I refuse to let this thread die a natural, non-old-car-enthusiast death, so have some oddities that have even less fans than old cars:
A few of those remind me of some of the early explorations in automotive aerodynamics. The Alfa Romeo Aerodinamica is probably one of the best-known:

I can't imagine what it would have been like to see a vehicle like that back in the early 1900s. Regular cars would have been incredible enough for many.

Love the steampunk vibe though.

I see your Alfa egg and raise you the Rumpler Tropfenwagen. Yes, that is a picture of the thing being tested in a wind tunnel, where it earned an incredible Cd of .28 or so... less than .30, I'm sure of that. Thing's from 1920 iirc.

Some of the early Paul Jaray designs were both amusingly ill-proportioned and well ahead of their time back in 1922/23. Most notably the Ley T6 (leading the trio):

Modern recreations like the Audi 1923 "Ugly Ducking" give you a more palpable idea of large these dinky-looking streamliners actually were:

This will be my 3rd time I think. One day I'll be there to race...

Welll, you're kinda right there lol, I'd find it odd if you didn't attend every year.

Racing there is a whole other thing, though. That would be awesome.

I actually live about 500 miles away from the track, so I don't go every year. Now that my mom lives up in that area, its a bit more justifiable. I need more track experience. Maybe one day.

Last time I went was 2011. Found these in an album.

It's nice just driving around Monterey/Carmel after the races.

Oh damn. That is indeed far away. I thought you were closer.

Even so, you're kinda there compared to me. I need to get my freaking visa sorted, lol.

Ah, I had seen these things but never knew what they were. Thanks a lot 👍
