As a new player, I'm thinking there's no point doing much grinding at first, because you have limited legend points and can't do anything to get more of them till a new week starts?

I don't need better parts to get platinum in the summit, and while I'd like better parts, if I wait till I have 100 legend points to max out rich, legend, goldfinger and lucky, every minute of grinding will give me more than it will now. Or am I missing something?

You can get Platinum without matching sets. Gran races use green parts for everyone. You basically don't have to grind at all. Unless you are after leaderboards. And if you really want to grind for parts one advice. In Motorfest only max parts can be gold. So any pink part is good enough for lucky/goldfinger. Icon points matter but not as much as it was in TC2.

Ok, I'm a bit late to the party here, but need a bit of guidance. I can't see a way to use any of my 150 cars (mostly transferred from The Crew 2), on any race in the game. Every Playlists seems to consist of races in which you use "loaned" cars. I suppose I can use one of my own cars as a sort of a taxi to get me to each race location, but that's it.

So at what point does this game let you choose your own vehicles for a race?

The 919 Street is such a lovely car to drive. And it's gorgeous too. Love it.❤️

I bought it as well, I haven't taken a picture of it yet but I'm gonna upload a YouTube short of it next week.

Meanwhile, I have a playlist of my "The Crew Motorfest" content right here:

I've been doing some grinding for parts, I've got a gold loot set for hypercar, which in turn has got me a gold points set. I'm one part short of a nitro chemist set :(

One thing to add to what you said, though - I'm finding it's very very tough to get the gold parts to get started. Pink parts with goldfinger and lucky are all you can do to get started, plus legend points on lucky, but the key thing is that gold parts let you have much higher percentages, e.g. lucky can be 25.5% with a gold part vs 15% for a pink part. This makes a huge difference to getting gold parts, you pretty much need to max out lucky each time you get a gold part, as even with every part gold with maxed out lucky you still don't get THAT many gold parts.

I got 62nd on one leaderboard with my current gold parts, looking forward to when I have a nitro chemist set to be able to compete better, but then there's the legend points as well, which are very slow to get. Even with the gold loot set it's pretty slow to get that last nitro chemist part as it's a 1 in 42 chance each gold part, and it actually takes quite a long time to get 42 gold parts.

One thing I've found is that event difficulty doesn't seem to affect the quality of parts you get, so you can do races on the lowest difficulty and all you're losing is a bit of XP, but it's much easier to get past the AIs early on.

Does someone know what IVT is planning for October? The hall of fame's stars are almost all claimed (1 left for September, then all taken) but there seems to be another month of content before the second island is added.

I expected to end up on the lower end (within platinum) in the curent summit due to more competition because of the platinum car.
Seems like the interest is not that big actually.
A lot depends on how good you are at driving games. It's fairly easy for me to get platinum, but I played TC2 with a friend for a while, and even after helping him get all the parts sets, he still couldn't get platinum.

The game is telling me nearly 130k people are on the summit leaderboard, so that's quite a lot of people who have taken part to some extent. I'm 2300th right now with 1230k, but scrolling down to 3000th place, the score is still 1220k. 4000th is 1208k. That seems fairly competitive to me, with just 12k score drop for 1000 places on the leaderboard.

I am currently in 12000+ place without guides, tunes and after few tries for every event. Nitro sets on st2 and hc, everything else is just epic/gold. 9000+ should be doable for me with some preparation.

I've been grinding a lot today. I recorded some YouTUbe shorts that are going to be uploaded in the coming weeks while I was at it.

here's one I uploaded today which showcases the Abarth 124 Spider:

What do you guys think of my driving in this car?

also, I'm gonna be uploading a lot more and will be doing gameplay of the new Yearly Pass cars when they come out as well.

That's where I'm currently are too, just above 2000th. And that's pretty much how I end up most of the time in the summits. But I was expecting to be way lower due to a lot more people trying harder this time because of the platinum car.

Does Ubisoft/IVT plan to add a Track Creator to TC:M at some point? That would give the game a nice boost in replayability.

The 4 to 6 minute event aren't really long IMO but that's just my opinion.

I brought the Crew 2 as it was cheap as chips and then thought Motorfest is on special lets get that. And I have to say graphically and sound wise TCM is a big step up. Its nice and bright and colorful whereas the TC2 felt a it dreary. It is an older game after all. It has Forza Horizon vibes but it feels like its own thing. I've just started with the Hawaiian Scenic Tour but I don't mind the playlists. They all have a theme of their own and feel like fun. I'm looking forward to finding the time to explore the game fully.

Seeing how late they added the Race Creator to TC2, I'm going to guess it won't come to Motorfest for another year or two.

I think what will probably happen is that the people around that level won't try any harder, because they don't need to. People who normally finish 8000th, for example, might find they have to work harder to still get platinum, because people who normally finish 12000th will try to get into the top 10k, so I think it will compress everyone's scores in more like the 6000th-14000th region. Someone around that level probably couldn't beat your score even if they spent an hour on each event.

It was mentioned in an interview that's on the official discord:
"The Crew 2 just received the very requested Track Editor/Race Creator. Could we see that added to the Motorfest?
Julien: So one thing the people, the players have to know. It's not because it happened in one game(The Crew 2), that it will happen in The Crew Motorfest. Clearly we have teams working on both games. And it's not because of the feature, Motorfest is built like from skratch, so the feature is not appearing automatically. I would love to, my life would be so easy, if feature existing on one side could come to the other side."

I feel TCM goes a bit TOO far with the exaggerated vividness, but it's definitely a massively better looking game than TC2, the lighting and reflections stand out to me as much better. Many of the playlists are really good, with a lot of variety, but I did one recently that felt a bit FM-style plain race after plain race, think it was the Liberty Walk one. One tip - if a car can be bought in both TC2 and TCM, it's better to buy it in TC2 because:
1) It's massively quicker to earn credits in TC2. If you spend 15 mins a day doing High Speed Takedown you'll quickly have a lot of credits.
2) The same car is cheaper in TC2 than TCM. I don't know if this is 100% universally true, but for the cars I've looked at, they have all been significantly cheaper in TC2.
3) The sync only works one way, so if you buy a car in TC2 you get it in TCM as well, but not the other way round.

Can you sync only once or can you do as often as you'd like?

It syncs every time you run TCM. Most of the time I've been able to run up TC2, buy a car I want, close it down, immediately run up TCM, and the car is there, but one time it wasn't there until I closed down TCM and ran it up again. I've started waiting a bit of time before running up TCM and haven't had the problem again.
