Supercharger whine

The mustang's supercharger sounds wonderful along with the engine rumble, but is the '97 camaro SS whine too much? It over powers the engine and sounds like a screach in the acceleration burnout on gear 1, up until like 40-50mph(guessing).

Does any one have a different opinion?

Also, the turbo shut-off sound when you decellerate with a turbo car gets quite annoying, especially in rally.

I find the whine annoying, but then again i'm a turbo guy, and the BOV never gets old ;)
Oh, and the mary isn't blown, the engine's naturally asperated...

One crazy trick you can do is get in an Escudo, accelerate to about 2nd gear, then hit right on into a wall and keep holding accel. The turbo whine sounds like a jet and keeps going up while the engine revs, it sounds like its about to blow up! You have to get the right settings tho, like make wheel spin to the max, and gears and stuff. :D :D

ah haha....I've set my analog as the acceleator and I like to sool up the turbo on the Supra RZ with stg 4 turbo kit. Very neat to hear the spool up.

All the turbo cars I've drove dont have that much whine. The NA cars have a lot of whine instead. Can anyone tell me what turbo cars have a lot of turbo whine?

Ya, the sound of Raw Power, gives me a Boner...

Can anyone describe the GT40 engine sound? I can only describe it as a cross between an SVT Cobra with a Viper with a Speed 12, it sounds lik a train crossed with a car and airplane. It sounds crazy.

To me it sounds like an Vacuum Cleaner on its last legg, but what do I no..

I always thought the GT40 sounded a lot like paper caught in a box-fan....very...distant...rumbling.

They're both naturally aspirated cars and God only knows why those whines are there.

ooh. i see what we're talking about - Woolie cleard it up.

those noises aren't superchargers, that's just the way lots of Chevys, in particular, sound. this is probably because they (stupidly) still use pushrods as opposed to OHC.

Muscle cars sound good damn right.

But does anyone think the Skyline sound is too high pitched? Sounds like my remote control supra.......that high pitched motor sound. Anyways, the WRX sounds awesome.

yah i have on older skylie i think an 85, anyway it sound like a frickin honda with a wazzu exhast(sorry to put honda and skyline into the same post)
