Also my first time jack-o-lantering. :D

I also did a triceratops for my other son but it's already outside so I'll have to take a picture later when it's all fired up.[/QUOTE]

As much as it pains me to say it you have out cooled and nerded me there mate, that's awesome 👍 Not bad at all for a first attempt. Where's the triceratops? :)

I just saw this thread highlighted with a new post from...me? WTH.... oh, I noticed the "."

Wow that .gif has really gotten around, it's been less then a day and I'm sick of it. It's not cool, amazing, or ever amusing (anymore).

The pumpkin carvings however, are nothing short of amazing.

How the heck did they get those pumpkins with so much flesh? The last pumpkin I carved was only thick enough to cut holes in.

^ 👍

This image of schooling catfish in Indonesia won the bronze medal in the macro category of the Our World Under Water 2010 photography competition...it deserves a funny caption but I can't think of anything!

Not to take anything away from that chap, but to me, climbing buildings is all about attention grabbing and not ability. Buildings tend to have repeated predictable hand and foot holds, and don't necessarily require much ability.. free climbing on proper rock faces is much more impressive in my opinion, I've done a fair amount of climbing in my time and one of the scariest things is when what you're holding on to starts disintegrating!

Technically i could climb that. But there is no way on earth I would unless i had a harness

I know this should be in another thread... but you mean something like this right?? I find this more amazing too :)

I hope this is not a photoshop... But he is crazy!!!

It's Alain Robert and he certainly does have great climbing ability. He free climbs those buildings (he's climbed most of the worlds tallest buildings and structures) Every climber climbs rock faces, he does something different. There's nothing unimpressive about free climbing a 1,230 ft vertical face whether it has repeated predictable features or not.

^^^ So thats his name... His face was familiar to me... just didnt know his name.

-edit: Impressive list of buildings he's scaled BTW

Indeed 👍

Plus, buildings can be more of a challenge than natural rocks and the like.

I mean, some buildings can be totally sheer with glass or whatever and the handholds available for them are totally small. His ability is to exploit every single handhold and footholds to the maximum for his body. And not fall down. That's the skill and ability of every successful climber, whether they do rock, mountain or buildings. While it may be sensationalistic for him to (il)legally climb buildings, the fact that he can easily and wilfully do it should be pretty impressive.

Where would we be if we didn't attempt challenges?

Not to mention that what handholds are available are generally polished in comparison to natural rock. Whether the modern building has a glass and steel facade or some sort of rock, the material has a finished surface totally unlike natural rock, besides an unweathered and unbroken granite face or something, but that doesn't typically occur in nature.
