So I just got banned for a livery and now all the liveries are locked. That means the car I just finished yesterday is not an option anymore for the KTM custom show.
On the bright side I'm one of the few that has an all black GT4.

It sucks... at least I can still play the game.. T.T

Got the prices. Left my phone on the charger while streaming on 166p feed and lowest possible screen brightness while doing other things.

Had to switch streams at some point but managed in the end.
I use my old iPad almost exclusively to have these annoying Twitch drops streams running in the background (mainly Diablo 4 and The Crew 2, but basically any game I own and i’m aware there are twitch drops).

What are your guys' impression of the game now? How's the control?

Graphics and car audio are great but when I played the demo after release, I thought the control was terrible. Couldn't tweak it to my liking. Cars felt lazy and unresponsive.

Controls are understeer biased to begin with, I go with this set up really makes a difference:
Steering custom - linearity 0, deadzone 10, highest 0

Its worth another look, the new island and chase squad updates are excellent, graphics have been given a boost on the pro at high frame rates. I cant stop playing it myself good times!

I find the opposite, if anything the cars feel over-responsive compared to FH, and I'd say the much less direct response of FH5 is more like a real car where there's all sorts of slack in the connection between steering wheel and the road, due to tyre flex and suspension components. But the ultra rapid response of the Crew games is more exciting, even if unrealistic. If you find it unresponsive, you can try the direct mode, which is insanely responsive. For me, direct mode is just impossible unless this was the only game I played, as there's no way I can switch back and forth between direct mode and another game with filtered inputs.

I must say Ubi support is pretty good. They responded with an automated mail, but then it took a minute to get a staff member. Short story I will get all my liveries and decals back. But I still need to spend 4 more days in jail.
The funny thing is after the livery was gone I was still getting likes and now I'm in 2nd place in Custom show. 🤣

It didn't change except for the Direct Mode. It's hard core... I can't drive in that mode.

Direct mode? Can you explain what that is or how it changes the game?

Apparently, direct mode, as I've just found out, is something they released much later. So not sure if that improves the game or not. Can you post a video maybe of Direct Mode gameplay? I use pad only.

Well, I have Series X so likely the visual boost is only for you. I will give these settings a go if I ever get the game. Thanks!

It makes the stick directly control the car's wheels, so you have to use the stick like you'd use a steering wheel. However much you move the stick is how much the wheels move. The reason I can't use it is I'm used to counter-steering by fully flicking the stick in the opposite direction, but with direct mode that's too much countersteer. If TCM were the only game I played that involves controlling a car, I'd develop a new instinct for how to countersteer, but I don't want to stop playing other games, so I can't use direct mode.

Bought it, painted it, like it.

Now just waiting for the BP Skyline to appear.

If anyone has that, can I paint it normally, or do I need to wrap it if I want to change the color?
If I recall you can change its colour and livery, and interestingly enough it's 2 base colours can be used on other vehicles (the paint will show up in the 'recent tab' so this is the only way to get a close-to-legit midnight purple pearl lol

Good to know its paintable, not interested of the purple color. Either black or green, maybe white, will do.

I wonder if they add next batch of buyable stuff in december once the summits refresh.

It removes all the steering filters so the car turn it's wheels faster. Watch this video, it explains everything.

Thank you very much for sharing that video! Looks like Direct Mode is for people like me. I gave up on the game after how terribly lazy the cars felt in the demo. Appears they listened to player feedback.

I think I will pick this game up. Would you say the physics are less arcadey than Horizon or more?

In my opinion, it's a well-balanced hybrid of FH and NFS.

So basically, it has a certain degree of Simcade "ness", but at the same time, many of the cars are basically strong oversteer, and you can drive them like the B2D physics of NFS.

For example, here's a screenshot of me driving a drift build Mustang, which can consistently drift at speeds close to 200km/h, just like in NFS.

Of course, this can be corrected to some extent with the pad control settings and car pro settings, but I really like the exhilaration of this physics.

I'd say more arcadey than Horizon. If I want to just chill and drive about the open world and feel like I'm experiencing the cars, then FH5 is the better game for that. TCM is more varied and feels more exciting. For how similar the games are on the surface, there are a vast number of differences.

Standard version of the game is £21 on PS5 in the Black Friday sale. Think I’m going to grab it.
Don't judge it too harshly too quickly when you try it. Like many similar games, it does need some time investment to get into it, e.g. doing 10 playlists to unlock fast travel is a bit of a chore, with some of them good fun but others a bit dull. And the summit can be a bit variable, I haven't enjoyed it all that much the last couple of weeks, but previous weeks had some events I enjoyed a lot.

It also takes a bit of time to get used to the mechanics. A few of the most important tips:
  • Most visual changes to cars don't affect performance, but an exception is you should always move the wheels as wide as possible. Many cars have front and/or rear fender options that can make the wheels farther apart.
  • The tyre affects performance, not via the compound but because some tyres move the wheels farther apart. I'm not sure which of the standard tyres makes the wheels widest apart, but you can look at it when choosing a tyre.
  • The nitro boost is most powerful at the top of the tank, so you want to mostly use it near the top and be refilling the top part rather than keep using it at the bottom.
  • Some of the legend points can be very impactful, e.g. air nitro, but it will take time playing the game to accumulate legend points. Each new season, you get legend points for the previous season based on the XP level you reached.
  • If TC2 is also on sale and you don't already have it, IMO it's well worth picking that up cheap, as you can earn credits in TC2, buy cars in TC2, and the cars will transfer to TCM. There are also cars in TC2 that aren't available in TCM any other way. While the graphics are a bit dated, it's still in many ways a great game, a bit like FH4 vs FH5. Many TC2 events and the environment still have a character and charm of their own.
  • Check out the TCM Meta section in the official Discord for the best vehicles of each type and the best parts affixes. This guy puts out a video for the summit each week where he gives a lot of good tips and you can see the vehicles, parts, and pro settings he uses:

TC2 is still £40 digitally but it is in the PS Plus Extra catalogue - I'll take a look. Thanks.

Motorfest year 1 pass is also on sale (£10) so I may as well add that to the basket.

I wouldn't pay a lot for it, as it's no longer getting any new content, though old summits are still repeating, so old rewards can be obtained. It was on sale for under £1 not that long ago, and I'd guess it might be similarly cheap again some time.

I bought TC2 and its season pass for just 3 Canadian dollars a couple of months ago. On PSN.

Bought it. Did play the pre-release beta so I have some experience already of the game (I seem to recall really disliking the boats). Should look nice on my new TV as well (coming tomorrow), a pity there's no 120fps mode.

I notice that Grand Races on Maui have collisions disabled while racing on Oahu have them enabled. Another thing done right by Ivory. The only problem is that the Grand Races runs on one island at a time.
Hope they keep it that way because while I appreciate running ghosted I also like actual racing too.

And I'm so happy my livery ban is gone.. Although it still came at a cost.
First: All my decals have been deleted, but all my liveries are available so I can get those decals back, still quite annoying.
Second: Rivals and Chase cars all have their liveries removed and there's no way to put them back on right now. But then there are cars with liveries locked that I don't mind having their livery gone. Like the Fiesta WRC.

Wait, I didn't know much about Motorfest's ban system, so instead of losing all liveries, all local decals are eliminated?

What the heck!

I'm afraid of being banned for prank reporting, so I don't plan on sharing UGC in any way until they fix the reporting system, which means I'm in a relatively safe situation, but I think I'll need to create at least one "sticker vault" livery just in case.
