T500RS Racing Wheel for PS3 $150 Microcenter (Still hope?)

Hahahaha. That's one national scale screw up.

How's the wheel? Still getting used to it?

oh its great man. I played it a good 10 hours this weekend and its funny but my shoulders and biceps were a little sore as the force feedback is much more intense than my old DFGT. its similar in some ways to the fanatec CSR I had. ive got it mounted really sturdy and am very content with my set up now. the brake has a proper heavy feel to it even though i didnt install the brake mod it came with.. i ended up removing the clutch pedal as when I track in real life i brace myself with the dead pedal and have that habit when playing GT..so that pedal being there was messing me up. I also like how the paddles are stationary like my car in real life as that what im used to

I'm really bummed out about this whole thing. I placed my order long before many people I know who received theirs, stayed routed for 3 days then cancelled.

Called my local MC and they told me they were expecting a shipment for Fri, so I bought GT6 on Thurs. Come friday, nothing.

On Sat., a member on another forum (who's an MC employee) said his store (5hrs away!) had 2 avail. Called about 20-25 times and no one picked up. Called the online service rep, who confirmed the 2 in stock, to get me in contact with anyone from that store and said they'd send a msg to the store to call me back. Never did.

Been on the phone with their online reps on and off for that past week and the ONLY reason I got to speak with a supervisor today was because I called the rep out on it when he told me his supervisors where all busy and they'd call me back, which that very same rep told me before and never happened.

Was so excited to play GT6 (last GT for me was 3) with the T500. Having now played through 40% of GT6 with ds3, I just decided to put the game away until I can play it with a proper wheel. Kinda ruined the experienced.

Oh yeah, and **** scalpers/flippers. If anyone out there can help a bro out, pm please.

Makes me wonder WHY this wheel is marked up to $600 so much??? I mean I'm assuming it costed them less than 150 to get this thing and I'm really questioning the extra half a grand mark up per wheel

Just the Bühler Motor (used in the T500RS) alone costs around $100 retail. Compare that to the $15 Mabuchi used in the Fanatec (although 2 motors are used in each CSR-E).

I'm pretty sure TM gets the motor well below retail but once you add the enclosure, the mechanical and electrical components and the wheel and pedal (I'm assuming this $150 deal includes the pedal set), the material and manufacturing cost alone should be in the range of $150 or more.

This might be a refurbished unit even then it's still a silly bargain considering refurbished G25 used to sell around $180-$200 c. 2009.

Having gone from the G25 to the T500RS, I can say that it can feel at least twice as good although those preferring the more direct feel of gear driven wheel over belt, might also disagree. But for me, the power of the T500RS and the added dampening from the belt drive (it's not as chattery) gives a nicer, more realistic feel over the slight snappiness of the G25.

Anyone else get this email?

Thank you for shopping with Micro Center Online. Regrettably, due to an overwhelming response, we were originally unable to fill your recent order for the Thrustmaster Racing Wheel (SKU #234559) for $199.99 (tax, shipping and handling may apply).

Great News! We recently received a limited number of units and will fulfill orders according to when the original order was placed. Due to the heavy demand for the Racing Wheel, we had to limit the quantity to one per customer, address or household. You are receiving this email because your order was among the range of orders that are within the fulfillment quantity.

Says I have to call with my order number to get one. Sweeeeeet.

Seems like there is still hope for those who ordered when the deal was at it's prime.

Heads up everybody. Just received an email from MC a couple of minutes ago regarding the cancelled order. They're receiving a new shipment from Thrustmaster and will be honoring the ordered in the order they were cancelled. Each recipient will have a week (15th for me) to buy at the sale price before the offer goes to the next person in line.

I guess I really was one of the earlier ones. Anyway, called and placed my order.

edit- After having proved me wrong, I will certainly be visiting my local MC from now on.

They got additional wheels for people with cancelled orders for the same price!! This is odd.
Retailers usually do this to empty shelves, they don't get new stock; unless Thrustmaster are using them to burn their stock. There's hope

When the whole cancellation thing happened, MC reps told me they will add me to a list and fulfill the sale when they receive a future shipment and it's just something they do in those situations.

I took it with a grain(boulder) of salt. Well, all that salt made the crow taste a little better.

So basically the FFB is stronger and smoother on the T500? Will I sense more detailed FFB if I make a turn as opposed to the constant, flat FFB I get when making a turn using my DFGT in GT6?

There is a huge difference in FFB feel between DFGT and t500.
The feel itself is different, it's smooth and not "skippy" like dfgt. There also seems to be more feedback with the t500. Not stronger feedback but more of it in more places. Maybe it's just me.
I also find that anything over 6 and it just feels like too much.

you had an order and it was cancelled? if you did not get an email you still have a chance to get one during the second shipment wave, after Jan 15.

There's for sure a second shipment? This one was probably 30+ wheels are so I assume. I ordered one and got canceled but I'm not sure if I'll make it to the list.

Yup. The leftovers from the first will be sent out. Says it right in the email. "Action Required to Obtain Racing Wheel (SKU #234559):
Please contact us via phone to place your order by (1/15/14) and provide your original order number. If we have not heard from you by this date, we must contact the next customer in line."
