I know that @Hastatus started these threads after the "completing GT on a budget" threads so it was mainly about spending no cash...I think that's why @MadMax uses the prize cars first. But I agree, a leaderboard of some stock cars would be nice...even just one car we all have a go at. I'm keen to get more cars in my garage so I'd be in favour of something I could add to the garage but I'm easy. To be honest, I like the threads as they are but if change is afoot I thought I'd throw my two cents in :)👍

Oh, I like seeing what the lowest PP stock car to win each challenge is too...for which I applaud you @nowayback for the 419 in the Intermediate, very nice 👍

Ran a Lotus Elise at Tsukuba (DejaVu after the 1 lap seasonal here last fortnight) This was easy and enjoyable.

Silverstun
5 laps at the big long track, started 30 seconds down...
I ran a Stratos but the AI would wake up once I got to them/ passed them. Maybe if I closed the gap slow, then pull a "Proper Nigel" down into Stowe and scrabble home for the win! Maybe
Ran a 448pp V8S TVR - and this again had slow AI that woke up once you mixed it up with them. I did notice my own driving improved a lot - running 2m34 laps, but I managed to improve to 2m30 for the final lap. That alone would not be enough but the lead LFA crumbled under my brutal ABS=0 pressure.

Expert.
Gah - I had a dash in the Honda - Car felt nice, but was painfully slow in the straight line - and the driver was just as slow in the corners (Hell of a team!) and I ended up 4th and 20-30 seconds down.

I blame the supermoon on Sunday

Ok. Here is a draft of the revised Stock info. I really do not want to list exactly what is not allowed to be changed, because the list includes almost everything and that list is just too long. It would feel like a legal disclaimer written in extra small fine print. So maybe a list of permitted changes? I can only think of two: paint and racing numbers.

****
In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

@nowayback and @MisterWeary : Some sort of "Cars of the Week" type deal? I'm a little tired right now so I will have to mull this one over. I think that people should be driving what they enjoy and or simply get car ideas from other posters' recommendations.

Ok. Here is a draft of the revised Stock info...Some sort of "Cars of the Week" type deal?

I reckon the new wording is perfect and a "cars of the week" type thing would also be cool...in the end I appreciate that maintaining threads can be arduous and I genuinely thank you for your work 👍

I don't think I've ever thanked our esteemed threadmaster @Hastatus for his work but it is greatly appreciated. I've knocked up this summary as a way of doing my bit. Now you're all going to think that I made a leaderboard so I could put myself at the top but I really wasn't expecting this to happen. I knew it was a very good car for the PP but I think I struck lucky. And the lout in the LFA didn't quite manage to get back on track in time to clout me off.

Intermediate Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Silverstone Grand Prix - Hyundai Tiburon GT '01 (383 PP CS)

Gt40 Race Car '69 562 (RH) PP 7:31.xxx . Difficult drive, oversteer and sliding, but great top speed and good cornering. Sorry about the budget, but had to try it.

@StirlingMoose , LB was a lot of work, ty .

What was your winning time ?

I've been testing Mazda Roadster 1.8 RS (NB) '98 and my total time is around 14 minutes 8 seconds (got 2nd once , 3rd 3 times)

and

Beginner:

CS 351pp/117bhp/950kg Mazda Eunos Roadster J-Limited (NA) '91 vs M Coupe '98 won by 0.507 seconds with time of 5:16.821 best lap 1:13.001
Took the lead at exit of the right hander before back straith and blocked the BMW for the rest of the lap4.

...Let me know of any errors or additions and I'll update it when I can...
Loving the idea of a leaderboard...I'd be happy to help/contribute in the maintenance of something like that, perhaps @Hastatus would be willing to add something to the OP suggesting a format to post cars/times in...something like:

PP / Driver / Best Lap / Vehicle / Tyres

I notice other things people add are total time, BHP, Weight? Perhaps Power to weight could be auto calculated if we included BHP and weight (I love making a spreadsheet and would be happy to do that).

Intermediate

CS 378pp/153bhp/1070kg Mazda Roadster 1800 RS (NB) '00 13:57.338 vs 430 Scuderia 0.152 sec , Gallardo 0.168 sec behind. Crossed the finish line sideways while blocking the other 2 cars going for simultaneous pass. :sly:

Maybe its easier if everyone just updates their original post with new cars and PP. So whoever makes LB doesn't have to keep searching posts.

Big battle for intermediate !

interesting - a FF car and a FR and a MR and a 4wd car in the inter mix - Temps me to fire up a bit of Rear Engine mayhem - BTR/A110 - I had a Yellow Bird in one race at Silverstone.

quite a nice 5 lap stint that I can see my improvement from just 5 laps.

bit of a shame we only get a few weeks to play before the nasty people at PD steal our fun!

Still... may get a 24 mile Spanish track to hoon about on next

What was your winning time ?

I didn't think to note it but I did save the replay so I can find out later.

I knew my moment of glory would be a short one if you were tempted to have a proper go.👍

Things are hotting up now. I've updated the leaderboard but I'm not going to be around for week or two after tomorrow so someone else might have to take it over.

I've got quite a quiet weekend coming up so I'll try and do some leaderboard stuff while you're away. I like the idea of including drivetrain too...I'll see what I can come up with 👍

EDIT: Okay, had to tinker immediately :) I've attached the Spreadsheet I've created so far so if anyone else wants to have a play with it...but if you have ideas for improvement let me know (note: I will get the P/W thing working next and maybe jazz it up but this is a start, oh, it's ranked by PP too):

Tried to finish right at 5minutes, close at 5:00.121

550pp intermediate

Audi RS 6 Avant '08 518pp

Horrible handling but once in the lead the AI's seemed to scared of it to try to pass back, lol.

Ford Mark IV '67 588pp RH tires
6:39.101 lap, this and the GT40 sound like driving on a dirt road, lol.

Ferrari 330 P4 '67 591pp RH tires
6:29.754 lap, I love this car!! It's amazing stock or modified.

Going to try the stock GT40 and XJ13 tomorrow night.

I've hosted these on my website so instead of having a series of them I'll just host them in the one place, then if I change the image, any posts that refer to them will auto-update 👍

I've also noticed that the figures at kudosprime don't always match the ones we're stating in this thread...I'll stick with the stated ones and just use it to fill in the power/weight figures.

The key to win in nurburgring is to pick a lightweight car, before GTr stealth I've tried with GTR GT3 but is slow and you can't corner right

Beginner Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Tsukuba - 450 PP - SH = MG TF160 '03 @ 377pp [CS] .. Best lap = 1:11.105 :D

A-Spec_Beginners_Non-Racing_Car_Challenge_[TF160_'03].jpg

Also there is this.........

A-Spec_Intermediate-Level_Non-Racing_Car_Challenge_[TF160_'03].jpg

But I don't know if it should count as there was some blatant corner-cutting involved [but not on every lap], tho a few were a bit accidental due to almost completely losing the car getting sideways. :indiff: I did it just for fun.

eww this Silverstone isnt a fun seasonal

seems to run way too long and i find the layout too different from the 2005 spec i'm used to

tsukuba is too easy

This issue should be addressed. When I and a few friends would do PP for money, GT5.... anything on the track was allowed...shortcuts, as lower PP meant more money, Nurnburgring, monza eg. Also will make things more complex to monitor otherwise. Me for one would be for anything goes except for the rules stated by OP.
I dont think it makes much of a difference at Tsukuba, but there are tracks where even a slight cut can make a difference. Decide :gtpflag:Vote or whetever

Personally I wouldn't post a win unless it was clean, i.e. no intentional off-track to gain an advantage. I even try to race fairly with AI although it can be frustrating when they don't reciprocate. But it's impossible to police unless we start demanding video evidence, and we don't want to go there, do we? And where do you draw the line, accidentally putting three wheels off track, unsporting blocking? It's just for fun anyway so I think we just have to say anything goes and let people choose how they want to play it. Ultimately it's up to @Hastatus if he wants to add more rules.

Hmmm....where have I heard that before, :sly:

Quite! Great time in 330 P4 by the way. I'd love to see a video of your lap, not because I don't believe you just because it's just such lovely car to watch. I just hope you haven't painted it pink.

I'm not sure if I saved it but, it is such a beautiful car to drive I will make one if I didn't. Can't paint it Pink, I tried, lol.

I did paint a few other classics though,

In the Nurburgring event, I gave it a try with stock Toyota hybrid T030 detuned @600 PP, driving conservatively with no spinning and no contact passing, ending with 8:05 third place. I am not good at this track at all (too many technical corners and elevation change) but I think you pros can easily win it with the Toyota hybried T030. This car is so so so much fun to drive, and the handling is just awesome out of the box. Together with its smooth and fast acceleration, I am in love with this Toyota hybrid and will use it for many future expert event.

I always see 2 cars banding together blocking the whole road and it is hard to pass them cleanly so I have to wait for them in the back and zik zak in when opportunities open up. Did you guys encounter this?

Beginner: Won with Lotus Elise '11 (395pp CS)
Intermediate: Won with BMW M5 '05 (521pp SH)
Expert: 3rd place with Toyota hybrid T030 :(
