boards, I don't know how good I am doing, or bad.

Tried to search this info but I couldn't find it.

Best regards,

Simulation steering, manual with clutch, that's all, using a controller most of the time, I have a thrustmaster 458 but it is uber duber crap, saving up money for a Fanatec, wich I'm ordering in june

Which one are you getting!?

You will love it :-)

I probaly will, just a shame I suck with money, I already could have had it, o well, It's my 16th birthday in June, all my friends find it verry weird that I'm going to spend all my money on a Fanatec, but I don't really care

It's simulation mode and a gamepad for me. My apartment's too cramped already, so I'm only able to enjoy a Fantec (GT2) at a friend's place.

Needless to say, I envy him :dopey:

Quick question, and not intended to threadjack, but how do you guys use the clutch with a Fanatec setup? I have a CSR wheel, CSR Elite pedals and CSR shifter set but don't know how to set the clutch up.

Switch the asists to manual with clutch in game, then go to controller/wheel settings if needed, but manual with clutch enabld should to the trick :P

It depends whether I am using h-shifter or flappy peddals, sometimes i have auto clutch on, if using flappy pedals, and if using h-shifter then is turn auto clutch off.

Controller only for me, so Normal Steering, Manual (auto clutch), and everything else turned off.

I find simulation steering on the controller isn't any more realistic or "sim," just twitchy as hell on countersteer for no good reason. And trying to heel-toe-downshift on the controller is neither intuitive nor satisfying, so no clutch for me. I'm hardly ever connected to XBL so the acceleration disadvantage in Rivals/online doesn't affect me much.

Kudos to anyone who can play manual w/ clutch on the controller. 👍

Do you know you can change the Gear Down and Up to LB and RB? then it's verry easy, just hold B or A and press LB or RB :dopey:

With throttle and brake on the triggers?
  1. Brake with left finger on LT
  2. Clutch in with right thumb on B or A
  3. Add throttle with right finger on RT
  4. Downshift with another left finger on LB
  5. Release clutch with right thumb
  6. Release throttle with right finger
  7. Continue braking with left finger on LT
  8. Clutch in with right thumb on B or A
  9. Add throttle with right finger on RT
  10. Downshift with another left finger on LB
  11. Release clutch with right thumb
  12. Release throttle with right finger
  13. Continue braking with left finger on LT
  14. Clutch in with right thumb on B or A
  15. Add throttle with right finger on RT
  16. Downshift with another left finger on LB
  17. Release clutch with right thumb...
  18. Repeat for every corner
:boggled:

I can do that with my hands/feet but I don't think my fingers can process that. And I'm an avid gamer and piano player. I'll try giving it another go today.

Using a Fanatec GT2 wheel, simulation steering, manual w/ clutch, zero assists. Unfortunately I like the shifter better on my G25, and the ability to switch from H to sequential with a turn of a dial. Fanatecs needs improvement, still an ultra good wheel though.

I'm on a GT2 with clubsports. Manual with clutch for 99% of cars. I use "simulation" steering on all classes to A600, "normal" for S700 and up and drifting. For me I find the simulation to be more precise on turn in, but find it way to twitchy for my liking past S700.

-edit- Forgot to mention I run with no traction or braking assists.

I went to Normal Steering on a gamepad and the counter-steering was so much more intuitive. Simulation is really good up until the counter steering where its so damn twitchy. I can hardly hold a drift in simulation; but I'll reserve judgement on how good simulation is once I feel it on a wheel.

Eh, it's actually super-easy if you set the clutch to A, and then Upshift to B and Downshift to X. Just slide your finger across the clutch and then to whatever shift you need. Do it right (it becomes second-nature after a while), and you'll hit both the clutch and the shift. After a few laps it becomes incredibly easy, I don't even think about doing it. And I have terrible fingers--I can't even do hard on Guitar Hero or play a piano...

Single player I use simulation, multi I use normal. I use a fanatec GT2, csr pedals and csr shifter with manual clutch

I'm still a bit of the old-school. I use the default steering setting (not simulation), though I use manual, without clutch. A good combination that still has some give to it so you don't have to have surgical precision all of the time.

I use simulation steering with no aids. I use a Fanatec CSR wheel/pedals. I still haven't bought the shifter set yet, so right now I don't use the clutch. Been only using the paddle shifter on the wheel.

I agree, that's far too complicated. Then again, so is shifting gears without clutch.

In response to the OP, I'm using Advanced settings with Shifting set to Auto. And I think that's ABS On, Steering Normal, Stability and Traction Off. Haven't actually fiddled around with it too much, but it works fine for me with my Wireless Speed Wheel. :D
