Location: Route 246, Aoyama, Tokyo
Time: 4 pm, Monday

A blue, heavily-tuned Supra prowls around the streets. Souped-up cars are a common sight in Tokyo's streets, since tuning garages are scattered around the city.

16532763107_26b43a2c54_c.jpg

A popular racer named Manabu Orido pilots the Supra, and tagging along with him is none other than Nobuhiko Hiramoto. It turns out that they have just gone back from a tuning car review, and obviously Nobuhiko is chosen by the reviewing team due to his knowledge on Supras. Orido just picked up the car, and then decides to treat the car reviewer.

Orido: "So, what's your verdict?"

Nobuhiko could only provide a smile as his answer.

Nobuhiko: "Please watch the episode next Saturday evening. You'll see."

Orido: "Suspense, huh? Oh well, it could be more exciting."

16552740938_74a2b039cd_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "I'm sorry... but it's our policy not to deliver verdicts to the owners until we air the episode."

Orido: "I'd expect that. Oh, by the way, the reason why I'm tagging you along for a treat because I have to tell you something."

Nobuhiko: "What is it?"

Orido: "That FTO... is back."

Nobuhiko clearly displays a surprised face.

Nobuhiko: "Huh??? Isn't Mitsukoshi Tanaka dead?"

Orido:
"He is. But someone out there is driving that car now. It could be in search for you, knowing what happened in the past. Stories of its recent sightings grew. "

Nobuhiko: "I'll never forget that race. It was a close one, and totally changed my view on street racers."

Orido: "I was once a street racer too, you know? Until good opportunities came by and grasped them all."

Nobuhiko: "Hmmmmmm.... I've got to see it myself. Deep down, strangely, I want to race it again."

************************************************************

Location: Route 5
Time: 10 pm

Nobuhiko heads out to confirm those rumors. It's been a while since he haven't made a run in Route 5, despite the fact that he passes by that road everyday.

16739226782_3b74f1b6f8_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "While I drive here everyday going to and fro, it was quite a long time since I haven't raced here. Now the torches of past have once again burning brightly. Why? Why am I eager to race Mr. Mitsu once again?"

16118001854_b0fe9bfb8b_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "Is it because of the lasting excitement and tension that I felt during that night?

16552895430_e72645ab27_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "I vowed to myself that the race was the last one I'll ever do here. Obviously because of my profession, but somehow...

...that feeling of competition has returned. I definitely have to see it! I have to relieve that itch!"

End of Page 6

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- Quite short, but it has to be, since this is the point that Nobuhiko will enter the picture and sets the stage for the final battle of this arc.

- As of this writing, I have finished all the duels in this arc. I can rest. Next page will be posted on Monday.

- Once again, I'll open a room from 9 pm - 12 am. Hopefully at least one would attend. :P

Location: Toru's home, Harajuku Omoutesando
Time: 10 pm, the next day

Iwasaki has arrived at Toru's home, to remind the young man that a race will take place an hour later, as Rasmus has caused another stir in Route 5 a while ago. Iwasaki is meant to be the only racer to participate, but of course he has to make a surprise.

The two men look at the FTO, looking neat as usual.

Iwasaki: "We're ready to surprise that Swedish meatball. In truth, he knows that I'm the only one he challenged. But I aim to throw him off guard by tagging along Route 5's fastest car."

16518039539_4c0a8cab11_c.jpg

Toru: "Tell me... did my brother conquer Route 5 with that? I just wondered how he does things with passion. Last time I've heard of him is his venture in professional racing with that car."

Iwasaki: "Your brother simply dreamed. He started out like you, naive and ambitious, as a racer in the mountain pass. But then his experiences are where he gained wisdom, and eventually realized that there are so many better things in life than just underground racing. Now, when did Route 5 get in the picture? He didn't want to go back to his naive self, but then he found enjoyment in Route 5, seeing it like a race circuit which deemed fitting for that FTO."

16496880217_fce45cced2_c.jpg

Iwasaki: "Naturally, he defeated every single racer he encountered, until one stopped his winning streak."

Toru: "Who was that person, then?"

Suddenly, fate provided an answer, as Nobuhiko and Yuki arrived by Iwasaki's invitation. The two are surprised at the car's presence in front of them. It gives off a very powerful aura...

Nobuhiko: "There's no mistaking it."

Yuki: "Route 5's Diamond - The FTO Evo."

Toru: "I assume you were Mitsukoshi's friends."

Nobuhiko: "More of crossed paths with him. And how ambitious you are, for you to acquire such car. Now you know its reputation, will you still race tonight?"

Toru: "Of course. I want to get out of my poser labeling and show that I'm a true racer!"

Yuki: "But remember who your rival is, he actually belongs in a secret project aiming to change the face of the racing world. I'm sure you've heard of abductions of chief engineers of car manufacturers around the world. In truth, the Dream Alliance is to take care of that matter."

Nobuhiko: "However, since this is your fight, we will have to respect it. We can only watch. But should things go wrong, we will not hesitate to step in."

Iwasaki: "Hmph. All right, let's go. My friends alerted me that Rasmus is waiting."

************************************************************

Location: Route 5

Tension is in among the crowd, as they can only look at the waiting Rasmus and his futuristic Mitsubishi VGT.

Finally, the moment he'd been waiting for has arrived, as he sees three cars oncoming - Iwasaki's R34, Toru's FTO Evo, and Nobuhiko's Supra. But he has been wondering as to why there are three of them.

Iwasaki: "Sorry to keep you waiting."

Rasmus: "So you are not the only racer I'll deal with?"

Iwasaki: "Not only me, but also this little kid."

Rasmus: "And what about them? You brought the Dream Alliance."

Iwasaki: "I told them to stay out of this. They can only watch. Remember that they will not partake in any street race, even if your original target was them all along."

Rasmus: "Now... why did you bring that little kid along? What significance does he--"

Toru: "Hey! I have a name! My name is Toru! And with me is Route 5's--"

Iwasaki steps in front of Toru to resume the conversation.

Iwasaki: "Let's start, shall we? And take note, we are racing you in our own volition, not because we're doing a favor for Dream Alliance.

So do not treat us like we're their pawns. Take us seriously. You'll regret it if you don't."

The Swedish racer then crosses his arms.

Rasmus: "Hmph! Okay then! But if you lose..."

Rasmus points his finger at the Supra.

Rasmus: "You'll hand them over to me. And you cannot interfere."

Iwasaki: "Heh. All right, then."

Instead of doing the countdown, the three immediately started off the race.

16556946657_ea2ba441b0_c.jpg

Rasmus: "You are nothing but vermin. Street racers only know unorthodox, and dirty tricks. You will never be refined, and that will bring you nowhere in this world!"

16141913074_59297c20ba_c.jpg

Rasmus: "You might be doing good, but the fact remains that you are just little punks craving for attention. Hopefully by beating both of you, I shall finally send a clear message to the Dream Alliance.

My efforts here are all for the sake of the Vision GT project. Soon, all racers will embrace the change, just as Kazunori-san has intended. This car has fallen once, and now it shall have its revenge!"

Meanwhile, among the crowd, Yuki observes the audience, also seemingly surprised at the FTO's return.

16576642358_087d1a2b2d_c.jpg

Yuki: "They didn't expect that FTO's return, either. This night will be different."

Nobuhiko: "I agree."

Yuki: "And the Vision GT car. I didn't expect its return too."

Nobuhiko: "Kazunori has plenty of money, so that shouldn't really stop him in pursuing his goals, even if mending his creations. He'll do everything in his power, for sure."

Yuki: "Iwasaki-san told me that the driver is intending to use the street racers as a bait to lure us."

Nobuhiko: "Now I see why Iwasaki wants us to watch - for us to see how capable street racers are especially when they're provoked. There goes Takuma-san's speech..."

Yuki: "I know the feeling. I am one of them too. It is true that street racing will forever be an underdog game, but that doesn't mean we're all rotten. I feel insulted too, when I heard of that foreigner's intentions.

I don't like being used. And if I were either Iwasaki-san or Toru..."

16556944967_68d16e764d_c.jpg

The three cars passed by the main straight at blistering speed, prompting the crowd to cheer.

Yuki:
"...I WILL SHOW NO MERCY. Just like I did before."

Back in the race, Toru focuses at the opponent in front. Having encountered the XR-PHEV Evolution in the past, he now has the drive not to lose for the second time. Pride is on the line.

16576826680_c66c5e876d_c.jpg

Toru: "I know how fast you are. But this car will soon show its true colors. It's my turn now to prove myself! No use turning back!"

At the corner exit, Toru takes advantage of the point-and-squirt characteristics of the 4WD and the 4G63 turbo.

16556943127_b2f0ece223_c.jpg

Toru: "I WILL BE THE KID YOU'LL LOVE TO HATE, GAIJIN! Ha!"

Seeing Toru's move, Iwasaki shows a grin and firms his grip on the steering wheel.

Iwasaki: "It begins. The legend has finally returned! Put on a good show, Toru!"

16578075159_62f4acec9d_c.jpg

Rasmus: "I can't believe this! How could a little kid drive that fast?!? YOU'VE GOT TO BE LYING! You are from the Dream Alliance, aren't you?!"

Iwasaki: "You'll regret taking us lightly, old fart. Even we street racers have firepower! Now, it's our turn to put you down! Get ready!"

End of Page 7

Page 8 - The FTO's Legacy

Having finally overtaken Rasmus, Toru aims to increase his pace further, but first...

16586270570_2e8295d2c5_c.jpg

...he looks at the turbo boost gauge. Seeing that the replacement aftermarket turbo is performing well, the young man does not hesitate to bury the throttle.

Toru: "Boost OK! Time to let hell break loose!"

(Background Music: Re-Birth - Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 4 Soundtrack)

Seeing that Toru has increased his pace, Iwasaki aims to do the same, commencing his plan.

Iwasaki: "Time to beat the crap out of you, gaijin!"

The R34's power easily overwhelms the XR-PHEV Evo, and with Iwasaki at the front...

16747796676_b030707751_c.jpg

Rasmus: "IMPOSSIBLE!!! This car has all the latest technology, and has a very powerful engine too! How could it lose against those rascals?!?"

Iwasaki then pulls off a brake check, to put Rasmus off his rhythm.

16747796356_7fffa761db_c.jpg

Iwasaki: "I shall defend every street racer's pride here, including that FTO! Leave this to me, Toru!"

After that successful stunt, the R34 manages to get away thanks again to its incredible horsepower output.

16566390977_5db129e4aa_c.jpg

Rasmus: "Arrrrrrrghhh!!! WHY AM I EVEN BOTHERING TO WASTE MY TIME HERE?!?"

Of course, the Swedish racer has to unleash everything he's got, knowing the situation has spiraled out of his control.

Rasmus: "I'm not done with you, you pests! I shall show you the true nature of the Vision GT Project!"

16586096128_9040ebeb7e_c.jpg

He goes on full throttle, however.... the XR-PHEV understeers - a weakness shared by all four-wheel drive cars. One must not bury the throttle at mid-corner.

As a result, it crashed at the barrier at high speed, knocking its driver unconscious and bleeding.

16772517491_cb78a4857e_c.jpg

Iwasaki, having witnessed the crash, carries on with a grin.

Iwasaki: "Heh... serves him right. Now he realizes how powerful street racers are!"

16747794886_1dae59dc59_c.jpg

Toru: "Is it really over? Where is that foreigner?"

16772513501_ec9c3f2ddb_c.jpg

Iwasaki: "Carry on, Toru. Defend your car's pride. But I do hope you learn something out of this experience. Are you feeling it?"

(Music stop)

The two then stop by at a Parking Area. Iwasaki then notices the boy's smile that quickly turned into an apathetic face.

Iwasaki: "You won today's battle. But why with that face?"

Toru: "Something just hit me. I don't know... but I am feeling that I wasn't satisfied at all. Plus, I'm not even craving for something more. It's like... I've got nothing out of this, and I don't know where to head next."

Iwasaki: "Hmph. Now you are in that stage in life. You are an adult, and now you're realizing if these things are necessary for you to succeed."

Toru:
"But street racing is the only thing that keeps me from being totally lonely! It's the only way of happiness!"

Iwasaki: "I'm afraid if you have that belief, then you'll end up facing a dead end in life."

Before Toru could argue any further, Nobuhiko's Supra arrives. Nobuhiko and Yuki approach the duo.

16586265920_3771aa99ed_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "You managed to defend the FTO's reputation, Toru. I'm glad."

Toru: "I didn't really do this for Mitsukoshi. I did this for my own benefit. I want to move up."

Nobuhiko: "I see. But there is another challenge you must face. And that's me."

Toru: "What?!?"

Nobuhiko: "I know that my team has a strong belief against street racing, but when there is an itch, you have to relieve it! I want to see the legend running once again, right before my eyes!"

Yuki:
"Senpai..."

Nobuhiko: "And also, that's is the opportunity for you to prove yourself, how can you gauge against a real racer. A racer that has experienced everything, even death."

Having given the honor to race someone from the Dream Alliance, Toru suddenly livens up his spirit.

Toru: "All right then! I accept your challenge. And perhaps this might be the way to enlighten myself of something. I want to see a clear and bright future ahead. This race will show me the way!"

Nobuhiko: "It's settled. We shall race next week, 11 pm at Route 5."

Toru: "Done deal! I'm suddenly excited!"

Location: A cafe in Savile Row, London, United Kingdom
Time: 3 pm

In a cafe located at the posh Savile Row, Rob and Jenny have just ordered tea along with some slices of ham, cheese, and bread.

While it's seemingly peaceful and orderly, Rob looks around, and notices some men in black suits looking at him.

With its impressive service, their meals have been served immediately. Jenny stands up, however.

Jenny: "I'm going to the restroom."

Rob: "I'll wait. Let's eat together, then."

With his wife entered the restroom, the men suddenly stand up, and they approach Rob just slurping a bit of his tea.

Inside the restroom, Jenny is just washing her hands after applying some make up. Then she puts on lip balm on, to cure her chapped lips which she sometimes annoyed at.

She hears some banging, and that prompts her to put her makeup kit in her handbag and rush outside.

To her shock, she sees the men unconscious, with some having some forks stabbed on their necks. The restaurant is in a huge mess, with tables turned down, shattered plates and glasses, and scattered utensils.

Only one table looks very neat and orderly - and that's the table where she and Rob are dining at. Their meals and their tea look absolutely fine. Rob is scrubbing off some debris on his jacket, and pours tea on to Jenny's cup. Jenny carefully passes through the fallen henchmen, and returns to the table.

Jenny: "What in the world happened?!?"

Rob: "Let's have our snack, shall we? I'm quite hungry."

Suddenly, his phone rings, turning out to be Nigel on the other line.

Rob: "Oh Nigel. Why'd you call? Something came up?"

End of Page 8

16587515069_ded305552a_c.jpg

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- That brief scene at the end signifies what the next arc will be - about Nigel. That robot will be the star! Though Rob may have done a bit too much damage in the restaurant. :sly:

Oh boy, guess Toru's challenge to become the teioh (That's Japanese for emperor, don't you know) of the streets has just gotten harder... You'd think that the VGT challenge was tough, wait until the next episode.

Also, Rob is truly the master of plot armor, mainly because he is made from it. That should be his middle name. Of course, his restaurant bills will be more extensive than just the dishes he ate...

Location: Hiroyuki's home, Roppongi, Tokyo
Time: 7 pm, three days later

A large trailer truck is seen unloading something at the driveway.

"Okay, reverse a bit further!"

"Now stop."

16169226943_fed43e7426_c.jpg

It turns out to be Nobuhiko's modified FT-1. Hiroyuki has finished its development, and thanks everyone in his development team for all the hard work.

When his crew had set off, he takes a good look at his son's car which he had poured his heart on.

Hiroyuki: "With Phase II done, I can confidently send this back to Nobuhiko. This will make him a terrifying monster."

He now puts up a grin, the moment he looks at the large rear wing coupled with a menacing rear diffuser that provide gobs of downforce.

16601582958_e5c53d49ef_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "Hopefully this will make Nobuhiko get out from his recent slump. With Takuma and Rob having monstrous rates of progress, my son must take action. This will rocket him back to the top, and the power struggle shall follow. It would actually be entertaining, while fighting the Vision GT Project."

With his son's future assured once again, Hiroyuki heads back inside to enjoy dinner with his wife.

************************************************************

Location: Route 5
Time: 11 pm

Route 5 gets traffic-free as soon as 9 in the evening, which delights street racers from all corners of the city. But it seems there is no activity in the area at all. The parking area is surprisingly devoid of modified cars.

However, a high pitched roar suddenly shatters the calm surroundings of Route 5.

16603031839_91387535e6_c.jpg

It is Kaido after all, once again testing the magnificent Mazda LM55. While still capped at 500 horsepower, the Rotary engine is no slouch. Having been aware of Takuma's favorite color - purple - he decided to repaint it the same color as the Nissan 2020 has.

16601582238_ab0cd36c40_c.jpg

Kaido: "Even with restricted power, this car shows a lot more promise than I expected. Takuma will surely be ensnared by this car."

16601795480_c7441b7076_c.jpg

His thoughts have suddenly changed, when he makes another lap at the street circuit.

Kaido: "Kids have been racing more frequently here lately. They're trying to prove something. Everyone has something to prove. But only a few will actually get to prove themselves that they are successful, victorious even.

Mitsukoshi, are you even watching what your little brother is doing? Out of all the members in your family, you are the sole person who actually cares. In my opinion, your FTO Evo deserves much better treatment."

************************************************************

Location: Toru's home, Harajuku Omotesando

Toru has arrived home from his convenience store shift. However, he is holding an envelope, containing a letter informing him of his notice of termination. He has only a month left to work, and once again he's back on struggling.

He'll probably look for a job online tomorrow. Because of the notice, he is not in the right mood to race. Instead, he just looks at the FTO.

16788030711_e2621926fe_c.jpg

Toru: "I'm supposed to be very happy now that I have this car and had proven myself to be the fastest in Route 5. But why am I feeling the opposite? To be specific, I am feeling empty... like I still haven't progressed nor acquired anything at all."

He then has a flashback... the last moments between him and Mitsukoshi before they part ways.

Mitsukoshi: "Toru... are you even thinking about your future? Aren't you even wondering why our parents are always hot on you? They can't just scold you without reason. There sure is."

Toru: "Look, I cannot be like you! I am me! Why can't they understand that?!?"

Mitsukoshi: "That's not even what they want. They want you to straighten up. Look at your academic performance. You're slacking off school, and have poor grades. Mom and Dad view me as a role model because I have accomplished important feats in life. Even though they are against in my chosen career of professional racing, they just left me alone - because in the end, they are confident that I am ready to face reality. That's what they want from you - to be realistic, to be aware of what's going on around you. You cannot survive life being so naive."

Toru: "I just enjoy my life as it is! If I'm too serious... I'll be boring and uncool!"

Mitsukoshi: "Work and play have to be balanced, Toru. Yes, you are still young, and you deserve all the good times, but reality calls for you to be aware and serious. Because if you aren't, then all those good times will slip away from your grasp. You are in high school, and soon enough you are going to find a job. As early as now, you must decide your path. Decide your own before our parents could do so against your will, or worse, even fate will control your life.

This will probably be the last time we'll be together, Toru. I hope I can hear some good news from you. Cut your path through fate. Decide your destiny."

The young man scoffs off that moment. His jealousy towards his late brother still gets the better of him.

To easily forget that uncomfortable moment, he contacts on Iwasaki.

Toru: "Iwasaki... as you know, I am going to race Nobuhiko Hiramoto on Saturday. How good is he? And why did he suddenly challenged me?"

Iwasaki: "As expected, you never knew what happened a year ago, Toru. Your brother and Nobuhiko had an epic duel in Route 5. Those two had a brief rivalry that rooted from their professional racing."

Toru: "What's the outcome?"

Iwasaki: "The FTO lost because of engine trouble. But the two never gave quarter during that duel. After that, your brother just resumed his circuit racing activities. He never even uttered a single word on what happened that night. That's what he was - he was merely being realistic. He didn't even feel any sense of accomplishment when racing in Route 5. While he had a tough time dealing with Nobuhiko in Route 5, in the end he realized that it's merely a street race. He thought that he won't be getting prize money nor new contracts.

Now, would you feel the same if you will race Nobuhiko on Saturday?"

The young man could only hang his head down and clench his left fist.

Iwasaki: "I say you must race him. There, you'll see what I'm talking about. You will understand everything I said to you."

End of Page 9

Page 10 - Pushing Harder

Location: Route 5
Time: 11 pm, Saturday

This is it. Fate has once again opened the opportunity for the Supra and the FTO Evo to clash in the battlefield known as Route 5. Though this time the younger, albeit confused, Toru Tanaka shall take the helm of his late brother's FTO.

Watching the duel are Yuki and Iwasaki, discussing each other as they see the two cars line up at the start line.

Yuki: "This will surely be too intense."

Iwasaki: "Hmph... maybe. Toru is not what you think he may be right now. Right now, he's confused."

Yuki: "Confused?"

Iwasaki: "In regards to his future, yes. He sees street racing as a way of life, yet he is not ready to face the reality that ties along with it. People around him say the same thing over and over - that he should his focus on what's ahead of him."

Yuki: "Mitsukoshi was a man who can foresee his future, and had the ability to determine his own. He's not afraid of any consequence."

Iwasaki: "Then Toru is his naive little brother. But he has plenty of hope. He's still young, and time is on his side."

Meanwhile, the Nobuhiko and Toru get out of their cars first for a little talk before they can run.

Toru: "How many laps do you want?"

Nobuhiko: "Let's have an enduro. Whoever gives up first, loses."

Toru: "Noted."

Nobuhiko: "You don't seem confident."

Toru: "I'm just... serious right now. I don't always goof off like you see everyday. You are my opponent, hence I must take you seriously."

Nobuhiko, however, thinks otherwise. But there is no point in dragging the conversation further.

Nobuhiko: "Hmph... I see. Well, let's get started."

Without further adieu, the two get back in their cars. Yuki shouts the countdown.

Yuki: "3... 2... 1... GO!!!"

Thanks to 4WD, the FTO gets a rocket start. But the Supra makes it up with more power...

16772481206_c4c5c90905_c.jpg

(Background Music: I Was Born To Survive - Tom H@ck)

As expected, the FTO shows promise to Nobuhiko. He is surely to struggle thanks to the FTO's lighter weight and traction advantage.

16610973360_ebcbb5a2d0_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "That FTO never lost its touch at all. It's still agile through the turns."

Surprisingly from Toru, he does not show his usual energetic attitude.

16610972980_eb7110818f_c.jpg

Toru: "Nobuhiko is right. I don't seem confident. I don't even feel one at all. It seems that Mitsukoshi's message is finally haunting me..."

Nobuhiko: "The FTO shows no problem so far. But the real problem is you, Toru!!!"

16178421463_40ab63d254_c.jpg

At the corner exit, Nobuhiko makes his move. His Supra's power has increased to 650 horsepower - an amazing feat for the lightweight and compact 3S-GTE four-cylinder turbo 4-cylinder engine.

16591051567_8f0ba6d21b_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "At your state, you think you are taking me seriously?!? Don't lie! I will be the one to make you truly serious! Catch me!"

Toru: "Whoa... Supras are very fast as expected. They really are monster machines!"

16798325405_0fdc5d9bf2_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "I want you to repeat history for a moment! Bring back that excitement for one last time!"

16178420273_6b39c47fa0_c.jpg

Toru: "Dream Alliance racers truly are very fast! The world fears them! That cornering speed of the Supra is just..."

16610970670_07b76d31e4_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "You will regret everything in life if you don't take even this one seriously! Come! Where is your energetic and youthful aura?!"

And to further encourage Toru to push harder, Nobuhiko increases his pace.

16610970070_f3c07ee805_c.jpg

16798323745_e379f0ff32_c.jpg

Toru: "Can I even keep up? Do I even stack up against them? I've got to hold myself together! I've got to bring back the Toru that everyone knows! I am Route 5's fastest! I've got to go out of Mitsukoshi's shadow!"

End of Page 10

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- Tom H@ck's I Was Born To Survive is the fitting theme for Nobuhiko. Its lyrics perfectly describe who he is and his experiences in life.

Angel wings? Damm, now that is very anime. Not that it's bad mind you, adds to the drama of the battle. Toru needed to snap out of his transe, and that was the catalyst.

Page 11 - Awakening

For Toru, the situation has turned dire. Having seen his opponent's true skill, he has to keep up. After all, he has his pride as a street racer to protect.

Taking advantage of the FTO's less than 1 ton weight, he brakes late entering the first corner, allowing to negate the advantage Nobuhiko has.

16806878092_748061c9dc_c.jpg

Toru: "No... I cannot allow myself to be trampled by others again. I must... rise... and win! I cannot just fall after I've gone this far! Don't even bother caring what people think of you!"

(Background Music: Dream - Perfect Girls)

Nobuhiko is surprised by Toru's sudden surge. But it immediately put a smile on his face.

Nobuhiko: "Heh! Now that's more like it! I'm glad you're back!"

16782106246_daf85be29c_c.jpg

16782105446_57612891d7_c.jpg

Toru: "Get ready, Hiramoto! Even I won't stoop down before the Dream Alliance! I have gone this far and have sit on the throne as Route 5's fastest!"

16620407368_a71071a973_c.jpg

To allow himself to prove his worth to his opponent, Toru makes a pass by another late braking. Even the seasoned Super GT driver such as Nobuhiko is completely taken by shock from that unexpected move.

16185633064_9a1f423c07_c.jpg

Toru: "Just watch how a street racer settles things, SUPER GT driver!"

16620405658_a7b3a4744e_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "That was unexpected. Heh... after all, that's what SUPER GT drivers want!"

16807968855_966545d71b_c.jpg

The two spectators are stunned at how the race got more intense, especially the fact that Toru retook the lead.

Yuki: "Toru is at the front again, huh? Did he get his groove back?"

Iwasaki: "That could be true. But all kinds of glory do not last long. He may have been awakened, but awakened once again by his illusions. Even if he wins tonight, he'll still feel empty, I bet. The truth will never let Toru go. At the end of this race, he will once again face reality. He will still be underneath his brother's shadow, he will always be alone, and he'll be stuck in his dead-end job."

16806859761_42e87f60f7_c.jpg

Toru: "I'm not going to go easy on you, even if you look so cool with your white hair! I fear no one!"

16185630094_a399bb2319_c.jpg

And so the battle rages on. Stay tuned on its conclusion on the next page. Who shall prevail in this intense enduro? Could this finally change Toru's perception in life?

Oh man, this is getting more and more tense with each passing corner... Toru is putting his own life at stake, quite literally. Will he win it all? Or will he fail in achieving all the sucess that Nobuhiko wants him to achieve?

I'm getting the popcorn...

As with any Enduro, the tension increases at each passing second. Toru has no room for error. He has to concentrate if he is to win this duel...

16198018284_1fb5b11060_c.jpg

Toru: "If I keep this on... then he'll give up, right?"

16634245549_6e49f81925_c.jpg

With what he said, reality strikes again. At the end of this race, he is to face it back. He will be terminated soon, and his grades in school drop alarmingly.

Toru: "But..."

16819248262_5003bf98a5_c.jpg

Iwasaki: "You think a freshman like you will achieve anything with that attitude? Let us say you did beat me, what will you do next? Run around in circles? Waiting for a brave soul to take you on?"

Iwasaki: "Sigh... kids like you understand so little nowadays. You are so naive about your future. Oh well, if that's what you think, then there is no point in arguing with you."

16198015394_22a09e3329_c.jpg

Iwasaki: "Sometimes, being yourself would mean walking through the harsh path of reality! People become themselves because of their failures and mistakes. No one's perfect, and neither am I."

And then finally... his late brother's parting words.

Toru lightens his grip on the steering wheel, after realizing what's more important.

Toru: "I guess they are right... I can't be a lost cause. I was born to have a purpose in life. One way or another, I can't stay forever like this. I have to shape my future. Times are tough now."

16632968410_509bcfbbeb_c.jpg

Toru: "I mean, look at my opponent! He's enjoying to live! He has a very strong aura! He's a very accomplished person in life yet enjoys doing things like this. He didn't achieve what he has right now if he's stuck in a loop like me."

16613059017_3efcd3e71e_c.jpg

Toru: "Time to cut through destiny! It's time to end this once and for all!"

To start off his new path, he slams hard on the brake pedal.

Toru's sudden stop surprises everyone, including Nobuhiko.

16820350705_28415cf2df_c.jpg

Yuki: "Toru has stopped!"

Iwasaki: "Hmph."

16819285551_1a12aed3b0_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "He... stopped. Why???"

(Music stop)

With the Enduro facing an abrupt end, Toru however has made up his mind. He pulls over where Iwasaki and Yuki are located.

The young man gets out of his car, smiling. Nobuhiko then arrives as well.

Iwasaki: "What's with the smile? You lost today."

Toru: "Win or lose, I'll be facing another day of misery anyway. But I want to change that bit. I have finally decided."

Iwasaki:
"You've finally realized what's the most important. I'm happy for you, and for someone as young as you, that's already an impressive feat."

Toru: "This FTO used to be a professional racing machine. I'm sure it's more eager to race in circuits than on the streets. It wants to be recognized further, by the world. This diamond is too precious for it to be stained. It always has to shine.

Even though I still hate Mitsukoshi, at least I have my last bit of respect for him. I will straighten up and fly right. I'm going to take this car to its rightful place - the race track. And maybe, opportunities will come."

Nobuhiko: "You already have."

Nobuhiko takes out his wallet, and pulls out a calling card to hand it over to Toru.

Nobuhiko: "Here. The person's name on this card used to be my manager in my early racing days. He's currently looking for another driver. I wish you good luck."

Toru: "R-Really?!? Thank you! Thank you very much!"

Nobuhiko: "Everyone deserves a bright future. Young people like you have so much to learn, and has so much to experience.

Besides, I'm looking forward for another showdown.... in Suzuka. When you are faster, then come at me. I'll be ready."

Toru: "Will keep that in mind!"

With Toru finally having a new lease in life, he is currently in training under the wing of Nobuhiko's former racing manager. He will definitely have a brighter future ahead, after making a realization.

And now going back to Dream Alliance, all of its racing members are now in Germany, as per Hiroyuki's order. He will follow suit, though.

And what are they doing at dawn? At a field, in all places?

Turns out that this is one among of their general meetings. All of the racers, save for Rob and Nigel, are wearing white shirts and shorts (skirt for Maria, naturally).

Rob is wearing a military combat gear, even holding an M16 rifle while inspecting his "troops". He ordered his teammates to assemble, and even stand straight.

Rob: "LISTEN UP! We are now getting serious in this. We will crush the Vision GT Project. And to do that, we need to be in tip-top shape! This is an order from Mr. Hiroyuki."

Takanori: "Oh lord... is this a boot camp?!?"

Rob: "SILENCE, CADET! With me in charge... this is a hell week for you, chaps."

Andy: "It is hell week? I'm game."

Rob: "Snappy response, soldier. Now... EVERYONE DROP!!!"

And they did drop, to prepare for push-ups.

Nobuyuki: "Oh please have mercy..."

Rob: "Give me a thousand push-ups!"

Takanori: "WHAT?!? Is this Sir Ben McCarthy speaking to us right now?"

Takuma: "Enough complaining, little shrimp. This will be fun."

Maria: "We're all going to be sore tonight."

Seeing his teammates performing the rather rigorous push-ups, Nigel scans their bodily activities such as blood pressure, heart rate, adrenaline....

Nigel: "Commencing scanning of target's bodily functions."

THE END

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- I did write that I will post this page on Monday. Well, something that was supposed to happen was canceled, so I had all the time to post this.

- Next arc will be about Nigel... and the return of the shiny chrome SLS AMG GT3! Plus, we will now enter the new chapter of the VGT Saga. The battle shall spread in a global scale. Kazunori made his move? So shall the Dream Alliance!

Haha, Rob never changes, does he? What a man...

As for the rest, that was pretty surprising, the ending for Toru and Nobuhiko's battle...

NURBURGRING LEGEND 2.0

The war wages on. Dream Alliance has gathered its every strength it needs in order to stop Kazunori Yamauchi's Vision Gran Turismo Project. No turning back now, and it has to be done urgently.

For this arc, we move on Nigel Heidelberg first, as the android is more than meets the eye. His courteous demeanor hides a very potential asset. He gets to learn more his true worth in the team, and his bonds with his teammates.

Abram's Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series makes a lone run at the notorious Nordschleife. Along with him is his little brother, Anton.

Anton: "As expected, you really are fast."

Abram: "Praising me won't do any good for you, Anton. That's why you lost."

16831621872_8533fa7a6b_c.jpg

Abram: "Admiration will bring you to nowhere. Our family's business succeeded not because of admiration, but through hard work and focus. Those are the things you lack. All you do is have fun, never even thinking of your consequences."

16645165798_5bf1b355d4_c.jpg

Abram: "And now, you just compromised our entire project."

Anton: "Why blame it on me?!? Besides, Sabrina got arrested! In fact, we can be considered as fugitives already!"

Abram: "Success stories are not always smooth-sailing. Sure, the world views us as criminals, but we will be heroes that sparked the change. We shall free the racing world from the shackles of the FIA..."

Anton: "I just don't understand. FIA is the authority in racing, yet why are we starting a rebellion?"

Abram: "Go ask Kazunori-san. You must have listened to him on that day he hired us."

Location: Nurburgring GP, Nurburg, Germany
Time: 2 pm, two days later

Hiroyuki Hiramoto has arrived in Germany yesterday, but now's not the time to rest up and relax, as the Dream Alliance has no time to spare especially that he summoned all of his drivers in this country. Seeing that more and more futuristic prototypes are on the loose, Hiroyuki decides that he and the team must take action before it can cause problems to the FIA.

Today's agenda? He summoned everyone once again, as he will show the updated SLS GT3 that he sent back to AMG after the GT3 championship.

Hiroyuki: "Thank you all for waiting. As you are probably aware, I sent back the SLS after our victory in the championship. That's because improvements were needed after gathering feedback from you. The three new drivers here haven't experienced it, but consider you three to be lucky to drive the improved version."

16841556801_2bfa4b393a_b.jpg

Hiroyuki: "Because the car is heaviest in its class and still is, we have the liberty to include more power. And another lucky instance is that AMG chose us to test a prototype engine under this car's bonnet."

Andy: "Prototype engine?"

Hiroyuki: "It's based on an engine used in production, definitely, as per the rules but AMG is asking us to test it for them. Plus, it will be ours too."

Maria: "What's under the hood?"

Hiroyuki: "Nigel, please open the bonnet."

Nigel: "Understood."

Upon revealing the engine, everyone is surprised, especially those who had driven the car before - Takuma, Nobuhiko, and Nobuyuki.

The engine is a more compact unit, and with its front-midship layout, there is still more space at the foreground as there was before, but it isn't just empty, though...

Takanori: "Hang on a minute... it's actually smaller! So... how did you deal with the extra space in front?"

Nigel: "Improved telemetry systems fill the extra space left by the previous engine. The new engine is basically the racing version of the M178 4 liter twin turbo V8 from the AMG GTS.

Andy: "They shrunk the engine and added blowers in it. Not really my style, but how much power does it make, Nigel?"

Nigel: "According to the AMG mechanics Hiroyuki-san and I spoke with yesterday, the engine makes 680 horsepower and pushes out 919 Newton Meters of torque."

Takanori: "Eh??? 919 NEWTON METERS?!? That's volcanic!"

Andy: "What's that in my language?"

Nigel: "678 foot pounds."

Rob: "A lot more than my 675 LT would make. That is simply staggering."

Andy: "That's actually a bit more than the torque figure of the current Z06 Corvette."

Nigel: "The turbochargers are located inside the cylinder banks, as opposed to a traditional setup. This makes the engine more compact, and more efficient boost coming from the turbochargers. Plus, this finally guaranteed the car a 50:50 weight distribution even when the driver is inside."

Hiroyuki: "Simply put, we need a lot of torque to deal with the car's 1350 kilograms. Anyhow, let's cut this short and get to driving.

Owen, you do it first. You showed promising performance as of late, and feedback from you is much appreciated."

Owen: "Understood."

Hearing that, Andy just scoffs it off. He has his eyes hot on Owen lately...

Andy: "It's Owen again... he's been on fire."

As planned, Owen gets to drive the improved version of Dream Alliance's racing car.

16841488572_98756a3973_c.jpg

At the step of the pedal, Owen's head already hits the seat's back rest as the result of the monstrous torque figure.

16220270564_cc258384c2_c.jpg

Owen:
"Sweet mother of god! This is frightengly quick!"

16656488159_05b33ae16e_c.jpg

Seeing it pass the main straight, Andy crosses his arms.

Nigel: "What seems to be the matter, Mr. Andy?"

Andy: "Owen Watson. He lit a flame on my spirit. Expect that flame to grow bigger. Gotta admit, I have never beaten his lap times... yet."

Nigel: "Registering figure of speech. Chances of rivalry at 90%"

Andy: "Hmph... figures aren't needed on how big that flame will going to be. But one thing is for sure - my stay here in this team will be truly worthwhile."

Back in the car, Owen is further amazed at the car's traction despite the immense power output.

16220269244_fa132b49f2_c.jpg

Owen: "How can this be possible? I can easily go all out in this car!"

16656486729_c7be96978b_c.jpg

Owen: "I must broaden my knowledge about racing cars as well. I can't afford looking like a total idiot when it comes to mechanics."

Location: Heidelberg home, Nurburg
Time: 7 pm

The Heidelbergs have decided to move to Nurburg after Nigel becomes a full instructor in his own racing school, and as well as to conveniently place them near the Dream Alliance Headquarters.

Dexter, now living freely, is monitoring on Nina Hanne's restoration progress in his laboratory. Her new parts have finally been installed last night and he spends the entire day overseeing her restoration and as well as a system upgrade.

Hearing footsteps, he looks back, and greets his son arriving home.

Nigel: "Good evening, Father. So how is Ms. Nina Hanne's restoration?"

Dexter: "The restoration will be complete by midnight, and then we can activate her by morning."

Nigel: "Affirmative."

Dexter: "So how is your day with your team, Nigel?"

Nigel: "Today, the Dream Alliance tested the improved SLS AMG GT3 racing car in preparation for the fight against the Vision Gran Turismo Project. And I have made a discovery today."

Dexter: "Which is?"

Nigel: "Those connections between my teammates, whether a rivalry or a friendship, seem very strong and important for them. They sometimes put a conflict in my processors. So human beings also change behavior according to their connections with others. It's a very interesting discovery."

Dexter: "Someday Nigel, even you too will realize how important bonds are. Even those can be used as a weapon to conquer all odds. Camaraderie is a very strong factor in a team, and is a must."

Nigel: "Bonds. Camaraderie. Associating connection between the two words."

Dexter: "Sigh... even those cannot be explained by data. You just have to feel it, Nigel. You have the capacity to feel emotion. Remember that I installed an empathy program during your restoration.

And do not worry, Nigel. You too will be a great driver someday. I am working on your latest patch update as well. Version 2.0 shall come soon."

End of Page 1

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- Expect Nigel to be geeky in his dialogues. What do you expect? He's an android!

- Nina Hanne will also have some racing action here. One thing is for sure - she is now on the good side.

- The new setup for the SLS AMG GT3 shall be posted soon. It now has 645 PP.

Location: Heidelberg residence, Nurburg
Time: 9 am, the next day

The sun is already bright at 9 am, and Dexter just gets off his bed. After washing his face, he descends the staircase, and is suddenly greeted by Nina who had just prepared his breakfast at the kitchen. The female android is fully restored, and has all of her memories in the Los Angeles adventure erased, along with new parts and upgraded functions.

Nina: "Good morning, Mr. Heidelberg. I have prepared your breakfast according to your son's dietary recommendations."

Dexter:
"Ah you don't need to go through all the trouble. Once everything is settled, you can finally go back home."

Nina: "Yes, I am excited to tell Adrian about my global adventure."

Dexter: "I'm pretty sure he'll be very excited too, in hearing your stories."

Unbeknownst to Nina, Dexter has fabricated her memories that simulated a traveler across the world. This is all done under Rob Hatch's request.

Dexter: "And also, I have made it a point to maintain and clean your car."

Nina: "I must inform you that Nigel is currently in the Nurburgring with the Dream Alliance."

Dexter: "Of course. I'm very happy he's spending more time with his teammates lately. That shall help him improve."

Nina: "At least he is very happy with his life, he has a father, and many friends as well. It's tough for Adrian, since he can barely socialize due to his physical condition.

Dexter: "Human or Android alike, they are all capable of socializing no matter what the odds are. You must also study human behavior like Nigel does. That way, you can relate to your brother and help him see the world in a brighter way."

Nina: "Human beings are very fascinating indeed."

She then stands by and watch Dexter eat his breakfast. A genuine smile follows.

Dexter: "You don't have to stand there, miss. You can do as you please. I can clean this dining table myself."

Nina: "I have registered gratitude, and as such, I must respond by returning the favor."

Time: 10 am

Oh hi there again, folks. I guess I'll be back for a while, since I took a leave from a British motoring magazine where I currently work at.

It would be a tough venture for sure, and I kinda need some fun to take off some pressure off my shoulders.

And surprise, surprise! Nigel just came back from his racing school, and brought his RUF CTR Yellowbird along! Perhaps he wants to have a little run with the other track day aficionados here.

Takuma: "Hey, your Yellowbird looks neat."

Nigel: "Is it? Hmmmm.... a major repair work was only done after that crash. But thank you, anyway."

Takuma: "Shouldn't you be teaching?"

Nigel: "Even I learned the concept of "taking a break" from human beings. It is much better to have a cool down from work for a while."

Takuma: "That's right. And you have a sizable number of instructors anyway. So, shall we have a drive? I'll be at the passenger seat."

We set off. And the moment we cleared the first corner, there's a huge surge of acceleration! To be honest, though, I've never driven an old-school Porsche 911 before, and then my last review was the current generation, 991-series 911 GT3!

16662576518_05e27fb263_c.jpg

But Nigel is keeping it under control!

And furthermore, it defies its age by easily overtaking more modern sports cars.

16850157935_04497738e3_c.jpg

Nigel: "Power is boosted to over 500 horsepower with modifications with the turbo boost settings."

Knowing how dangerous the Nordschleife is, and how skittish old school 911s are, Nigel's reflexes have definitely improved, giving me the impression like I'm sitting in a rather MODERN car!

16849020482_7830121916_c.jpg

I'm feeling sorry for the Zonda and its driver, though.

16849114201_e36d5a1117_c.jpg

Slow-in, fast out... a simple yet very effective cornering method that everyone can perform. It is said that a classic 911 must tackle the corners that way.

Takuma: "Nigel, I must say, you really are a monster."

Nigel: "Monster?"

Takuma: "Figure of speech. It just means you're truly skilled."

Nigel: "I just received a minor update for my algorithms and reflex mechanisms. I am expected for a major update soon."

Takuma: "I see. It just shows how much your father loves you."

16849113731_f3d4126448_c.jpg

Nigel: "I do get this unknown feeling that I have yet to register. It's like when I do something positive, people will praise me, and it boosts my capabilities."

He deserves all the praise, that's for sure. It is good that he is learning to empathize and act more of a human being.

And another praise there, as he controls the slide.

16642854057_eae0bd0bb4_c.jpg

Takuma: "Nigel, I bet you will be a great man someday. You will be truly remembered. You know, a praise is what encourages people to do better. It is a very nice feeling to be praised, because that just means that people recognize and even care for you. They want to see you succeed in life."

Nigel: "So positive reinforcement is indeed a very effective tool for improvement. Now I see why human beings cheer for one another. It's those feelings of encouragement that boosts my performance."

Takuma: "That's because we are a big family, Nigel. We look out for each other. Remember that. We all want to see you soar. There is something we call Morale. It is one of the driving forces for us to succeed. You boost one's morale by praising or Positive Reinforcement, as you put it."

Nigel: "Registering MORALE. Another thing I learned from human behavior today."
