IM NOT TRYING TO TELL ANYONE HOW TO PLAY THIS GAME. JUST STATING AN OPINION...

First off try to use sport packs on some of the cars... they sound totaly differant!!! Also pay attention to the tires the car has stock!!! i run on sports tires 99% of the time, unless im driving a race car or a X2010. GT5 is not about Max BHP... If you dont want a vacuum cleaner sounding car watch the exhast & intake you use... if you try to use racing everytime your cars will sound the same

As you see here thy to tune more relistic cars....

You have paid good money for your game, and i have also paid good money for my game so dont tell me how to play my game.

I kind of have to agree. I'd really like to see cars that are slightly modded. It's basically a totally different car after it's all done. I mean I know the goal is to make it better, but some cars are just overdone.

Oh, Ok Mr GT5 Police.

I find this topic and comment pointless.

also if you have no idea about suspetion dont buy custom... try sport suspention. About over tune go buy a Tom's Supra and see what parts it wont let you put on the car...thats because not all parts go on one car and not all cars a race cars

I'm all up for using the best sounding exhausts and sports tyres, but you cant tell everyone to do the same thing. Encourage people to try it through organised contests or by posting tunes of your own. Don't try and dictate what people do with their game, because they'll just turn against you, as you've seen above.

You understand what i mean.... its funny to see a person trying to control a car that is way too equiped with parts that dont go to the car

Who are you to tell people what they should do ? I agree with you on the basis but the way you write it is very wrong.

You seems to forget too that people like different stuff. Lots of people dont care of the sound of the car or if it's a challenge to control.

It gets your attention doesnt it?

That's why people compensate for it with racing tyres. People are reluctant to try sports or semi-racing parts because they're "worse" than the racing stuff.

Whilst I agree with the OPs sentiment, I also agree with most other posts. Your tone is antagonistic and you're just going to get people's backs up by trying to dictate to them. I'll understand though if English isn't your first language.

But to your point. I agree, throwing everything on a car is not always the best approach. My buddies and I meet up once or twice a week to race online. We pre-agree limits and restrictions. These restrictions are on vehicle type, maximum power output, minimum weight allowances and tyre choices. My buddies moan endlessly that I always restrict production type cars to Sport Softs, at best. I don't agree with running regular cars on slicks. Tuner cars, or outright race cars are fine, in fact I'd never run them on anything less than slicks (compound may vary, hard, soft or medium).

Applying some self imposed restrictions makes for some interesting racing. You have to consider what you want to do to a car in order to make it competitive, rather than just slapping everything on it.

Regards the sound of the different exhausts, can't say that's a priority for me, I chose what is suitable for the vehicle and circumstances...

Na I just got too much free time at work :P

But again I do agree lol if you search a bit the forum you'll see that I asked for lower HP tunes because I think people are putting too much part on most car, specialy on turbo's/supercharger's.

I like 300-500 HP cars the most personaly but the way you say it is just wrong and most of the people wont care just because of that which is a shame.

That's because the car is already tuned quite a bit.

By your logic, we should go: "Amigad, I can't put a superchargher on my F1! That must mean that it's not a race car!"

@OP

You know you can take most of that stuff off, right?

I'm assuming most people tune up or down based on what mood they are in. Sometimes I want to race my RUF like a drag racer and sometimes I want to drift it like a go kart on ice.

I guess I don't get the complaint.

I still do not understand why people refer to engine upgrades and other mods as "tuning" I can't tell you how many people I have saw who talk about a tuned car and the car is not actually tuned at all. Instead it is modded out the wazoo and drives like crap.

Tuning is not upgrading, It is making changes to the settings on the car. It would be so much easier to understand what people are talking about if they would simply use the correct terms.

*Whisper* It's Suspension, mate 👍

+1 👍

I think I'm the only one who referred to it as modding. Although, I'm sure everyone here knows what he's talking about.

Probably because the place where you buy the mods is called the Tuning Shop.

IRL you can tune your engine. In fact if you just slap a turbo in your car with out proper engine tuning, you'll grenade your cars engine. When it come to engine tuning, you tune the amount of fuel being put in each cylinder based of of the amount of air flow your getting, your controlling when the spark plugs are firing, when your intake, and exhaust valves are opening and closing.

The problem is that people aren't differentiating between real life and GT5. In GT5 you can't tune your engine, as you have pointed out. The only thing we have control of is the drive train and our suspension. In GT5 tuning means suspension, and drivetrain. IRL you have suspension, drivetrain, and engine tuning to grapple with.

And on the Sports vs Racing tires issue. I think once your get past a certain HP you need the extra grip. Try racing a fully modded Supra RZ on Sports Softs. The Supra's 725hp (really makes me mad that pd limited the Supra, IRL their are a couple making well over 1000BHP) will roast the Sports Soft tires in the corners because of it's massive acceleration.

A point of preference. I have a Nissan R390 that I am tuning at the lowest HP I can use, 504, with racing hard tires. The tune is track specific, Grand Valley. My goal is to run sub 1:53.xxx with it. I have managed to get it to 1:54.485. The lowest setting shows me the potential of the car. Once I figure out how to get there I will have something to build on for the next level. I tend to tune cars with the original tires and issued equipment. I try to use as much of what the car came with before going crazy with the modifications. In some cases I have re-purchased cars because the weight reduction was overdone and made the car too twitchy. So, in as much as the OP appeared to be over bearing, his sentiment bears some attention; only to demonstrate that as a game about driving simulations go, its only a game.

i dont get how people say all the cars sound the same!! if you use the best camera view on the game which is in my opinion the bumper view you hear the engine better(Not the Exhaust) and they all sound different! give it a try!

If you equip all the same turbos, intakes and exhast, your cars will sound very much the same

I'm one of those who doesn't go overboard with engine upgrades. Most of the time many cars cannot handle gobs of power and handle pretty badly because of it.

When i upgrade my cars i will purchase these engine upgrades.
1.Stage 1 Engine
2.ECU
3.Sports Intake
4.Racing Air Filter
5.Titanium Racing Exhaust
6.Sports Header
7.Sports Catalytic Converter

90% of the time with these upgrades your car has pretty good power and can handle very well. Also depending on the room i'm in i'll be using Sports Soft or Racing Soft tires.

Trans whine overpowers the engine 90% of the time... You don't know what the car sounds like until you put the stock gearbox back in.

I'm not saying that putting turbos and whatnot on a car doesn't change the sound, I'm simply saying that cars won't sound the same.

And if all you can hear is the whine overpowering the rest of the engine, then you too need ears.
