And to the right, there appears to be a man with two faces... (and no, I don't mean Bill Clinton)

Damn, you're right!

Just look at this:

Tornado season should be coming here pretty soon where I live and with that said: 1999 Oklahoma tornado outbreak

Check out the part with the subject "The Moore F5". That tornado caused weather forecasters to rethink the scale in which tornadoes are classified and came within a couple miles of where I live.

Glad to hear you're OK. It must've been scary and frightning, and that tornado caused a serious amount of damage. I can't deny the fact that I would an adrenaline rush though if I'd chase one. They are deadly, yes, but that's what storm chasers are for, to find out more about them.

I've seen the Moore tornado a bunch of times, it's huge indeed, but it's far more enjoyable to see such a beautiful, yet devastating thing on plains without any structures or people/animals. Hell, who'd consider the Oklahoma tornado to be an awesome tornado?

I'm a Reed Timmer fanboy though, you've got to respect the guy for coming so close to tornado's with only a driver, a "hail-man " and his laptop and a camera. Just finished watching Storm Chasers: Season 2, and he saw about 3 times the amount of tornado's the other two teams did...

Got to say, I watched a video of that volcano this morning and my first thought was not "Wow, that's amazing!" but "Wow, I wouldn't like to be in the same boat as the person taking the pictures"... presumably, being an undersea volcano and all, there was no real way of knowing where another plume might come up, and they were mighty close the ones that were already there...

Finally found someone who syndicated some proper-sized photos. Damn AP...

They, Tonga, just experienced a 7.9 earthquake as well... let's pray we don't see a repeat of the same devastation and loss off life from another tsunami as we did in 2004.

Tsunami warnings have been issued, although the 2004 Indian Ocean quake was well over 100 times as powerful :ill:

Completely fine, it never came within more than about two miles of where I live. Honestly, I do not find tornadoes to be that scary. They occur enough to be commonplace that safety precautions become almost second nature. It also helps that the National Weather Service/weather forecasters do(es) an excellent job of warning people far in advance that tornadoes are coming.

The Moore tornado is awesome in how fast the winds were blowing and how much power was generated by the storm. But that is the only awesome aspect. The death and carnage it caused is absolutely terrible and it is very fortunate that more lives were not ended.

I honestly could not tell you who that is because I do not know any of the storm chasers. I could only tell you the name of one of the local stations' helicopter pilots and that is Val Caster. He is part of the News 9 team, along with Gary England. Speaking of Gary England, someone came up with a drinking game involving his newscasts during storms. Gary England Drinking Game

While searching for high resolution images of the latest Tonga eruption, I came across these photos.. and yes, those are homes about to be annihilated by the pyroclastic clouds:

And here is an amazing and rare example of a Plinian eruption made famous by the 79 AD eruption of Mt. Vesuvius:

Those are great, especially the 1st one. Scary stuff.

And now for something really creepy (gives me goosebumps):

Thanks, guys. :)

Here's the bigger versions, and a few more of this particular snake, I just love it.
It creeps me out, but attracts me at the same time.
