I know none of my classmates would ever even think about doing that. Surprising in Britain really as we don't have corporal punishment.

She didn't but she also doesn't deserve $100,000 for it, not that I care. All she deserves is an apology.
True, she probably doesn't deserve it.

But hey, it turned this story of a disgusting, young generation of America into a heart-felt story that there is still hope for humanity in this country.

I suppose she deserves whatever people are willing to give her, right? That would be the only fair way to cut the cheese, to let anybody make their own decision on who to help, how to help, and for whatever reason they like.

This was in Greece, not the US.

That's quite a thick Greek accent they have. :sly:

Well, that video was disgusting. I remember when I was in high school, there was one kid that was essentially the "anti-bully". Whenever a small kid was getting picked on by a bully, he would step in and defend him. On another occasion, an idiot I went to school with drove a teacher to tears and he proceeded to destroy this idiot. Too bad he got suspended for it. 👎

I'm amazed that there are still people in this world stupid enough to do something like this and film it. Life will understandably be a misery for those kids in that video. That poor woman didn't deserve that kind of treatment. After all, she's a volunteer who is there to make sure the kids are okay. Those kids have to be disciplined. Perhaps their parents should be forced to attend a mandatory "good pareting" course.

Going slightly off topic, when I was 6, my primary 2 teacher had a nervous breakdown in the classroom. A friend and I arrived late for school one day and went to class to find our teacher almost in tears. Some of the other kids in the class had been making fun of her. My friend who was late to class with me (and is actually one of the nicest guys on earth) didn't realize the teacher was upset and said "Nice hairdo miss". What was meant as a polite compliment to our teacher on her new haircut, was taken completely out of context. The poor woman snapped and started screaming and crying, then ran out of class. I can still remember that awkward silence afterwards. But it just goes to show that kids can be idiots long before their teens.

I've had a few ugly brushes with some genuine scumbags in my school. My way of dealing with their taunts was, "They'll be on the dole for their whole lives." I suppose their bullying was derived from a sort of anti-intellectualism. I wear glasses, so I look nerdy, and I am of above-average intelligence. I wouldn't say it's hours of playing CoD each day that turns them into scumbags, but rather it's parental neglect.

I haven't heard of any examples of teachers getting repeatedly harassed by students in my own school, though.

There have been occasional teachers being harrassed at my school, such as pushed and locked in cuboards ect. All of those done by chavs who were duely giving long exclusions from school. (Most of those teachers though were complete prats to use a nicer word.)

I can't believe how nasty they were to a women though who has never seemingly done anything wrong to them, the teachers above were mostly unfair, nasty and overall bad teachers. This women is doing this job for next to no money to keep these kids safe and all they do is take the piss.

I have had banter with some of my teachers, taken the piss out of some of them for a bit, but there is a huge gap between that kind of joke where you stop long before they get upset, and this incident where they drive an elderly women to tears and then still keep on going, even the chavs in my school I doubt would go that far.

I really hope someone goes and beats the crap out of them, or at least they are found, punished by the authorities (school or court). One good thing though is that once the video went online anonymous found their identities and contact details, so I guess they won't have much peace or quiet for a while as all of their emails, internet, ect will probably be hacked.

I always ignored it and walked away. People will talk trash all the want. I know most of my friends would back me up anyone if I ever got in a fight. It's just so weird how something like this gets out all over the world....Especially near me. Only about 45 miles away, so half hour drive-ish.

This. If I were her, I'd gratefully accept the money, and go to work one last time to flip the bird to all the little brats who'll grow up to be nobodies. Karma.

If it were one of my kids caught being that disrespectful, they wouldn't be able to sit down for a week!!! Totally uncalled for!

Dr. Nickerson suggests that discipline, in this case, must be swift and severe - but admits it will be hard to do since school is out for the summer.

BS! Where are the parents? Why is it that it is only the schools responsibility to discipline these kids?

On this subject I have stories, ohhh my.....

On this: it is pretty disgusting,no doubt, there are borders that don't need to be crossed. On the other end, I don't think the kids know that she has a son that took his life, and I don't know if in the moment they realized what they were doing. Growing into adolesence you evolve from : doing and than thinking or not thinking, to , thinking and then acting. Then in these situations things shape up to this disgusting scene nobody wanted to begin with.
But this is absolutly no excuse for the kids in this case.

I wear glasses, so I look nerdy, and I am of above-average intelligence

Me too, and am kind of skinny, but that never stopped me being part of the non bullied kids.

In fact, I was on of those that stopped bullies from hitting nerds. As I were part of the "cool" (that sounds so lame) gang, I was kind of respected in my school. Everybody knew us (the foreigners)

2 years ago at a party a guy came up to me and thanked me for protecting him more than 10 years ago. The guy never forgot that. It was quite touching for me.

In my english class back then, one of the wierd kids, half "cool", threw a screw at a teacher. The guy was small and quite sensitive. He start crying and left the classroom.
Two friends and me stood up, walked up to the guy who threw it, and punch him right into the face. 5 minutes later, a educator from the secretary came in to say class was suspended and yell a bit at us. When she saw the guy bleeding from the nose and whinning, she smiled and didn't say a thing.

Most of those teachers though were complete prats to use a nicer word.)

Another one, I as in sport section, and we had a real xenophobe ass as atlethic teacher. Because he gave me wrong points (very low) despite being better than the average who scored better we kind of got into a fight. He blocked my arms on the back and wanted to throw me out of the gym. In front of the door I turn around with a bit of power and the guy hit the frame with his head.
Walked away with 2 hours staying after school.

I have plenty of stories like that.
Kids and bullies always existed and always will. But there are better people out there and real assholes and lot of inbetween, not all black and white.
I always tried being a good person, though it also happend to me to be a prick

But it just goes to show that kids can be idiots long before their teens.

Kids are idiots because their parents are idiots. I know what I am talking about. (Not that it would apply to me). Today's biggest problems is the self centered ego crap everyone is living. Parents don't care for their children, their children won't care for anyone else except themselfes, it-is-that-easy. Sometimes I really hate humanity, our self-esteem problems are reaching new heights every decade for sure, next to stupidity and laziness of course...

BS! Where are the parents? Why is it that it is only the schools responsibility to discipline these kids?

This my friend, this.

Edit: A little "theory" from me: The human is a system, a system driven by love, and without a love input, there most likely will be no love output. Thus, if there is only ego and hate input, there will only be ego and hate output. Simple.

You lack creativity. Step onto the bus wearing a suit and top hat, flip the brats the bird, step off the school bus and onto another one with "I have $100,000. You have acne and crippling insecurity" painted onto the side.

This just saddens me.

Seems like the only people left who actual have any respect for others are most of the Juniors+Seniors and maybe half the Sophmores from last school year. Freshmen, upcoming freshmen, and middle schoolers seem to be the worst - maybe because they're so goddamn short? :sly:

My friend - who isn't one of those inbreds - has been offered crack, coke, meth, etc. numerous times at his middle school (and so far he hasn't taken any).

This only enforces my hatred for the next generation - many of them are just ignorant pricks who have nothing else to do but be a 🤬 to everyone.

I hate middle schoolers with a passion that burns with the heat of a thousand suns. They think they're on top of the world and no one can tell them otherwise. Happily, they usually get straightened out when they hit high school.

They're what I call the "yes" generation because as they grew up, their parents never said "no" to them, never properly punished them, and therefore, the kids never gained any respect for them. When I grew up, if you stepped out of line, you practically got whipped.

Lovely generalizations there.

Not all Middle Schoolers are like that.

This is ****ed, that lady really didn't deserve to go through that. Yet I can't say it's surprises me that something like this happened. Middle school kids have absolutely no respect for people older then them, if they keep it up their gonna get their asses kicked in high school. But it's a shame that the parents probably will just ground them and not actually discipline them, if I would ever do something like that my dad would beat the **** out of me.

Stop acting like a total smart-ass. Feel adressed? Generalizations are there for a reason. As if you wouldn't know what he was trying to say...

Again, not every Middle Schooler is like that, just because many are, doesn't mean all. It would be much better if he said, "This is why I hate most Middle Schoolers."

It's no different then saying all Mexicans are illegals, or all White people believe in White Supremacy. Just because some do, doesn't mean all do.

This.

This is the kind of thinking that causes this stuff to happen in the first place.

Don't you know? You're not supposed to spank kids these days. It hurts them emotionally & you should always be positive with them.

I do agree with you.

Sad reply to this but I think it's simple. Parents just don't have the time anymore to discipline their children ( A harsh  ) Like really ?!?!?! . It's just to easy to dump them off at school and let the teachers raise their kids. Or just let them be and learn on their own.

Is it you'll hurt them emotionally or are the parents just to afraid to discipline their children anymore ? The way some state laws are anymore, your not allowed to discipline your children anymore. Now it's called child abuse, not discipline.

Some of the laws we have in this country are just plain old 🤬 up.

Made me think of this.

Those students are truly cruel and malevolent (didn't watched the video, though).

The middle school I attended had students similar to those delinquents, but surely they don't push to a point to insult an elder or an adult (a few do dare for the sake of 'holding their rep'), which meant that the students' parents knew how to enact discipline onto their children - just that the school will have to handle most of the mess. This echoes a food fight that happened days before my last day there (thank gosh).
