Nope. You couldn't have been in the Cup Winners Cup and Champions League. Just like you can't be in the UEFA Cup.

Isn't the cup winners cup the old UEFA cup? I forget, but I know that we won the Cup Winners cup during the 90's.

Yup.

There was a the Cup Winners Cup (aka Uefa Cup) and the European Cup (aka Champions League).

You couldnt be in both in the same year. Three thumbs up for anyone who remembers the Intertoto Cup.

Nope. The UEFA and Champions League were still there, but there was another Competition for the winners of the Countries domestic cup e.g. FA Cup. Now the winners of the FA Cup just go to UEFA.

The Intertoto cup was going up until quite recently. Was it invitation only or something?

I'm gonna get a battering from Mike for this but......

Anyone wanna join my forum? DQuaN's World

Yup, in the FA Cup.

Why can I not see a Chelski fixture this weekend? Is it because they are playing tonight?

*Edit* doh! They play the brummies on Sunday

Lets hope Arsenal walk all over Wolves.

Ok, the top league in England is the Premier League or Premiership. It consists of 20 teams and they each play eachother twice in a season (Aug- April) once home, once away. 0 points for a loss, 1pt for a draw and 3pts for a win. The top team at the end of the season are crowned champions. There are also two domestic knockout competitions during the season. The Carling Cup (or whoever else sponsors it) and the FA (Football Association) Cup. These are knockout competitions and involve the teams from the lower leagues as well.

Then we have the European Competitions. The top four teams from the Premship, La Liga (Spanish League) Serie A (Italian League) and all the other leagues in Europe, go to the Champions League. This is the cream of the crop, the best teams in the world, the most prestigious club competition in the world. Then we have the UEFA Cup (United European Football Associations) here teams that finished 5th-8th in their domestic league, compete in a not so prestigious cup.

Hope that clears a few things up. :)👍

P.S

"Beano editor Euan Kerr admitted the character - who was French, wore a red football shirt, had a shaven head and was called Henry Thierry - bore "certain similarities" to the Arsenal star.

Well you know how a league works don't you?

There are different divisions, with the Premier League being the top one.

Premier League = Top division
Championship = used to be called the 1st division
League 1 = Used to be called the 2nd division
League 2 = Used to be called 3rd division
Conference (I think)

At the end of the season, if you are one of the last three teams at the bottom of the league you go down to the lower league. Also if you are in the top 2 (I think it's 2) of one of the lower divisions you get promoted to the next league, the three (might be four I forget) positions behind that then all play eachother in playoffs to be the third team to be promoted.

Err, more later.

That clears quite a lot up actually.

The knockout leagues - they're played at the same time as the Premiership?

Yup, the knockout leagues and European competitions are all played during the season.

FA and Carling cup are begun in the first quarter of the league season and the final of the FA occurs after the last Premiership fixture 👍

Okay, I know what the deal with Man United is now. About how they're uber rich and how they're the most supported team in the league(s).

I'm not just another fanboy, I'd still support Man if they were relegated.

(And I'm working on finding out the names of the players too, Dunc. :P)

They aren't having much luck with injurys. I bet Morientes is scared to play incase he gets injured.

And Norwich Want Bellamy, ha like he's going to go to a club that's more than likely not going to be in the Prem next season.
