Hammonds new show starts tonight, called Richard Hammonds Big and its a series where he takes a look at big engineering infrastructures and finds out how they work.

It starts quite fittingly with cars and he explores VW's giant car plant in Wolfsburg.

Its on Discovery at 9pm tonight.

... pretends to be interested in things, then looks directly into the camera for 1.75 seconds after finishing each portion of the script written for him by researchers.

So exactly like the old Brainiac series?

What's funny about Brainiac is that I watched it on BBC America way before I ever cared about cars, knew who Richard Hammond was, or even Top Gear.

I heard they'll be showing 2 specials a year, more or less every 6 months.....So expect it in June time.

And with the rumours, now that Clarkson has announced on his social media that he's off to Tanzania, that could be the destination for the "Xmas period" episode for late this/early next year.

It takes forever to edit these things.
I’m guessing early summer for Madagascar, Thanksgiving for Tanzania.

Jeremy Clarkson and The Grand Tour executive producer Andy Wilman hosted a live YouTube stream earlier this week where discussed how the pandemic has delayed the series’ forthcoming Madagascar Special and indefinitely postponed a jaunt to northern Russia.

Wilman explained that his own personal bout of covid-19 caused significant strain on the editing process for the Madagascar piece, which had been already been shot. Apparently, the thousand-plus hours of material the production team had captured on the island off of eastern Africa already takes weeks to even prepare for editing, and that having to work remotely has further complicated things.

Without studio segments to film, the Grand Tour team is busy putting edits in on the special and expect to deliver their final cut to Amazon within the month. After that, Wilman says that it’s up to Amazon to sign off and ultimately schedule the special’s premiere when it’s right for them. Eventually, though, it should arrive.

What won’t be coming for some time is the next special. Clarkson, Hammond, and May were planning to shoot another special in northern Russia in March and had to cancel due to the pandemic. That shoot will have to be pushed back until both the weather is right and the virus is under control.

We'll probably see the Madagascar special late next month.

Well good to know we might see another special this year, I still have to finish watching Season 3 of the Grand Tour and the last special so I guess i have time to catch up.

So.... what happened to that Sep. 4th release date for Madagascar?

Amazon has it, as far as we know. It's out of the producer's hands. So why the hold up and added delay? I personally forgot about the show at this point and by now, my expectations for the new special have risen even more.

The apparently botched the date. It's supposed to release at some point and I think Amazon is holding on to it since it will be a long while before we get any new Grand Tour after Madagascar due to COVID. My guess is we won't see it until around Thanksgiving or Xmas.

I mean lockdown is as good as any time to release something fans have been waiting for, for months. So their excuse for maximizing viewership is moot.

Unless they've put TGT on the backburner to focus on getting their other shows out quicker, like The Boys.
