Same here, at San Francisco International (SFO). Long story.

I liked that airport tbh. That NBC store on the 2nd story arrivals exit had the best selections of magazines and random crap I saw in the 5 airports I visited in the US.

My favourite though, was Vegas. The instant I got off the plane, like literally 10 paces into the terminal there was slot machines and an
oxygen bar 👍

It's big too. It took 3 escalators, a 15 minute walk and a bus ride to get my bags and a rental car

I'm sure some of these have been posted before but they are still amazing and cool. More here > http://www.eso.org/public/images/archive/top100/

EDIT: Pakistan is still in a pretty atrocious mess. Not cool photos but they certainly grab your attention.

I would totally flip out if I was stuck with that many flies.... YIKES. My electric tennis racket/mosquito killer would get a lot of use there...

I hate flies, I can barely look at it. Pretty shocking that such a developed country can be in such a state.

What do 100 million hand painted fake sunflower seeds look like?

"Ai Weiwei, one of China’s leading Conceptual artists and an outspoken cultural and social commentator, has undertaken the eleventh commission in The Unilever Series.
Sunflower Seeds is made up of millions of small works, each apparently identical, but actually unique. However realistic they may seem, these life-sized sunflower seed husks are in fact intricately hand-crafted in porcelain. Each seed has been individually sculpted and painted by specialists working in small-scale workshops in the Chinese city of Jingdezhen. Far from being industrially produced, they are the effort of hundreds of skilled hands.

Poured into the interior of the Turbine Hall’s vast industrial space, the 100 million seeds form a seemingly infinite landscape. Sunflower Seeds is a sensory and immersive installation, which we can touch, walk on and listen to as the seeds shift under our feet. The casual act of walking on the work’s surface contrasts with the immense effort of production and the precious nature of the material. Porcelain is almost synonymous with China and, to make this work, Ai Weiwei has manipulated traditional methods of crafting what has historically been one of China’s most prized exports. Sunflower Seeds invites us to look more closely at the ‘Made in China’ phenomenon and the geo-politics of cultural and economic exchange today."

I wonder how many of the seeds will be taken, pocketed, and made a souvenir?
Simply wow.

for me, i wonder if the people who painted these pieces were paid and treated well (yes, i may be taking things a bit too seriously but i cannot help but think of the labour required to accomplish such a task).

^ Really? I don't think applying your grumble with stinky people to this photo is even close to being funny.

I know, it's terrible. The first photo was pretty cool though. Why is everything on fire?

Pakistan, like India and China have two very different worlds, the few wealthy cities and the ~90% rural population that live in abject poverty. That's not developed.

The point is not that Pakistan has got lots of flies, everywhere has flies especially in areas of poor sanitation!

Agreed that a great deal of Pakistan is poor rural areas but it's not a 3rd world country and they do have some infrastructure yet even with that they appear to have been unable to help the vast majority of people effected by the floods. Change my original comment to "a partially developed country" then ;)

I remember being in Mexico one time. I was on a horse ranch and there was a little outdoor bar for coca colas. It was so god damned hot that all the flies were dead on the tables. Flies are everywhere. Especially near animals, especially animals that poop.

It's important to remember Pakistan has no control over the North of the country. NWFP is insurgent controlled. I'd also say it's pretty damn close to a 3rd world county, as is India. When so much of your country is in poverty.

I wonder if some DDT would take care of it.

^ those oil paintings are amazing!

145 foot long slot car track Clearly a guy with way too much time on his hands but imagine how jealous your kids friends would be if you built this for them....actually I'm guessing this guy lives on his own...or with his mum!
