[As usual, if anyone would like to volunteer to take a picture (of any of the cars), it will go here :)]
Many thanks to LancerEvo7GSR for the picture!

Race Specifics

  • Arcade Mode Time Trial - hotlap
  • Power: As follows for each car:
    • CarbonR: Any (477 to 713 HP)
    • S2000 GT1: 0% (502 HP)
    • Blitz: Any (374 to 560 HP)
    • Mine's: Any (473 to 710 HP)
    • Option Stream Z: Any (607 to 909 HP)
  • Weight: -10% (CarbonR: 1010 kg; S2000 GT1: 1062 kg; Blitz: 1062 kg; Mine's: 1206 kg; Option Stream Z: 1296 kg)
  • Tire Type: S2
  • Driving aids and transmission mode are open.
  • Test out as many of these cars as you want, choose the one(s) you find to be fastest, and go for the best time you can (in each, if you want to try hard in more than one). In whichever car you end up setting your fastest time, submit that car and lap as your final time.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time.
  • Please PM me your final time and which car you used by Tuesday June 23 by 11:59 pm GMT (world clock).

Series General Rules

  • All six races will be run in Arcade Mode, using a variety of the fastest road cars in the game (including some tuned and concept cars; also, most cars will have stock power and -10% weight), and each will last one week, with a submission deadline of Tuesday.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time.
  • Discussion of times in the race thread during the week will be limited to split times (T1, T2). Final times are not to be discussed and must be submitted to me by PM before the week's deadline.
  • Please save your best lap replay in case I request proof, which is unlikely but possible. Unlike last series, since there were no problems, I will not require photo proof of the winner. However, I reserve the right to request a photo of a time if I am suspicious of it.
  • Each race will award points towards the overall championship standings to all who submit a clean lap/race time, with the winner receiving 10 points, second place 8, third place 6, and fourth on down each separated by 1 point (5, 4, 3, etc.). No points will be awarded to a non-submitting driver. You do not have to announce your participation in the championship beforehand: anyone may participate in a race and be counted into the championship points, even if you do not plan on running all the races; similarly, there is no obligation to participate in every race. The driver with the most points at the end of the six races will win the championship.

This combo should be much more accessible than Race 1, hopefully meaning more participation. I know the option to set the power to any level you want in four of these cars seems a little odd, but it is a tuner car showdown (so you can use quick tune to do whatever you want with the horsepower to make the car go faster :dopey:). However, you may wish to recall the old adage, "power is nothing without control." When you test these cars, one will emerge as an obvious contender, but don't rule the others out; I can get three of them to almost the exact same time. You may not discuss the car you use, just to add a bit of suspense and mystery. :sly: Be warned that this may turn into a battle of hundredths or thousandths, so be prepared to chip away slowly to improve your time. Have fun! 👍

I have narrowed down my selection to two cars.
Stock settings used and got similar times with .100th of difference after 6 laps.
Will work on the other settings soon!

In the car I'm using, I ran what I thought was a fast lap, but looking at both sectors and individual turns and comparing them to previous laps, there's somehow still about a quarter second left. :boggled: I feel closer to my limit with the other cars, but maybe if I put as much time into them as I did into this one, then I would find the same thing. Tsukuba is often deceptive like that.

T1: 12.676
T2: 28.867

I'm going to start with the easiest one. The less I have to mess with the car the better.

One of my cars I messed with the power (actually) only used two settings and I thought I had a great lap.

Then I took my other car and crushed those times! But there were some turns where I ran wide, I'm sure there is lots of time there...

13.179
29.895

Pretty fun combo, my main trouble seems to be coming out of the last corner in my current car. So much so that, somehow, my fastest lap ends with me going over the line completely sideways

Hi all,
I've been playing GT for ages but never done any forums posting or online racing with it. It's great to see all this activity, for a game which is so 'old'. Just goes to show how deep the game is and how involved we all are ;)

Question, how do you guys get your splits without looking and writing them down at race time? Looking at your replay afterwards? The latter seems a bit cumbersome, if ones does many laps in one session, and the best lap time is somewhere in the middle of the laps...

Please let me know, I hope I find the time to submit some times. At the moment I'm slightly above the times posted :/ But I guess it's okay..

And another thing, is if requested, how would I be able to submit my replay? Do I need additional hardware for my ps2 or can is somehow transfer the replay to a pc? Never done any of that.

Cheers

Hi, ruppi. It's nice to see you're interested. The best way to see your split times is, when you've done a good lap and can't seem to beat it any more, to use the "save best lap replay" function, and then watch it in the replay theater with the replay mode set to "Display." T1 and T2 will pop up as you cross them then. You won't need to submit a replay of your lap; however, if I am suspicious of a time, something I doubt will happen, a photo of the Replay Theater menu with the car and track combo visible will be plenty. Don't hesitate to submit your times, regardless of how fast or slow they seem. 👍

If I understand you, your problem might be that you are correcting by oversteering to the right? If so try letting up off the acceleration or spot braking when you start veering to the outside during the last turn. Downshifting might help also.

Yeah, I either understeer out into the grass or oversteer in this car. Thanks, I'll try that 👍

Thanks austin343 for the tip. First I was looking for the mysterious 'save best lap' button until I realized the ghost replay would automatically pick the best lap :)

Here are my current splits btw:
13.156
29.750

Tried another car. It's a fun track, with 'hidden depths'. Quite true, easy to drive track but hard to master

I wish I had more time to put into this. Here are the splits in another car I tried

13.037
29.850

Had virtually no time at all to run this combo, save for an hour or 2 tonight.
Only tried 1 car, but given that I'm preparing a Tuner Car event for SFGTP5, I've got a reasonable idea of what works here.

T1 12.921
T2 29.347

Time submitted.

It's kind of sad that I know I won't be submitting for this,
even if I race since I won't be able to submit from where I race this round..
unless I get a extension to dl by 12 hours or so.

Times submitted.
Had no time to improve from last Wednesday!

12.976 (12.632)
29.394 (28.968)

Congratulations to Smallhorses and raz_10 for nice podium times, and of course to all participants. 👍 As I expected, the S2000 GT1 used its drivability to win the favor of most, although I'm glad to see that ruppi earned his fastest lap in something different. The Blitz and CarbonR were hopeless, but I at least liked driving the Blitz.

I went the fastest at first in the S2000, with laps pretty close to it from the Mine's and Option Stream Z, but actually beat my old S2000 time by a fair bit in the Option (at +20%, I think), with a 54.154 (or something close to that). I eventually snuck in front of that lap with my submission time, although there was plenty more to get that I was having trouble nailing down. Some of you may be wondering how I went that fast in that laggy, wheelspinning disaster of a car, and the answer is that I used TCS :ill:, hence my motivation to beat that lap in a car in which you need no aids. I will get a video of the Amuse and Cizeta up later this week when I've finished my 24 hour race, and I can show you my Option Stream Z lap if any of you want to see it.

MadMax, unfortunately, I don't think I can make that concession for you. :( I will certainly add whatever you come up with as an unofficial result, but since it's a matter of not even doing a lap until after the deadline rather than telling me beforehand that you've done the lap and won't be able to submit it until a couple hours after (as happened once with raz_10), I don't think it would be fair to the others.

Congratulations to all that tried to keep this cars on the track.
Austin great lap 👍
and Smallhorses as always great runs and happy to hear that:
I'm preparing a Tuner Car event for SFGTP5.

see yall @ the next race!

Woo! Things are shaping up nicely for SFGTP5, a dual-5-way LAN is planned, and it looks like Ricardo is going to be pushing me hard all weekend judging by this result! :scared:
Another untouchable time there Austin. 👍

Great times everyone! I didn't get as much time to race this as I wanted, then forgot to submit, as I was busy revising for an exam :dunce: Would've been right at the rear of the pack :P

Argh! Forgot to submit a time! :scared: Sorry guys!
My time was 54.929 btw in the S2000 GT1. 👍

Thanks for all the positive comments on my lap time. I was pretty pleased with it, but there was definitely a 53.8 out there somewhere. :) InsaneRacer, what car did you use? Once I know that, I can add your time as an unofficial result, and the same goes for AyJay if he'd like to share his lap time as well. 👍

I undestarnd the rules are same for all ,
I did 54.829 with the Mine's Skyline.

splits of this lap are:
T1 12.684
T2 29.613

I just like GTRs, so I tried hard :)

Er... I use the pad to drive so I ALWAYS use TCS, unless the power is underpowered. Otherwise there no way I could control the horepower with the throttle button

Remember, rear of the pack racing against guys like this is a heck of an accomplishment. None of my boys' or their friends even like to race against me. They all like the Need for Speed and Burnout games. They drive 150mph and wonder why they slam into the wall because they try to brake 50 ft. before they try to turn. LOL.

That's why I started entering the races here. Competition

All right, here's my lap in the Amuse. There's sound this time if you turn it up, because I made sure to raise the volume quite far on my TV.
