Super Unofficial DiRT 4 Thread (PS4/XB1/PC)

That's confirmation of a sixth circuit for rallycross, which is good because rallycross felt really under-developed in Dirt Rally with only three circuits, and the initial announcement of five circuits - the original three, plus Loheac and Montalegre - was pretty disappointing because it didn't really add much, especially for a game with an official licence. Six circuits is a little bit better, but it would be nice for a much more complete roster.

He said Montalegre is a new addition alongside the 3 tracks from DR, maybe the surprise he meant was gameplay of Loheac, I don't think they had put that out before.

btw I don't understand why they will be putting out the game with year old cars/teams again, it wouldn't happen with F1 or any other licensed racing game. Can't be good for IMG or the teams.

Loheac and Montalegre were included in the launch announcement.

Because they have the licence for the World Rallycross Championship, and those teams and circuits are a part of it.

Did they show gameplay back then too?

Because they have the licence for the World Rallycross Championship, and those teams and circuits are a part of it.
Those teams are part of FIA WRX this year too, would it not be beneficial for the championship and the teams/their sponsors to have their most up-to-date cars? You wouldn't play F1 2017 this year if it only had 2016's cars.

Did they show gameplay back then too?
No, but they were confirmed by Codemasters regardless.

Almost certainly, but some teams are only just launching now and it takes time to develop liveries while Codemasters are releasing the game in June.

No sight of a Polo yet. Wonder if VW's still feeling tender about brand exposure... Scratch that there apparently is.

Please let the hatch impreza R4 still be in the game, I don't care if it's a copy and paste even.

That is a bit my only complaint. Too much stuff from Dirt Rally being re-used. I hope there will be some additional non seen cars or changes to the list.

Really good footage, the Dirtfish area looks like a lot of fun. Would have been nice to have some multiplayer party modes from DiRT 3 thrown in there too.

Looking very good.

Shame they're charging over 80 dollars for it here :/

I'm not paying that. Will have to wait for a good sale.

The your stage part brings a lot of variety to the game. Anyone else agree that for the cars they could have gone a bit further than a simple copy/paste from Dirt Rally? Maybe I am wrong but with so many rally cars Codemaster could have digged a bit further and bring some less known but great rally cars to the public.

I think that this will be my next game that I buy. The early access videos have done a good job of impressing me. I just would like to see the full car- feature- list a.s.a.p. so I can make the final decission.

Currently playing Dirt Rally and it really gets me in the mood for some new and additional rallying with some fresh stages.

edit: Paul Coleman has confirmed that Dirt4 won't have a photomode included.
edit2: More replay options in Dirt4

The new service/repair system seems to be everything I could hope for.

  • Percentage system gone.
  • Quick fix parts with the risk of failure
  • Replace completely but takes more time
  • Your crew can underestimate how much time is needed, so you can end up with penalties.

Besides a few missing Lancer Evos and Toyotas, I think Dirt Rally had a near perfect car list, so I hope they don't cut anything, only add to it for Dirt 4.

I would not judge the physics of Dirt 4 until is possible to try it. Is very difficult to clarify the depth of the tyre model by watching videos. Only with certain tests like moose test, donuts or turning the wheel at maximum steering when driving fast to test the understeer would be possible to figure out.

But in Dirt 4, is impossible to know how the physics are, because it could be simulation mode or arcade mode.

Obviously we can't truly judge anything til we try it :)

I'm going to be using sim mode the whole time.

That dealership idea is actually really cool. Reminds me a lot of the used car lot in the various GT games. Wish it was present in some of Codies' older GRID titles, like Bring A Trailer sort of thing.

Sorry, browser crashed while I was trying to post.

Has there been any confirmation of online rally mode? Codemasters has stated that all disiplinces will have online modes. But they have also re-stated the improvement in league play. I want PvP rally mode. My 100-member argentine league is sick of the same stages in DiRT Rally and the restart trick by closing the application. We want Your Stage in leagues with no possibility of the reset/restart trick, and we also want live PvP stages/rallies. Does anyone know if this has been confirmed?

We have gotten so tired of league play that we have gone to organizing rallies in Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo. I really hope that in D4 we can set up live PvP rallies with Your Stage. That would be countless hours of online fun!

I wonder why the Audi a1 hasn't been shown, unless it's not in the game yet
It wasn't on the list of RX Supercars in the video either. The Audi S1 comes from Mattias Ekstrom's team and I think he has/did have a relationship with EA/Need for Speed (but then again so did Ken Block and his Focus is in). The Audi A1 is from Robin Larsson's private team and IMG aren't really interested in them.
