Guys

We had a fairly big swell through Sydney on Sunday June 30, and I went for a run along my local beach, Maroubra. I took some photos during my cool down walk I thought you'd like.

By the way, this isn't the biggest I've seen - July last year the waves were about twice the size and much cleaner - but no-one was out there (you'd have been killed).

7- To give some perspective, that's my shadow next to this jellyfish - so this thing was about the size of my head...

8 - Something about water smashing against rock, isn't there?

9 - To give perspective, that wave at the back's about 200 metres away.

11 - Okay - this is the beach from the northern most point (where I took most of the shots. It's a bit over 1km long. That would be the next post...

12 - And finally, who said Subarus weren't popular in Australia?

Counting left to right - there's an old white Leone wagon, my MY02 Liberty/Legacy, an original model Liberty/Legacy, an MY00 Liberty/Legacy wagon, a late model Impreza, some Citroen thing (alright, a Xantia), and then a middle series Liberty/Legacy (probably a '97). I couldn't get the Outback into shot.

Yeah, yeah, Subies are popular in Australia - though I can't believe someone got tricked into buying an Xantia. :D

Those pics are great - one is my new desktop background (10). What a place to live...

Cheers, mate. I bodyboard there, but I'm a bit of a wimp in the big stuff, don't like it much over 6 foot.

I live about a 20-30 minute drive from there.

That's nothing - I took about 40 odd shots and did some severe culling - I love having a big Flash card in my digital camera. You can take a heap of shots and get home and pick out the ones you want. Much better than paying for processing a full film and getting three decent shots out of thirty six!

vat_man are there any Orchid Greenhouses in Sydney?

This may sound weird, but I work at one and Cymbidiums are not in season for flowering up here, so if you could, could you possibly take a picture of a cymbidium flower for me? I have asked my grandparents if they have any on file, and they dont, I have never seen a cymbidium flower before so if you could, I would be very grateful.

I'll have a look, mate - I often run through the Botanic Gardens so I'll keep an eye out. I know they have an orchid section, but given the time of year I don't know if they'll be flowering.

Thanks vat_man I owe ya one.

Cymbidiums flower in winter, weird little plants they are.
