Razia's website shows up the same article from Globo.
It's still not confirmation. For all you know, Razia's webmaster has programmed the site with a script that searches news articles for his name and re-posts them.

Razia is not confirmed at Marussia until he and/or the team announce it. If this was a genuine story, it would have been picked up by all of the major motorsport news sources - Autosport, F1 Fanatic, etc. - by now.

If you're so sure that this is confirmation of Razia at Marussia, then please explain to me why nobody from Marussia has stepped forward and said "Razia will be racing for us"?

Man, now I'm hoping Petrov can hop over to Marussia. I don't know why they would want to run two new drivers in Chilton and Razia. Still very happy for GvdG, it's about time.

I was thinking that they might bring in sponsorship deals?

Still wouldn't rule Petrov out of a Force India seat, despite the apparent 'not in talks' response.

Bob Fernley also said "We've got a number of people pooled that we want to look at for the primary drive..."

Although that 'number' could be just 2. (Jules Bianchi and Senna most likely). On paper Senna has the money and Petrov has the ability.

I'd say there are better drivers that could be in that seat. There will be a Dutchman in F1 in a year or two with Frijns anyway.

How do you know if any other driver will be 'better' then guido???you dont!

Yes,if Alonso or so would drive the car you would expect better...but it will still be driving a Catheram...so driving at the back of the field!!

Guido has a lot of potential...and so does Frijns...but with every "new kid on the block" they all have to show their potential in F1!!!

Guess we will just have to wait and see how they perform wont we...:)

Funny thing is ,in Dutch newspapers and social media,Guido is being rated as a loser AND a hero....but in all,we are very!!!happy a Dutchman is again part of the elite 22 drivers who will be in a F1 car this year... 👍

Fact is that both have won several championships wich really matter, and are not in the position where they are now because of just money...there is (and i am not one to say this quickly)talent there!!!

So i am really lookimg foreward to 1st race in Australia....damn,its been 6 years since...ahhhhh never mind :dunce:

Go Guido!!!!!

:)

van der Garde has been pretty un-convincing in GP2. He should have really mounted a title challenge last year but never came close.

F1 is always a different ball game of course and I guess he's got fairly equal competition from fellow mediocrity in Gutierrez, Chilton and possibly Razia and Bianchi. (I'd include Bottas as well but its difficult to judge considering he never really raced at GP2/FR3.5 level).

I guess if I was going to pick the best of the rookies I'd go with Bottas or van der Garde...but its not really saying much.

I'm sure we'll be set for some surprises in any case although most of these rookies are going to struggle to "surprise" in a Caterham or Marussia.

Bottas has been described as the next flying finn, i think he will be quick, especially since when bottas did friday practices last year he was as fast if not quicker than maldonado when driving bruno senna's car. I heard from somewhere he has received coaching from ether mika hakkinen or kimi raikkonen or both.

I don't know what Caterham were thinking. Six months ago, they looked like they could have scored their first points. Now, they've ditched the drivers who scored their best results, and instead taken Charles Pic, whose most-notable achievement to date as been losing his team tenth place in the World Constructors' Championship; and Giedo van der Garde, who by all accounts has spent the past five years making increasingly-desperate attempts at breaking into Formula 1.

Meanwhile, Marussia showed genuine improvement late in 2012, and Pat Symonds has served his ban from the Singapore incident and can now actively develop the car. Losing Timo Glock might have been a blow, but at least Marussia's GP2 graduate demonstrated considerably improvement between 2011 and 2012.

Caterham had better hope that Scorpion Racing make it onto the 2013 grid - because at this rate, that's the only way they're going to avoid the wooden spoon.

Eh, while I agree that these teams are better off with drivers like Kovalainen and Glock...they don't really need them.
Its actually been surprising for small backmarker teams to even have ex-race winners or podium-ers.

This situation is more normal - where they take on rookies and inexperienced guys for their money.

I don't agree that they are necessarily going backwards with these drivers. Its more important to have the money and develop a better car or even just survive than develop a slow car and put a good driver in it.

I actually think they could score a point or two with Pic or VdG if the car is good enough as I think they are reliable. Marussia is a bit of an unknown with Chilton but Razia might do a decent job too.

Its hardly like were talking about them hiring Riccardo Rosset is it?

Well, thats after 3 seasons with experienced drivers...so I'd hardly blame the drivers for that.

You would think after so long as an F1 fan e.g. for as long as I can remember, I would be used to the dichotomy of supporting a driver who has gone to a new team, while also staying loyal to one's favourite team. I'm sure it's very common, but Lewis Hamilton and McLaren were much more than merely a good combination - but that Lewis and McLaren developed together and it really, really showed... so, I'm going to support Lewis at Mercedes - or anywhere for that matter - but I'm going to miss rooting for McLaren quite so much... and it will take some getting used to supporting Mercedes

It was Mika, he is also his agent i think. Very close to an agent atleast.

...and I fell off my chair.

Senna out of Formula 1? Thank heavens.

+1. No more Senna vs. Maldonado arguments in the race threads! :P

Senna should be exponentially more suited to sportscar racing, he just didn't have the raw pace to compete in F1. Best of luck to him, now to see who gets the final spot at Force India. (Assuming Razia is in at Marussia, though not yet confirmed). I hope Sutil gets the seat, but sadly Bianchi will probably get it, with FI anounching a switch to Ferrari engines in 2014.

Why would you prefer Sutil get the seat over Bianchi?

We known Bianchi can be as erratic as he is fast, but I think that he's settled down a bit. He won the Formula 3 Euroseries in 2009, and straight away he was hailed as the Next Big Thing and put on the fast track to Formula 1. His problem was that he tried a little bit too hard to live up to his expectations; a lot of his driving seemed to be quite forced at times, in contrast to his being more relaxed in Formula 3. And he also developed the habit of trying to win races at the first corner, compounding the problem. Nevertheless, he still placed third in GP2 in 2010 and 2011, which is no small feat.

On the other hand, he was much more measured and mature when he got into Formula Renault 3.5, and he placed second there in his maiden season. At the very least, he's probably more deserving of a seat in Formula 1 than Max Chilton, Giedo van der Garde, Charles Pic, Luiz Razia, Davide Valsecchi and possibly Esteban Gutierrez, depending on your opinion of him.

I wouldn't be angry to see Bianchi get the seat, but I just think it would be nice to see Sutil beat Di Resta again. Agreed on the fact that Bianchi deserves a seat more than those listed above, he has shown genuine flashes of talent, I just think he should take advantage of the fact he is still eligible for both GP2 and FR3.5 and take another year to mature before entering F1. He just doesn't quite seem ready yet, although he has certainly matured since he entered GP2.

Teams seam to be rushing drivers that aren't ready for F1 yet, like Chilton and Gutierrez, who could both benefit from another year in the development series.

Why?

Sutil beat di Resta in 2011. Hulkenberg beat him in 2012. And i wouldn't be surprised if Bianchi (assuming he gets the seat) were to beat him in 2013. If anything, Sutil should be replacing di Resta, not partnering him.

I don't think either of those two need another year in development. I think they've acheived as much in GP2 as they're going to, which doesn't necessarily mean that they're ready for Formula 1, but rather that if they don't make the transition now, they're probably not going to. Nor do I think Gutierrez is as bad as people make him out to be.
