Stock Car Association of North America | Pre-Season Discussion

Thank you to all who participated tonight. It was helpful information. :)

Next week will a better tire test.

Damage set on Heavy is sensitive. You got to be very careful. A small blow into the wall can be catastrophic to your car. We will use Heavy damage for SCANA in Tier 1 & 2. The other Tiers may get the Light Damage setting.

Yes also careful when bumping people I got bumped hard and my rear shocks got destroyed. Didn't affect the car performance though... Just made it bounce absurdly in the corners.

Wish I could've made it Chad. Maybe next time.

Any commentary on mech damage?

I don't know whats Chads thoughts are, as far as implementing it in the league, but as someone who got a lot of experience with it last night, it was pretty impressive.

It seemed, to me at least, realistic. Not every single bump or contact effects you, but if you get into the wall at a good speed, you will notice it. And by notice it I mean, at the lowest level I felt, the cars top speed was effected... by about 10 miles an hour.

The heavier effects, when you get t-boned at 150 mph, will have the wheel almost shaking itself to pieces in your hands as you struggle to horse the car back to the pits.

We only tried it on Heavy though.

And, now that I think about it, I don't remember if heavier damage caused longer pit stops or not.

Yeah, I was impressed by the mechanical damage as well. My rear shocks were blinking red and going 160+mph in the turns the screen and wheel were shuttering heavily(like double vision). The car was still controllable, just a handful.
Heavier contact to the wall and my alignment went to hell. My wheel was jacked to the right after a pretty solid smack. It sounded like crap at real low speeds too. Whining and grinding sounds.

I think a flag system and a pace car would do well to be integrated for races.

The flags and pace car can be added. However, we have to remove 1 or more drives from each Tier for that to work. Unfortunately, we cannot have more than 16 people in 1 room at the same time. Regardless of them racing or not.

It bites, but its what we got. I am pretty sure the official number of drivers will shrink from 16 to 12-14. Unofficial at this point.

I think its best we have 1 pace driver and 1 race stewart (watches the race and controls the flag system.)

I am highly disappointed that a flag system is not present in GT5. It makes no sense not to have one. Most racing series uses some kind of a flag system. But like I said, we will make due with what we got.

I am looking forward to NTG:2011, I think SCANA will do better with that game.

I was thinking about NTG11 as I read the damage reports above. Not to derail this thread. But, as you said we'll probably have better chances of running events when that comes out next year.

Regarding the damage comments and wheel shake: I'll probably have to turn down the FFB on my G25 as it sounds like this is rough on the equipment and I can't afford to replace my wheel nowadays. Still, I'm glad that damage is now a part of this series.
