Personally I think this was a great opportunity for Sony and they blew it. While simply having this type of Q&A is better than nothing, its practically worthless. I really do not understand why Sony still does not get the the general public does not like contrived PR responses. We want a personal, affirmative response regardless if that response is something we do not like. I mean seriously all he said was "we have lots of good games, 3D is great, GT5 yeah its coming". This guy obviously does not have any passion for Playstation or his job.

The most i expected was:
,,you will get the release date at E3"..
For me, I'm getting every day a little more worried that the release date will not be given at E3 and that they will be talking about 3D and move, and another SOOOOON.
Dude, you share my fear- the release date is not on this year. They can't confirm to a large number of disgruntled fans because they are not sure that GT5 can release this year. GT5 may encounter significant technical problems about 3D and move technology. If the problems are not big enough to worry them, they will tell us directly all about the release date after our long, painful wait. Releasing the game this year is 50% probability, I guess. I may be a spoilsport, but I'm just honest to share my fear.

Haha; well, I guess that it's so close to E3 that our eyes were already glancing there anyway. But, does anyone else think that Andrew was giving us the finger by answering that question literally; or did he perhaps totally misunderstand the climate in the GT community? Even an 'E3 answer' would have been better (again, since we were already expecting it).

If E3 weren't around the corner, I would be almost put-off by the now comical response of 'soon'. Good sir, if you misuse or over-use a word, it changes its meaning (from, in this case, 'an undefined, but close period of time', to simply 'an undefined period of time', which then becomes 'indefinite' or a similar word used in the correct context); and I thought text-speak was the real threat to the English language...

Again this kind of interview is a great step in the right direction; but don't insult our intelligence with vague and elusive terms of which we've had truck-loads of lately. The Other OS question was a great opportunity to gauge exactly what was going on (with an explanation from SONY), and to understand and decide how we felt about this issue. Unfortunately, however, all we got was an unexplained, 'interests of the PlayStation community' response. I don't feel more supportive of SONY, I feel a bit excluded, or patronised, by this interview. Either this, or the news is bad enough that revealing it would seriously damage SONY. Everyone's very open when it's in their interests, aren't they?

(Sigh) Thanks anyway, MB. I appreciate the effort.

Have you ever considered that:

1. He will not have been allowed to give the release date
2. He clearly was not allowed to give the time that they will announce the release date

???

Not worth panicking or worrying over. If E3 comes and goes and we still do not have a release date, that's different...

Clearly hes not allowed to give the release date, if he do internet will explode.

I just called in here to see if they had managed to get these questions answered yet & well I must say that I don't really know why I thought they would tell us any more than they did :indiff:

This whole GT5 "Will they tell us anything or not?" is a joke, I don't think Sony cares about fans of the GT series very much as they know that we will obediently continue to buy consoles, steering wheels & even other ps3 games whilst we blindly wait for the game which we really want to be released :guilty:

Who do you think are the real daft ones here, Sony or us for continually throwing more money at them until they finally release the game? :ouch:

The funny thing is, they would actually get more money from me if I would know when GT5 will be out. I'm anything but rich, so I need to know if I can spend money on other games now, or if I rather wait for 2-3 months so I can buy GT5 at launch. If I'd know that GT5 will be out in December, I would buy ModNationRacers, but since GT5 could also come out in July or August, I cannot risk that.

To be fair, if all people are doing is buying a PS3 (and even a wheel) just to play GT5, yes, they are the real daft ones. However, most people have a PS3 and accessories for more than just GT5 (although I admit, I bought a PS3 in the first place because of the GT franchise).

With or without people throwing money at them, I doubt that the release schedule of GT5 would have been any different, so all we can do is sit and wait, passing allocated gaming time playing other games. Believe it or not, SCE does not just exist purely to deliver us Gran Turismo, although you might like to think differently as a fan of the series.

Makes sense, although on the other hand if you're like me ( and I'm also far from being rich ), once I do get GT5 I probably could seal my PS3 as that disk probably won't come out again for the next couple of years.
In the meantime I ordered Red Dead Redemption ( which i expect to fall on my doormat any minute now ) to bridge the yet unknown gap.
I do love playing other games, but when I get my copy of GT5 I won't be interested in buying anything else very soon...:)

The uncertainty made me buy that game, if I knew GT5 would be out very soon I would have waited and bought RDR perhaps later........

I know that, what I'm frustrated at is the endless lack of any real information about the game. It's been discussed at length throughout these forums every time there's a new games convention or trade show coming up

"Now they will reveal GT5"

or

"The release is imminent, we'll know all we need to know after ****"

Sometimes we get shown a new trailer or they might tell us about some new feature they are wanting to implement, but we still seem to get no closer to knowing anything about the game.

I saw this Q & A session as a real chance that we would at least get some sort of meaningful response to what most, if not all of us here at GtPlanet have been wanting to find out for a long time. I didn't post a question about GT5 there myself but, my goodness, there were enough people who did & I maybe a bit naively, thought that our collective message would have got through.

"Please sir, will you tell us something about GT5?"

After waiting a long time for Mr. House to respond, all we are left with is that GT5 is not a myth, it looks great & we can play it soon. Have we learned anything there at all? No. It looks like Sony or Mr. House has completely sidestepped GT5 and spoke about other things, fair enough, I do not know how the questions were selected for Mr. House but I am amazed that this was the only response that was anything GT related.

I know that E3 is just a few weeks away & that Sony has confirmed GT5 will be present but it all seems a bit deja vu to me. I was anticipating the game just as much as this on the run up to last years E3, there had been plenty of cryptic messages some even from Polyphony themselves all suggesting the game would be out last year. I'm sure most of us know how the story goes from that point to now and we are still waiting for any scraps of information to come our way.

I only really play racing games as I don't generally get a lot of spare time. To give you an example, I got Fallout 3 for Christmas 2008 and I've only got through 6% the game, not because I don't like it I just don't have more than an hour or two a week to play PS3 and I just couldn't get involved enough in the game to really enjoy it. Racing games are perfect for me, even if I only have 30 minutes to spare, thats enough time for a decent race somewhere. Yes I bought a 60G PS3 just for GT in the first instance but now I have a selection of racing games like Supercar Challenge, F1CE and Ferrari Challenge as well as Prologue & GT4. I'm disappointed that even though GT5 was being mentioned at the same time as the console was being released I'm still waiting to play it and still do not know all that much about the game and it does feel like I've been waiting an eternity for it.

Sorry for the extra long post guys, I've got a lot of pent up frustration regarding GT5.

Agreed. If I know that GT5 will be out this December, I'll buy Modnation racer too.

I was talking on another forum a few weeks back, that it would not surprise me in the slightest if Sony roll out GT with their global release of 3Dtv which is between the middle and end of June. The only reason why the delay was made from earlier in the year is because Sony Requested 3D integration.

You have the newest technology and almost the biggest game on a console that supports this technology, it makes logical sense to entice the buyer to buy your product by adding the game as an incentive.

Of course this is just my opinion but from a marketing standpoint, its a very good way of selling a product that the market is still sceptical about given that we already have HDtv

So will GT5 include drag racing?
Most likely not something like this (nothing like it has been shown as of yet).

But with 1000 cars, who knows. And with the Top Gear track included (probably with the airstrip), we could have some kind of head-to-head races.
