Practice sucking your knees into your chest. That's also how you get high ollies.

I was able to kickflip over 2 skateboards easily back when I skated. Now I have trouble ollieing up curbs. :(
đź‘Ť I'll try that! :D

Nice.

I like doing fakie and nollie 360 shove its because I don't have to jump high to get them to spin.

You should work in a fakie 360 shove it. They're pretty easy. Then get the big spin going. Those look cool.

Hi! I'm new here (in case you couldn't tell), and as I was looking through the forums I found this one, and I feel better knowing that there are other skaters on here. anyhoo, I've been skating on and off for a few years now, learning tricks and forgetting them. right now I'm into spins and flip tricks(don't like rails or stairs much) currently practicing nollie stuff but mostly nollie 360 flip, and fakie 360, and other stuff along those lines.

oh man! i about crapped my pants when i saw this! sweet! i have been skating for like 5 or 6 years and im only 16 <8- P but basically if you go to parks a lot and skate with friends who are slightly better its the easiest way to progress, i used to skate every day with friends in the summer and we would go to some local colleges (spelling haha) and pretty much skate everything. i used to go to our park like every other day during the school year though <8- )
for my setup, i run crazy tight trucks, abec 7 black panthers (shorty's makes them), a local board http://www.skatezoo.com/skate_zoo_proshop.htm the kind that says "born to lose" and its 7 1/2 inches wide, some old flat spotted wheels, and some really hard bushings i have been using for like 3 years.
basically i love to manual haha i could do it all day and i can do it across huge distances.
i have never heard about freezing wheels but i doubt it does much, you can usually figure out what kind of stuff you like simply by the feel of it. don't buy things simply on looks and
ALWAYS CHECK BOARDS! pick it up, hold it level with your eye and MAKE SURE ITS NOT WARPED! too many times have we been delayed by a friend breaking a warped crappy board. you you have any question post them up! i used to be crazy about skating and i went on a hiatus for about a year because i got bored, but now im back and im having fun like a old man married to a 20 year old <8- D
and about meeting pros, there have been a few demos i have been at. in fact, i met josh kalis (he has been in some tekademics videos and has a sweet M5) and a large portion of the alien workshop and habitat team. in fact, i pissed off jason dill in person <8- ) but he is actually a huge jerk and everyone hates him, he is pretty much a stupid male diva (not even that good).

yeah, i used to watch man down all the time. that was probably my favorite time to look back on. i just got too into it, if thats even possible. it got old because lately, i try to stay away from skating magazines because every kid in them looks the exact same to me doing the same trick on basically the same thing, flip's sorry was a awsome video though, im a HUGE arto Saari fan <8- )

Here's my set up: Zero medium bold (7.75x31.5), destructos(7.75), black panthers (aren't they great :) ) and just about any spitfire wheels. my favorite skater is Jamie Thomas, I think Bam Margera is over rated, and so far my favorite skate video is es' menikmati

yeah menikmati was one of the coolest videos i have seen, but personaly any ON video is probably my favorite, i loved the issue with danny way, he has been my favorite skater since i started. and yeah i forgot, i have destructos obviously 7.5 for a 7.5 board and i have some hardware that is probably not even made anymore, i have those randoms that you hammer into place but 2 of 8 are stupid little skulls so little kids ask me about them <8- P i would rather have them ask me something like, where is a fun spot to skate or something <8- )
and about bam, he was never good đź‘Ž he has bad taste in cars anyways, hummers! blah awful...

My freind has had the same hardware without the little skulls, he's had it for like 3 or 4 years. and didn't danny way recently jump over the great wall of China?

Oh yeah, and hummers really suck

yeah, i heard about that but never looked into it. like i said i have been out of the whole thing for a while so im still figuring things out haha koston came out with like 2 more shoes while i was not skating. i just like the hardware because of the little grippy bolts, gives the board a more uniform look and keeps me from looking at the board while im doing something.

I recently learned that improvisation is helpful, meaning popping the board and seeing what comes of it, anyone else do that? Is anyone here really good at gaps? and also what is your favorite kind of place to skate(schools, parks etc.) or your favorite skate spot

i mess around sometimes like that, sounds sort of like pressure flips. my bro can do a couple (you don't really pop the nose or tail, they kind of flip through wierd pressure haha) and i can do a sort of no comply pressure flip, it kind of looks like the sproing for you tony hawk people.
local universities usually have some good stuff, you mainly just have to go out and explore <8- ) its where a lot of the fun happens anyways.

I generally don't go to schools or universities, the cops and security have my name at many good spots, there are of course some exeptions (spelling?). once while improvising I almost did something that vaguely resembled a BS 180 impossible, it's not the first time either, the board does tend to run away before I get my feet back on it though.

btw: does any one know about going off ramps? cuz' I only get a super fantastic 1 1/2 feet of air, and I almost get twice that on flat ground. and finally, would anyone be interested in posting videos? I don't know how to though. :dunce:

I had a pretty big skateboarding accadent yesterday. :D

I was skating down a hill at about 40kmh, then I slowed down about 5kmh to get through a round-a-bout, as I got out, I thought I was doing fine and was ready to stop. Suddenly my board got major speed wobbles, so bad they turned into snakies, all of a sudden my board slipped out from under my feet. I sprained my ankle and got a huge graze on my hip, pretty deep too, and a small deep graze on my elbow.
The only reason I made it to the bottom was because I found a new way to stand, with out getting speed wobbles(Crouching down real low, with my rear foot half off ready for braking), I should of done that as I got out the round-a-bout, but oh well, its too late now.
After my stack my friend and I were laughing for about 10 minutes. We wernt very happy of the lack of him using his camera in his mobile phone to record the whole thing. :D

And now he's overdramatising gravel rash all over msn. Poor Jackypoo.

Suckstobeyou Jack.

I'm sorry Jackie, you know I'm kidding.

X Games 2005... I thought that was a nice new event... We've had big air comps in Winter X for a long time...

Awsome roof gap. I bet I could do that.....................if i wanted to  :dunce:

btw how can i get better at ollieing, ollying(or whatever) off ramps

It's all about shifting your weight back to follow the contours of the ramp, then when you ollie (at the lip of the ramp) you need to shift the weight forward to follow the motion of the ollie, and to flatten out so you land level... It just takes a lot of practice to get the feeling for what nbeeds to be done... It's all about feeling...

Danny way is so sick! He's my favourite skater ever!
We have the same second name and im trying to look into it and find out if theres a sligth chance that we could possibly be related. I doubt it but its worth a try.

That was incredible! i've been reading tons about it and listening to audio interviews and watching vids of it on his site. I suggest you check his site out, its got tons of videos of him jumping the great wall as well as the audio tapes and lots of footage of him riding the mega ramp in the californian desert. One of my favourite vids on there is him pulling a 65ft 720 on the Megaramp in CA.
