Supra Tire Spin

My car of choice, for a fun drive is a modded Supra. I purchased the new 97' supra RZ. It has 741 hp. If you just tune up your Supra and take a run your tires squeel off in gear 1-2 and 2-3. What do I do to prevent all this tire burn and just let it burn gear one, and accel from gear 2. Basically how do I control tire spin?

I recommend you to start by using a long 1st gear (lower value).
Then if this isn't enough you might want to check your springs and downforce. Springs set too hard make the tires to loose grip easily, so it's better to soften them. Since this also changes car handling you must find the right value, not too hard but not too soft either.
Also, increase your rear wing downforce to improve traction.

As a last resort you can also buy a Traction Control and set it to the hardest for maximum wheelspin reduction.

I second everything that MacR said. also, if you're using a button for accel. instead of analog control, you're basically flooding the engine full force everytime you press the button. If you're an analog user, you can just give partial throttle...watch your tachometer needle and let up on the throttle when the needle hits the redline. If you don't wanna use analog, you can get less wheelspin by ‘feathering’ the throttle (tapping the button over and over).

Also, some folks get around this problem by simply not using first gear at all. With that much power, it's easy & possible to launch your car in 2nd gear.

Of course, the real batman is used to tire burnouts. Every time that dude left the batcave, he'd smoke some rubber.

Oh I'm used to it, you see, i love tire spin. I loved leavin the rubber all over Gotham. But here, its a matter of winning money, for more gadgets. And what i need is to squeel through one, not 2 and 3. And if you were wondering, yes, the car is black.

Ha ha, you're funny, dude. Check out www.1966batmobile.com it's a whole site devoted to the Batcar, which was a Ford Galaxie with a 390 V8!

The Supra's ridiculous tire spin always made for fun races. I had the rear downforce up, with TCS set pretty high, and finally said screw it, it's probably more fun and challenging with the tires spinning halfway around the track. :dopey:

The 97' RZ, even with it's tire spin, with the right setup it's a very fast car, while Tom's Supra, having more power, weight and no racing modification, it's the Supra beast number 1. On slower tracks i'm faster driving the SZ-R, which gives alot of fun too, and it's so much easier to control it's tire spin (cos of lower power and higher rpms) that i almost forget i'm driving a Supra...

Another thing i was wondering, what is the fastest tuner car. By tuner i mean buying it stock and making it yourself. I was using the Mazda RX-7, I love that car. It has great handling and great acelleratino, through the first 5 gears. The racing mods make it look like charcoal, i hate it! I'm tryin to find a nice lookin car with the performance to match? Right now im driving my blue RX-7 LM, bought from the Special Mazda cars. Thats awesome!

The fastest cars in game are Suzuki Escudo, Toyota GT-One Road Car and R390 Road Car.
I recommend you to buy the R390 Road Car, because has low hp before you tune it (less than 400hp) and has lots of hp after you tune it (more than 800hp). Thanks to that, it's a car that you can use in many different races, and you'll be able to win them all with no problems, since the car also has a great handling, good traction and it's light (so no problems on limited hp events).

You can buy the 98' version or you can get the 97' version from the Gran Turismo All-Stars Race 5. They are different but it's not a big difference, both are very good.

Yeah, that TCS works on RWD cars but it does kill some of the fun, you got that right! If I use it, I usually just have it on a low value (we're talkin below 20) just to take the edge off if I happen to get too throttle happy during the World Cup or something.

Yeah, the Nissan R390 is not only really fast, but it's one of the most versatile. I think it starts off with only like 300 hp, but you can push it all the way past 900..so you can enter it in a whole lot of events. It's a fun car, looks cool, but too easy to win races with so I rarely use it.

haha i own all of the cars mentioned, but I dont like to use them because they dominate the races so easily. I like using cars that i made myself, its just that special feelin that you took it from stock to kick some ass. Im tryin to use the RX-7 Right now, great car

Agreed. That's why I'd rather race a Viper GTS in an enduro than the Oreca or STP...it's that special customized feel you get! LM series cars are mostly for show-off time. Great for 2-player let's see how fast we can take 'em style racing, but too easy for actual sim races. There are a few LMs that are somewhat challenging because they're underpowered (the Honda S2000 GT1 comes to mind) but usually they're also very lightweight. But whatever.

I like that too :)
That's why i started a new game and i'm driving only Toyotas MR2. Started by making a few licenses, to give time to the MR2 1600 SuperCharger appear in used car lot, and now i have a 98' MR2 GT-S fully tuned getting ready to go kick some big LMs, in the championships, all stars, etc... :D

An MR2 up against the big boys? whoa ho ho ho nelly you're a brave man! Don't forget the Momo Corse MR2 GT from the GT300 series

I think the GT300 series is the most fun, the cars you can use for that are the best. The Travion (sp) FTO is a great car, also the Weds Celica, they're all great. I think the LM's with 550hp or under are more fun than the higher hp ones. The S2000 GT1 and Altezza LM are two of my favorites. I have the S2000 in black with black rims...

Not sure if i'm a brave man or just a dreamer... ... but i love the MR2 and wanna check how far it can go ;)
Unfortunately the MR2 it's one of those rare cases where the stock model is better than the special model. The Momo Corse is heavier and much less powerful than the '98 GT-S. It just has a nice painting...

So far, i already won the GT300, the Amemiya RX-7 is quite fast and gave me some trouble but nothing too hard. Now the tuned turbo on test course was more complicated... not easy to control the MR2 cornering at 330Km/h without an analog control... (got 364Km/h on the straight thanks to a Lancer :D )
Only All Stars, GT500 and GT League Championship to go... not sure if i can win those...

Oooh a stealthy one... I would love to have a stealthy GT-One... looks more like an F117 than a car...

I love it too. The last car I ran in that race was a '96 Toyota MR2 GT-S matter a fact...got it from the used car lot for just $18,079. For some reason I could only manage 3rd place at GVeast but won the other 4 races. Those esses at GVE kill me sometimes.

Im beating my whole game over again for the hell of it. Although i have loads of money and can tune my car to kick any cars ass by having almost exact HP limits, its still fun. For the little GT league races like Japan and stuff...i use the and FTO i made, its HP hits the limit exact for every race! After i advance to beyond what i want to use that for I bring out my big gun. An RX-7 that i bought, blue. Its the RX-7 LM edition that you buy from Mazda'z special room. It kicks. You guys still haven't answered my question, I'd appreciate if it was...not trying to be offensive but I'd really like to know whats the best car you take from scratch, and tune it?

Best car to tune from scratch? Definitely the MA70 Supra. Buy one for less than $10,000 and take it all the way thru the GT Regionals. In GT1, you could go even further because you could put over 900 hp in it but in the 2nd game you'll have to get a newer Supra if you want to go all the way to the World Cup

I've told you already... in my opinion it's the R390 Road Car...

I've started GT1 and GT2 always with that car and it never got 900hp...
But i agree it's one of the best cars to start the game. 👍
