BIG DOWNER...........................................................................................................................................ALTHOUGH NO MORE THAN WE EXPECTED BEFORE E3.......

Is Gran Turismo 5 just a myth? (Nukem79, Macasfaj, yankien, NICKY_OM_13)
ANDREW HOUSE ANSWER:
Absolutely not. It’s looking amazing and will be out soon.

That's it.. thats all he could muster..

E3 it is then...
SOON? We all know that. Is he kidding? SOONY

lol reading this interview feels like an epic fail.
no important questions, not clear answers.... just typical sony marketing rubbish. well, just a few weeks till e3

SOONYYYYY !!! Imagine the E3 press conference ends with : ,,GT5 will release SOON"
It's so possible!

BTW if you look fast, you can already find 3 or 4 "soons" in that interview!
It's a joke!

,,soon, on the horizon, soon, later this year, soon, i promise , soon , soon , soon ...,later, soon.."

In E3, we will receive big, big, explosive news - GT5 will release SOON. Wow! So great!

Edit: To be honest, he should not use the word "soon", otherwise he wanted to be teased :)

Soon-adverb,-er, -est.

1.
within a short period after this or that time, event, etc.: We shall know soon after he calls.

2.
before long; in the near future; at an early date: Let's leave soon.

3.
promptly or quickly: He came as soon as he could.

4.
readily or willingly: I would as soon walk as ride.

5.
early in a period of time; before the time specified is much advanced: soon at night; soon in the evening.

6.
Obsolete. immediately; at once; forthwith.

Well, he does make one distinction by using both "very soon" and "soon", e.g.

Will PlayStation Network become a paying service? (tako2008, natdark)
I can assure you that the current PSN as you know it will remain a free service. It is something that our competitors don’t offer and something that shows our loyalty to the PlayStation Community. However, Kaz Hirai stated a few months ago that we were looking at a premium service to sit alongside the current free service and that objective has not changed. You’ll learn more about it very soon.

"very soon" sounds like E3, so "soon" would be after E3 (probably this year, or maybe the next) ..... :sly:

"Soon" is worse than nothing.

Agreed.

I wish they'd pay me to be a Sony CEO, I can sit around counting money and answering soon to every question..

I'd even make the word 'soon' edgy by saying it with different accents and doing quirky videos like that SCEA VP of Marketing guy.... (forgotten his name..)

"Soon" is worse than nothing.

I dont even know why people set themselves up for failure. Everyone knows these interviews are just a waste of time. They will never give us that real good info we want. I will wait for E3 to get excited 👍

lol, well, that was a disappointing bit of information, if you can even call it that.
the only thing differing is the person who gave us the soon...

yukk...very disappointing

(created by Sony) in a way that teases its customers as much as it can, brings as much as disappointment for them, and makes as much as money from them.
e.g. GT5 will be released soon.

Well I hoped for something honest at least, that's just pathetic.
They said it will come soon after GTPSP last year, so what the hell does "soon" mean?

He's one of a handful of the most important people in the Sony Entertainment division, and they have spent $60M on a franchise, and this is his best offering of information.

It says so much about Sony these days.

I sorely wish that Polyphony Digital were independent.

Which game is going to be the "big one" after GT5? (Spurvugle)

I think we have a fantastic line-up of games coming out later this year and into 2011. We have just announced LittleBigPlanet 2, which is very exciting. The original game changed the way developers now look at developing games and the things Media Molecule has done with the sequel are truly incredible. I can’t wait for LBP2 to come out and can promise you that it will be great.

I am hoping that he is saying that GT5 will be out soon, and hopefully that's why he is mentioning the 'NEXT BIG ONE' after GT5's release will come toward the end of the year into 2011.

Beyond disappointing, bordering on embarrassing!

Low-Man-on-Totam-Pole meet Bottom-of-the-Barrell.

"How do you do?"

"Soon"

"Wait, wut?"

If I may quote Amar (on Neogaf):

As I said, in April 209 I was told that game will be released in November 2009 worldwide - for the first time in series history.
So back then, "soon" meant within 2 months.

They have put on some answers I don't know if this is the full thing thought since it's not from andrew. No mention of gt5 in these though. :(

Edit: Ignore this post My pc didn't load the last couple of posts so I didn't know that info above had allready been posted.

I expected nothing more, and hence am fully satisfied with that answer. If E3 wasn't around the corner, I might think differently.

As for you wanting PD to be independent, are you really sure about that?

The most i expected was:
,,you will get the release date at E3"..
For me, I'm getting every day a little more worried that the release date will not be given at E3 and that they will be talking about 3D and move, and another SOOOOON.

If I was the Mr. House I would have said, "While I can't confirm GT5's release date at this point and time, I can remind you that E3 is just around the corner and that Peter Dille confirmed at GDC that the game is coming out this year. Mr. Yamauchi and his team have been working very and that the game will be well worth the wait." That reveals nothing more than what he said but is much more reassuring and assertive.

Yes. It's that simple. It only takes a few words to lift a spirit or two, but those words are missing in action. I'm not sure what they're attempting to do at E3, besides heavily market their 3D technology and games, but I hope Gran Turismo 5 is given a large portion of their time as it is their most successful franchise.

And I can only hope that they're so tight-lipped because they really want to surprise us or shatter the skepticism that has been running high for a while. While I do not believe Gran Turismo 5 will be released soon after E3 (meaning before August), it would be one of the slickest moves I've seen by any major company. Let us hope!

Agreed. It's a more diplomatic answer.

The more I think about it, it would appear that Mr. House was not aware of the amount of attention the Q&A request got regarding GT5. He must not have had knowledge of the 15+pages of "When will GT5 be released?" posts in various fonts and colors, because his answer to the "myth" question posted in his answers is appropriate from that perspective.

However, if he DID know of the Q&A hijacking, then his response is a direct result of that. And quite more than a little condescending.👎👎:grumpy:

Maybe he knew, maybe not. Somebody else will have pre-selected the questions for him to answer, so yes, his answer that that question was poignant. However, the person selecting the questions will have seen the barrage of childish GT5 posts, and thus carefully chosen a question. They could quite easily have picked a question that specifically asked about the release date and when we might find that out. Such a sensible question could have at least prompted a sensible answer along the lines of things getting announced at E3. Instead, they picked a question that reeks of frustration, and as such was deserving of the short, sharp, vague response it got. They are probably just as fed up of getting asked about it as we are waiting for it.
