Who else is watching this tonight?

Any favorite to win?

Whoever the winner is, I'm amazed with how well Tom Petty is playing. :sly:

I've been watching a majority of the playoffs, so of course I'll be watching. In fact, I am watching the game right now. The Lakers are struggling on offense and the Suns couldn't miss a shot in the first quarter.

All true vash (I'm watching the game as well, obviously  ).

I think one of the most important stats to look at right now...

3 pointers
Lakers: 6/21 (might be 4 because I just heard "4 of 23")
Suns: 6/13

That's some bad shooting by the Lakers.
To make matters worse, 3 or 4 of those were from Kobe in the first half (which he hasn't matched so far in the second half).

Should be an interesting finish to this game.
Let's see how it goes. :D

Indeed they did and normally I don't watch Basketball ... Normally it would be a "waste of time" to me.

However, tonight. :sly:

Getting to see Kobe lift his hand to his ear and make a smirk as he shot free-throws, then getting to see the total defeat and shame on his face at the end of the game...

That look of shame on Kobe's face made the last 2 hours of my life worth missing most of cartoon networks line-up (but only barely).

At any rate, I'm happy to see the Suns move on.

The Lakers got completely dominated tonight. I really did not expect the Suns to come back and win this series at all, after being down 3-1. I had already penciled in the Lakers to face the Clippers. Definitely a surprise and great job by the Suns. But it should also be said, that no one outside of Kobe or Lamar Odom picked up their game in the last three games of this series.

The Clippers-Suns series ought to be an exciting one, with lots of points scored. I watched a Clippers-Suns game earlier in the year and just remember the Suns putting up a whole bunch of points in the game.

Please refrain from any and all Kobe-dissing please. He is still hands down the best player in the league. Although I too am curious as to why he only took 3 shots in the 2nd half. One theory is after the criticism he took after taking 35 shots in game 6, he decided not to shoot all the time, almost a "look what happens when I don't take a lot of shots" kind of deal. Kobe is still my boy. He'll be back.

Kobe can be bit arrogant, but he is nowhere near the jerk guys like Bonzi Wells or Rasheed Wallace are. I think "the best player in the league" argument by Saleen can be argued :D , but there is no doubt, he is one of the best offensive players in the history of basketball, period.

Like Vash, I expected Lakers to take the series after the 3-1 lead, but I've been also wrong about the Pacers - Nets Series, which I'm sure made Saleen(a Kidd fan) a very happy guy. :(

I don't have cable, so I couldn't watch the game(thanks, ABC 👎 ), but I was surprised to hear Kobe score so little in the second half. Without Kobe, there really isn't that much to the Lakers. Unless you include the coaching staff, of course. ;)

I would enjoy a "best player in the league" argument, but let's save it for another thread. ;) The Lakers definitely need to get Kobe some help for next season, Kwame Brown clearly should've gone to college, ha. It'll be interesting to hear what he says about taking only 3 shots and scoring only one point (technical free throw) in the 2nd half.

:D:tup:

Yeah, I'm really interested in Kobe's interview, since I didn't get to watch the game.

If Kobe really did only take 3 shots for the sake of showing the city what happens when he doesn't shoot... :irked:

He is without a doubt, the most selfish, arrogant, worthless piece of dog poo on the planet.

No one worth an ounce of respect would ever throw away an entire season for the sake of saying "hey, you hurt my feelings yesterday and now I'm not gonna play so you know how I feel!" (stamps feet like little 10y/o)

I'd go with the "Kobe lost his confidence and got stuck in a downer" before the "Kobe was showing us what a selfish jerk he is" excuse.

Of course, that's just me... Maybe Lakers fans preffer to see Kobe as a 10y/o immature brat instead of a basketball player that gave up when he was down by 20 at the end of the first half.

In either case, he definately proved with that single performance that he was not the best player in the league this year.

Remember, negatives always weigh more than positives. :ouch:

Same with Kobe...
Save the game a hundred times- 👍
Lose the most important game of the season- 👎 👎

I don't think Kobe was throwing the game away. In the second half, as soon as he touched the ball, he had two guys all over him. It wasn't exactly going to be easy for him to get open and get off a half way decent shot. But there still isn't any real excuse for why he only took three shots. Being the best player on a team necessitates more than three shots per half. I wouldn't be surprised if 16 field goal attempts was his season low for the year.

Seems like to me the whole Laker team just didn't have the fight in them that they should have had. None of them played with the urgency of playing in a Game 7. I really was disappointed with the Lakers performance after being up 3-1, especially in the last two games, as they all but rolled over and quit.

The truth is, the Lakers were no match for the Suns in the first place. Heck, without Kobe, Lakers wouldn't have been in the Playoffs in the first place.

Also, your logic of "losing the most important game of the season" makes no sense. Players like Parker, Odom definitely helped, but it was Kobe that took them as far as they did. To have taken the Lakers to Game 7 against one of the top teams in the West alone was quite an accomplishment.

It was a definite accomplishment for the Lakers to get as far as they did. Having said that, Kobe carried the Lakers the entire year. Lamar Odom only stepped up towards the end of the year. Smush Parker was all but terrible in this series, except for the steal against Nash. Outside of Kobe and Lamar Odom, the rest of the Lakers team needs a lot of work.

As far as I was concerned, Odom was another overrated, overhyped player until I saw him play against Marion. I have a lot of respect for Marion, but boy did Odam keep him in check. Question is, can the Lakers rely on this guy next year? Lamar Odom/Consistency? I'll believe it, when I see it.

I agree with you on Odom, up until the end of the year and the playoffs, he was all over the place with his performances. He could be extremely great and at other times, you would wonder if he is even playing in the game. I'm curious as to how well Odom will play this next year. I wonder if he will continue to play well like he has been recently or if he will revert to his former, all over the place, no one knows what he will do, performances.

Driftster
and Kobe got his azz clotheslined last game...hahahah

And it was an absolutely stupid foul and should have never happened. That type of foul should not be tolerated and it was properly dealt with by the league. Hard fouls are great, in fact, I like hard fouls. Hard fouls should happen in the playoffs, but what Raja Bell did to Kobe was completely uncalled for.

The elbows are completely uncalled for too, stop putting words into my mouth. I was only commenting on your praise of Raja Bell's clotheslining of Kobe, not on anything Kobe had been doing.

I say they should BOTH be suspended......

I personally am glad raja got suspended..

but I'm also glad kobe got the line!!!

Have you heard kobe's arrogant azz response to what happened?

"Does who know who i am? Do I know him?"

Actually I found both Kobe's and Raja's response to be pretty funny, though Raja's was much more humorous.

Driftster
"Does who know who i am? Do I know him?"
He said what?

I've heard that Kobe used to like Bell, and have tried to pursuade the management to land him in L.A. when Bell was an free agent.

Did you not hear either of their comments on the foul? I think both of them were said in jest. But Raja's was definitely the funnier of the two. Kobe's did come off as a little arrogant, but I found it kinda funny.

Did Kobe actually say that, way he was quoted by Driftster? I don't get it.

I think Kobe may have said something along those lines, but I do not think that is directly what he said. I had seen the interview of him saying it, but I also do not remember him saying it in a very serious manner either.

Well, here's that quote by Driftster again:

"Does who know who i am? Do I know him?"

Was this more like, "Does he know who I am?" and then "Do I know him?", as in "am I supposed to know who he is?".

I think it should have been "Does he know who I am" because "Does who know who I am" makes absolutely no sense at all. I completely missed what you were trying to say. :dunce:

I loved what Kobe said in an interview they showed during Game 7. They asked him about Bell, and he said he's a good defender, and he doesn't want to take anything away from his abilities but "I can score on him whenever I want". Haha, it was pure gold. I love Kobe. It's that confident/cocky/arrogant attitude that everyone hates that he really needs to have. If you want to be the best at something, you first have to believe that you are. Coaches always told me to go out on the floor with the mindset that you're the best player out there. Basketball players and athletes in general need that mindset to be successful in my opinion.
