I'm gonna hold off pre-ordering until next month. I've spent enough money already on necessities. Then in August I'll pre-order Motorsport.

Just pre ordered the ultimate edition
15$ for this?

Not really sure about Gold, assuming that only two exclusive cars are Chevelle and Charger and other 23, most likely, will be available via in-game currency

How original
Do we really need another cheese storyline or what? Festival setting is ideal for game with open world and lack of police. Also, its big part of the Crew franchise(aka Summit). Playlists is a simple word to describe grouping of activities. It was used by NFS, FHorizon and perfectly executed by Motorfest.

The Crew dont need more originality, its already have enough unique features. The Crew need polish and content.

His point being, Horizon has kind of done this exact thing already, like, there doesn't even appear to be a new twist, just copy and paste. Add in the fact that people were/are getting bored of that formula for the past couple Horizon games and I can't really understand why they haven't tried to do something new with it.

Do what? Open world with festival setting? Its not Horizon invention. Playlists? Same.

Is there planes and boats in Horizon? Bikes? Maybe analog of Summit? Or 32 players races? Progression?

Like what?
I don't even know how you can defend it, they just copied Forza Horizon in almost every aspect, yeah Horizon was inspired by other things, but this is a copy paste job.

And you say like what, well, The Crew 1 and 2 managed to keep the formula fresh by offering something a little bit different, yeah they weren't perfect, but honing what, in particular the 2nd game had, would have been far better than just giving up and copying the competition, which itself has been criticised for not offering much new game to game since FH3. They haven't even managed to do an original location, open world driving game in O'ahu? Completed it, twice.

The Crew 2 could already be considered a clone of Forza Horizon but the Forza Playlists is not something that Forza invented and Ubisoft has copied but it was the other way around, Playground copied the format of the TC1 and TC2 Summit.

And the Motorfest Playlists have nothing to do with that, the Motorfest Playlists are basically Gran Turismo-like championships (or a bit like NFS Pro Street race days) of various events where you race (or drive) with vehicles of a specific theme and they are releasing information about that to you.

I've never played (or even seen gameplay of) the earlier Crew games. My most recent open world arcade racer was FH5 and, from the opening sequence switching between different vehicles as an intro to the festival, it was an incredible sense of deja vu. The map, the avatar, the characters, the icons & challenges. The actual events in this did seem to be much more themed than Forza, but other than that it felt like a clone.

I don't know which came first, who is copying from whom. I'm okay with what the game is, I want a Forza Horison experience on PS5.

And yet, they call it Playlists, not championships.

TDU was PS2 game, level design standards slightly different nowadays. Its like blaming NFS for releasing Rivals because California already was inspiration for Hot Pursuit.
The Crew 2 could already be considered a clone of Forza Horizon
Which is nonsense, considering release dates of Horizon and Crew games. And that Ivory Tower lead devs were part of Eden games original dev team.

Any news about an open beta? Didn’t manage to get into the closed beta
another closed beta 21st to 23rd July - this one will have no restrictions on sharing/recording/streaming :)

saw some speculation about an open one in August, nearer release, but no confirmation

Well maybe because they are just a list of events about something that you can play? :odd:

I didn't know that Forza had invented playlists...

@inCloud I know, but I'm surprised that now everyone is doing this with Motorfest when they should be doing it with TC2 five years ago, I guess since TC2 was a less mature and polished game they generally didn't take it into account.

And obviously Forza Horizon didn't invent anything, TDU and NFS PS already had some of the features of that series and served as a pretty obvious inspiration for the first Horizon game.

But why? Its two different games in one sub genre, maybe even in different subgenres considering Horizon simcade nature. All systems in those two working differently, only similarity is festival setting.

the game looks pretty good.

Maybe take some Forza H5 things but with better progression and more intense and chaotic feeling

Considering how Ubisoft games depreciate over time (about 50% within a year of release, up to 90% (!) afterwards) it is very hard for me to resist the urge to preorder now. I will probably keep playing TC2 until is exhausted and then jump to Motorfest, vehicle collection in hand.

This game looks like it will be a lot of fun and potentially more entertaining than Forza Horizon. I liked The Crew 2 quite a lot even though I only played it for a few weeks so I'm really looking forward to this. From what I can gather this game has the right amount of character, colour and polish to provide a fun experience.
