Well before Race arrives and steals my lunch money, i should get my digs in :)

endless penalties at Old Trafford

It seems that if you look at a ManU player wrong in the penalty area, you concede a penalty.

I just cant understand why the FA does nothing to these refereeing mistakes. I mean they are so blatent and have such a huge effect on the title race, they shouldnt just be swept under the rug.

Found this at another forum, it's a pretty funny read.

Manchester United put on a a stunning display today in a behind-closed-doors rematch ordered by the FA after Tuesdays debacle at Old Trafford.

The Super Reds went ahead just before the kick-off when Giggs was sent away down the left wing.

His cross was handled on the half way line by a Spurs defender and a penalty was awarded for this cynical foul. Paul Scholes stepped up to slot the ball home for United's 33rd penalty of the season. It was no more than United deserved.

The 15th minute saw the Super-Smashing Reds go two up after Michael Carrick was penalised for coughing just outside the area. Christiano Ronaldo’s resultant free kick was slightly miss-hit, but even if the keeper was not being pinned to the floor by Roy Keane, he would not have saved it. 2-0. It was no more than United deserved.

The 21st minute saw more trouble for Spurs when Erik Edman was sent-off for enquiring about the referee's Man United shirt. However two minutes after the interval Spurs struck back after an amazing piece of good fortune. The referee's assistant could only parry Pedro Mendes’ shot and Robbie Keane thumped the ball home. Confusion reigned for 10 minutes as the entire Manchester United squad surrounded the referee, arguing that the referee's assistant had been fouled 15 minutes earlier. The referee grudgingly had to give the goal even though he racked his brain for a reason to disallow it.

Alex Ferguson was furious and rushed down from his seat in the stand to the dugout, knocking over a number of blind, disabled, pensioners in wheel-chairs on the way down. Fortunately, things settled down again as Paul Scholes took a long-range shot, which deflected off the corner flag but had clearly crossed the line, 3-1. It was no more than United deserved.

Just after the restart, un-sportsmanlike Nourredine Naybet was dismissed for making ridiculous claims for a penalty after Roy Keane had nearly decapitated Robbie Keane. The referee and his assistant missed the incident as they were both asking Ryan Giggs for his autograph, but replays showed that Keane's flying kung-fu kick, followed by a forearm smash was clearly unintentional.

Ten minutes later Ferguson took off Giggs and replaced him with Alan Smith, Eric Djemba Djemba and the suspended Wayne Rooney. Wonderful, wonderful Man United's 4th came shortly after. Robbie Keane was caught offside just outside the Spurs penalty area and Rooneys free-kick thundered in after deflecting off the underside of the flood lights. It was no more than United deserved.

The super, marvel, wonder Reds kept the pressure on until the bitter end. In the 98th minute Ledley King conceded a free kick just outside his own area for blatantly glancing at the referee. Ronaldo stepped up and proceeded to chip the ball right into the referee's path and he made no mistake from 10 yards. Goal number 5 and it was no more than United deserved.

Scholes slotted home number 6 from the penalty spot after Gardner went down with a broken leg. Fortunately Roy Keane was nearby when it happened and, after running 50 yards, he was able to bring the incident to the referee's attention. Unfazed by Gardner’s cynical tactics, protruding bone and spraying blood, the referee sent him off for diving (and time wasting) and awarded United the penalty. Scholes cheekily chipped the ball over the keeper and the crossbar, but the referee decided that it was a goal, because based on past records, Scholes rarely missed.

When the final whistle went after 33 minutes of injury time, Spurs traipsed off with their heads low, having been taught a footballing lesson by what is by far the greatest team the World has ever seen. As the losers hit the showers, a superb flowing movement by United culminated with a fine diving header by Alex Ferguson
and it was 7-1. However the referee decided that it was such a good goal, it should count double.

8-1 then - and it was no more than United deserved.

So now Inter are showing interest in Giggs. Whats wrong with Fergus? I mean just offer Giggs a longer contract and be done with it - he is a great player.

Exactly, imo he is the greatest player from the British isles in a long time and for all he's done for Man U he deserves a longer contract. I mean even at 31 he is still rampant down the left wing.

Ps, whats happening with Edu's and Laurens new contracts. Although to be honest I don't think you need Edu anymore I dunno about Lauren though, hasn't hoyte been playing in his position recently?

Giggs is one of the greatest players in the Premierships history - and one of the good guys in the league i.e. no diving or cynical fouls. Crickey, as he is only 31, give him a 3 year contract.

Edu i think wants to goto Spain, which means even fewer midfielders in the team. Lauren was going to renew his contract as far as i have heard. We need his experience.

I think Edu realises that he will be 3rd or 4th choice, once everybody is fit.

Thats a good one.

Yeah Hoyte has been playing in that position for a few games, but we dont really need Edu, whether he stays or leaves Arsenal is uneffected, but it would be nice to have his morale.

Edu has more impact on the game than Gilberto, Gilberto always seems kinda anonymous. Although I suppose it's because he is probably outshined by Vieira.

Aresenal need to rid themselves of the like of Edu and Lauren. In the long run they need world class players such as Henry, Bergkamp, Viera, Campbell etc to win the Champion's league.

BTW barcelona might be interested in Freddy Kanoute as Larson is injured. WTF is that all about??

I've always thought Lauren was one of the best Right backs in the Premiership and plus he's also a good penalty taker. As for Kanoute, well I mean Barca were linked with Anelka a while back as well I doubt they will buy him though, at the moment they only play with one actual striker, with all their creative midfielders chpping in.

Arsenal complete Eboue signing

Eboue played in a pre-season game for the Gunners
Arsenal have completed a deal for Ivory Coast international defender Emmanuel Eboue, who has joined from Belgian club Beveren for a reported £1.5m fee.
The 21-year-old agreed the move in November, and has now signed a five-year contract at Highbury.

"He's a multi-functional player. He normally plays centre-back, but he can play right-back or midfield," Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said last year.

Eboue had been with Beveren, who act as a feeder club for Arsenal, since 2002.

"In the summer he took part in some of Arsenal's preparatory matches and made quite an impression on Wenger," said a statement on Beveren's website.

"Arsenal had already tried to buy Hatem Trabelsi from Ajax, but the transfer had never been completed, so they decided to buy Eboue," it added.

In moving to Highbury Eboue will join compatriot Kolo Toure

I don't think they were too concerned about the FA cup. What kind of team did they field? I'm quite sure there were no 1st team players on the pitch today.

Manchester United are a very random team, one minute they are beating arsenal, next they lose to portsmouth and draw at Exeter. Very random indeed.

West Ham better get promoted this season, because if they don't.... *shakes fist like Homer*

Damn stoke for not beating Arsenal!

Ps did anyone see the Newcastle v Yedding game?

Yedding didn't do too badly for a team that's 6 divisions below them.

Stoke City nearly beat us. They were up 1 nil against us, but ma man reyes pulled 2 back :sly:

2 one to the gunners final result.

Yeh, in the first half Yedding could've been easily mistaken for the Premiership side at first. Fair play to Yedding - they did themselves very proud indeed 👍

demon of speed
It's like Pardew said in the Metro today. That the quality of football outside the Premiership is better that what people think.

👍 Definetely, there are a lot of other great teams out there.
