Yes, I know DD Pro is better. I've read everything and watched every youtuber making comparisons/reviewing both devices.

I can buy now TGT2 + TLCM for 780 € at local retailer
Or
Pay 1050 € for DD Pro, availability date unknown.

I play only GT7, what should I do? What would you do? Is here someone who played GT7 on both wheels? Is there so much difference?

Please help, because I've been reading for two weeks and can't decide...

Both are very good at Gran Turismo.
I am not a fan of Fanatec as I have had bad experiences with them, but I can judge this objectively and tell you clearly.
No matter what decision you make, you're not doing anything wrong.
I have had a Thrustmaster T-GT since Christmas 2017 and it still does a great job.
I feel no need to switch to a DD now, the T-GT feels really good to me.

I tested the DD Pro at a friend's house. However, I can't make a good comparison because his rig and steering wheel settings didn't suit me at all.

Do you not have the ability to order straight from fanatec? Or is the 1050 the price for the premium bundle? If that's the case, I'd suggest only getting the base dd pro+load cell.
As shoddy as fanatec's quality control has been the past 2 years I still think you're better off with the DD PRO. The difference is worth the ~25% price increase over the tgt2 if the original tgt is anything to go by.

Having used the TGT many times and currently owning DD Pro 8Nm I have to say that whilst the TGT is a great setup, the fabulous DD motor in the DD Pro puts the Fanatec wheelbase in a somewhat different league for me.

I also prefer the Fanatec ecosystem overall to that offered by Thrustmaster. More higher quality choices of rims and pedals etc.

I've seen people claiming that TGT/TGT2 is better for GT Sport and GT7 in terms of improving lap time and racing because of T-DFB (extra vibration signaling oversteer, understeer, weight transfer, etc.), but I've never tried one.

One thing I don't like about the TGT2 is that it has a pretty noticeable fan inside the main housing running all the time. Only noticeable for the brief times I'm not using headphones when playing GT but worth mentioning. Otherwise seems like a fine choice, especially when coupled with the LCM pedals.
The DFB thingie delivers vibrations into my pedals, that's a nice effect and quite immersive.

I haven't tried Fanatec. They do look a bit more complicated to set up (more tuning options, might even be a good thing) and a bit less compatible, driver-wise. Also for my taste I found too many stories about failing units and issues with the quick release when doing my research. Eco system looks quite a bit better though, granted.

I think I'll go for TGT2. You know, 23000 hours of work... xd

I'm not a pro and tgt2 should be plug&play, something for me.

I've seen photos of broken plastic Quick releases. A lot of complaints also about metal Quick releases and general quality and issues with rma process, customer service...

Surely it is better wheel overall, but can be problematic.

Good luck with your purchase. I hope the TM wheel you get is a good one because yes whilst you are right to call out Fanatec customer service I personally found Thrustmaster to be so bad that I will never buy another product from them ever again.

I was in a similar position to the original poster when wanting to upgrade from a g29. The things that put me off from the fanatec was the plastic wheel, ive Tried the csl and the rim was awful, much worse in your hands than the leather g29. I guessed that the fanatec rim would feel like the steering wheel ina van rather than then nice leather one on the t gt. obviously if you wear gloves thats not really an issue
The other thing that put me off is some people Say the load cell on the fanatec is really hard. I don’t have a rig just a wheel stand and the lcm is a lot more customisable in stiffness
The final thing that put me over onto the t gt was I’ve never tried a dd wheel so don’t know what I’m missing. The T gt was a massive upgrade over the g29 and I can always get a thrustmaster dd further down the line when it finally comes out

I agree that the official Gran Turismo rim is covered in way too much plastic. That's the reason I went for the standalone 8Nm base and chose the CSL Elite WRC rim which has a nice Alcantara finish. And I also don't think the default Fanatec load cell would be great on a wheelstand unless you have a way to make sure your seat and wheelstand cannot move apart from each other. There are some softer elastomers available for the Fanatec loadcell pedals but that's extra money of course.

I have a T-GT with T-Lcm Paddles on a PlaySeat sensation pro, and love it.

The DFB delivers vibrations into my pedals whole rig , that's a nice effect and quite immersive. It makes you push just a little bit harder because you could feel more things of the car. This is the biggest loss for people that go to ddpro. Yes I direct wheel drive is more precise but the sense of immersion with the vibration it’s just
Amazing, The only way would be to invest in a buttkicker but not 100% it will work as well as the PS5 and Gran Turismo do not support it.

I had one TM product, the T300RS and I got rid of it for my first Fanatec product because it would randomly pause the game. As you can expect, thats a no-no for OLR and it never got fixed, so I threw it away. I couldn't be happier with Fanatec products, they are superior in every way to other manufacturers. They've really improved their support system/team and with having a distribution hub in California it doesn't take long for RMA turn arounds. But to each their own, they are more expensive, but so are Mercedes-Benz 🤷‍♂️

Well Fanatec have a CSL DD base and you can put any wheel on it assuming you're talking about PC because you mention the Thrustmaster DD which as far as I'm aware is only compatible with PC.

Im guessing by the time I’m in the market for a new wheel, which will be a couple of years. Thrustmaster will have released a DD for PlayStation

Hi there. I know this is a really old post but I'm in exactly this position now and my head is ready to explode.

Just wondering what you did in the end and also what you think of the product you went with.

Thank you if you do reply but understands it's old if you don't. 🙂
