Slightly more optimistic to the game after the delay announcement. Considering no proper gameplay or even screenshot was released so far.

Also, they are rushing for the last WRC game this year with the originally planned release of TDU SC sounds like too much for KT to handle in a year.

That section of the article refers to things in previous TDU titles, and follows on with KT's note that "Our goal is to meet those expectations and to stay true to the franchise's DNA by including all those details."

We've heard nothing about almost anything in TDUSC to say one way or the other!
The issue is with the paragraph after that list.
Fans will be happy to hear that the Solar Crown team are aware of these traits — and many others — and will include them in the upcoming game.
When I read that, I got excited because the list of traits includes purchasing houses, and that it will be included in the game as well. I've been itching to have that feature confirmed, so I was wondering if you knew something else I did not.

On KT's note, the list to which they say they want to meet expectations...
Buying a car from a dealership, listening to the radio while driving, putting the top down when the rain stops, using the turn signals properly, and even simply opening the window are all details that millions of players have fallen in love with.
...does not mention the purchasing of houses, which unfortunately still leaves the feature in the air.

I would think that, if they want to stay true to TDU's DNA, houses are a must. But sometimes developers have a different vision, and I'm still unsure whether they actually plan to let us own a bunch of properties, all over Hong Kong Island, instead of just staying at a hotel.

Which is KT's own statement: "Our goal is to meet those expectations and to stay true to the franchise's DNA by including all those details."

It reads that KT is aware of TDU's "DNA" - including [this list of traits] - and is looking to be true to that by including [TDU's traits] in TDUSC. It's not an exclusive, inclusive, or exhaustive list.

About TDUSC? Nope. We know nothing but what's in the press releases.

Well, more than that, it's unwieldy to have a 30 square mile game world with 350 miles of roads and only one place where you can interact with the various game menus. If you find yourself 175 miles away from the hotel, it'll be a couple of hours before you can, for example, change cars...

I see where you're coming from but, personally, I would have worded things a little differently. I guess we can agree to disagree with this one.

Alright. Thank you for that. I was hoping you did, as confirmation of that feature would have made me happier about this upcoming game.

Unless you have something like a fast travel feature implemented. Then, travelling there takes just a few seconds. I believe past TDUs did have fast travel, but I may be wrong. I believe the way it worked in the previous games was, if you've driven on that road before, you can teleport there, or something like that.

This article mentions the purchasing of houses. While that is part of TDU's DNA, it's very much is still in the air whether we will have houses or not, as it hasn't been mention on the recent update. The only thing we have, as far as I'm aware, about livable spaces, is an upgradable suite in the Solar Hotel:

Is there anything else you've found about houses being a thing?
Maybe they realised how expensive Hong Kong's property market is?

Not going to lie, I thought about that too. Hong Kong Island, specifically, is one of, if not the most expensive place, in the whole world, to buy real-estate.

Then again, if you have the cash to have and maintain 80+ exotics and classics, you can probably afford Hong Kong property.

Regarding the Switch-Version. They managed it to make a wonderful PSP-Version including the full map of TDU1. Burnout Paradise or Snowrunner/Mudrunner also working good on the Switch. So I think it will be possible but it's not a easy port and more of a individual version of the game. I hope it won't be a mess like the very ugly port of Art of Rally which is awful on the Switch.

Switch version might just be running on the cloud like other games (Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.). I don't see the point in canceling the PS4/XBO versions if they were going to make the game scalable down to Switch.

A true next gen Hong Kong sandbox would be an enticing prospect, have good memories of the old sleeping dogs map. Be nice to see KT flex and give us something polished rather than their usual rush-ware, so a delay is welcome.

For what it's worth, checking on Google Maps, it looks like the farthest away from the location of the Solar Crown (based on the trailer) you can possibly be is only about 12mi (19km).

Hong Kong Island is only about 6 x 9 miles and the Solar Crown is pretty centrally located.

Its been quiet on the TDUSC front since the delay. If anyone fancies filling the time, I just spent the last 7 weeks on and off writing, recording and editing an extended look back on TDU2. If you fancy a trip down memory lane or want to learn what this franchise is all about, this video should have you covered on all bases :)

Here’s something that occurred to me while playing Sleeping Dogs; a game which is set in Hong Kong, like TDU Solar Crown will be. Hong Kong drives on the left, so will the cars in TDU Solar Crown be modelled in right-hand drive? I know that Forza Horizon 3 (set in Australia) and Horizon 4 (set in Britain) had a lot of left-hand drive cars, because they were carried over from previous Forza games. Obviously, this isn’t going to be the case with TDU Solar Crown (the previous game in that series being eleven years and two console generations ago). So, will Kylotonn go to the extra effort to model the cars in right-hand drive, or will they go with left-hand drive like the European-market cars they will likely be scanning, and come up with some in-story excuse like the cars being imported to Hong Kong specifically for the Solar Crown tournament or something?

Especially with most cars beeing sportscars, supercars and hypercars or from european premium manufacturers it is absolutely not uncommon having them driven in left hand drive configuration in Hong Kong. Don't forget that in China itself all roads are beeing driven on the right side. Macau is absolutely confusing since they have both, most motorways are driven on the right while as soon as you leave them you are back on the left.

A fighting game centric controller for PS5 would be ideal, maybe nacon makes it happen.

Yes. It was announced...last year? Earlier this year? I don't remember but I really, really hope it's good.

RoboCop is something that should easily translate to a video game, but no one seems to get it right.
Your right. The only games I've liked is the, (showing my age), first ZX Spectrum game by Ocean and the Data East arcade machine, (hard as nails). Fingers crossed for something good, go Robo!

Some of the Robocop games are just criminal...

id buy that for a dollar GIF

The Robocop game is from the same devs as Terminator: Resistance and they nailed that one. That said, I don't think it's easy at all to get it right; Verhoevens message seems to be lost on many...
While very true, and I'm admittedly very biased here as I've seen the movie enough times to not only play the movie in my head in its entirety, but to also know almost exactly where the movie is relative to the time it started and when I'm tuning in.

What? Doesn't everyone know the movie that well? Problems? I don't have problems, shut up.

Joking aside, while very true, there's a lot to pull from in modern day where it wouldn't really be satire at all. Hell, other than the flippant stuff like Bixby Snyder and the 6000 SUX, nothing has really changed much at all. If anything, it's even worse! The under and overtones of the original aren't what I'm concerned with — it's the gameplay.

It shouldn't be a simple FPS unless they strike it hot in a Metroid Prime-esque way, and I don't know if that's in their wheelhouse. How do you integrate the directives; the targeting system/interface; how do you handle his human/machine identity; do you get Peter Weller?

I'm more worried about those things. It's a complete package, absolutely, but if the gameplay sucks then it wouldn't really matter if they nail the story because you wouldn't want to play it in the first place.
