Quite an enjoyable episode, China was the star of the episode, what an astonishing country.

The NIO is hugely impressive and we need that car in racing games.

I find that I'm enjoying the actual car segments and conversation street more than the "adventure" parts. My expectations for season 4 are a bit low.

The Nio being slower than the Senna again makes me question if McLaren uses voodoo tyres on their cars for the power lap. I mean the Nio ran up Goodwood hillclimb only fractionally slower than the bonkers VW ID.R! Similar suspicion to the Mac 675LT being top of the TG leaderboard and beating the likes of proper hypers such as Huayra and track day lightweights such as BAC Mono. I wish TGT still uses the old TG rule of times being invalid if the car has slicks or can't go over a speedhump, or at least mention it in the show. I know it's all about fun and not exact comparisons, but would still be a nice thing to do for the proper gearheads and doesn't take too much effort/time from the show.

I'd also contest that it makes more downforce than F1. More than GT3 cars, sure, but more than F1 and Red Bull will snap up their engineers in a flash to replace Adrian Newey

I'd imagine this is due to the restrictions placed on F1 cars more than anything. IIRC Indy Cars also produce more downforce than F1 cars.

I've heard LMP1 producing more downforce than F1, which is believable (covered wheels and wider floors). But I've never heard Indy producing more than F1, even in their road course aero package. If you look at laptimes they are several seconds off on the same tracks. Even taking into account they're heavier and lack hybrid assist they take corners much slower than F1.

I'd love to see hard numbers on downforce levels for all types of racecars though. Supercar brochures starts quoting numbers recently, but race cars are impossible to find. I know they change setups track to track and teams are highly secretive, but for older cars surely it's ok to share. Just like power and weight there should be a standardised measure for DF (e.g. kg at 200 kmh, total and F:R split).

For opposite reasons: the NIO was on slicks at GWFOS...

Having been there recently, though not to that particular city, I will say that their experience reminded me a lot of my own. Not that I put firecrackers on a car, but the episode kinda put me back there in a way I wasn't expecting.

I must also say that either those guys are getting some serious help, or they're really quite adventurous (or both). Because I would not have dreamed of trying to drive there. For one, the roads were quite chaotic. Lane lines might as well have no been there at all. And you'd randomly find people in the road. At one point I saw people jogging down the 2nd lane of a 5 lane highway, with cars going on both sides of them to get around. It might have been the only time I ever saw anyone jogging actually now that I think about it.

Also, just understanding the road system and the signs requires some doing. That's one of the amazing (and underrated) things about the show actually. They go to these places, and they get licenses and drive there.

I'm aware of that. But on equal tyres my feeling is the Nio should still have been quicker than the Senna. Almost twice the power and instant electric acceleration + gobs more downforce. Weight is an issue but I reckon overall physics would still favour Nio on the Eboladrome. For the Senna to be quicker than the Nio it probably has better semislicks while the Nio was on road tyres. Not that we can prove anything without further information anyways.

Loved the Scotland episode.

The show, with these three, has been slowly but steadily morphing over the years. They've been moving more and more from reviewing the latest hypercar that nobody can afford to finding pure driving experiences out of simple but wonderful cars. And I think it's resulting in just an excellent, energizing, and uplifting view of driving and cars in general. The show really resonates with me in a big way. I'm so glad they're still making these.

Watching the Scotland episode, and man I really want to drive those cars. Makes me want to go through the classifieds. Lambo SUV? Forget it. Give me the Alfa GTV6!

I enjoyed that episode, the Alfa GTV6 is a gorgeous car, definitely the nices looking of the three. This has been a really good series so far, some of the jokes are as forced as normal but it's all part of the package with these three.

^My first thought when that section showed up. I love that they're back to modifying crapcans and doing these silly demo derby races in the end. Feels more and more like classic TG.

BTW, is the stalker guy supposed to be The American getting revenge?

I enjoyed that episode, not that much really went on but there were some funny moments. I loved May's pub idea and the buggy's were a nice detour. I wasn't too keen on the Corvette, Cadillac and the SUV, none of those cars are really my cup of tea. I don't dislike Corvette's in gerneral, but I'm not a fan of that one.

BTW, is the stalker guy supposed to be The American getting revenge?
That's a good thought, I didn't think of that but it could well be .

Man, that was a fun episode to watch and I even got to hear James May scream "CLARKSON" again. I don't care if it's forced, I still laugh at that.
Of the 3, I think my favorite custom RV was James May's mobile pub; it looked so inviting. Shame that they had to wreck it at the end.

but yeah, this episode was giving me classic Top Gear vibes. Another highlight for me was the addition of the stalking stranger, I'm guessing is supposed to be The American. I originally thought he was Evel Knievel's ghost.

First thing that came to mind.

I think so, he was dressed almost exactly the same from what I recall of The American when he was on the show. That was my first guess anyway, it seems to fit.

I laughed out loud several times during the latest episode, I really enjoyed it. The line "Why is there a drawing of 3 stroke victims on the wall?" made me giggle until I had tears in my eyes at work

That episode hurt a little. I'm American, and I have aspirations of owning an RV to go touring the country in retirement. So I feel like this was aimed squarely at my apparently poorly-conceived notions of fun.

It was good food for thought though. There were moments in that episode, especially at red lake, where I was thinking "my god this show is epic". I mean, that's not CGI. That's not green screen. Those guys really did that... which is awesome and insane.

Don't worry about it. These guys poke fun at everything anyway. And I'm sure if you were to go RV touring you wouldn't buy a dilapidated motorhome and then modify it so it becomes even worse

Favorite part of the RV episode is after Clarkson says "back to the tent" ... they don't go back to the tent.

Love these old supercar segments. Though I hate that it always seems to rain during their power laps (like last season's XJ220 vs EB110) :grumpy: They're not gonna be fast, but at least it's not going to look like a joke laptime wise.

And for millennialls with too much time, here's May's full unboxing video
