Actually the 1950 British GP was not the first Grand Prix race, not by a long shot. It was, however, the first GP which was part of a championship series with a declared overall winner.

I was keeping it simple as this is a non-motorsport thread. Most races pre-war were Grande Epreuves but again, it's beside the point in a thread like this.
 
Is that a sequence shot? it seems like it should be going in a LOONG diagonal. I also don't see that many planes that close together... ever, if it's not. ;)
 
Isn't Daytona a bit not-mid-western to get Tornadoes?

It's nothing unusual. I've been around tornadoes and hurricanes in and around Daytona and all around Florida. In fact I think I've experienced more tornadoes in Florida than here in Indiana.

It's warm, humid, flat and windy. Prime tornado brewin' terrain. It's just not as much of those things as the Great Plains. Very heavy thunderstorms are very common though because the penninsula isn't very wide storms often make it to the ocean before they get strong enough to spawn tornadoes.
