The Crew: Wild Run Edition

What leads me to believing it's story driven, was a clue that Stephen 'Fergus' Beley, Game director at Ivory tower gave, he was wearing a T-shirt last spring that said "The story has just Begun". I don't think that was by accident either. If you think about it, the border crossing for mexico is already in the game. I guess we'll see on Thursday.
 
I remember they did something like that for E3, and nothing was shown.
So until there is actual evidence I don't expect anything.

So it's some speculation that the crew will be at gamescom. Somebody on the crew forum's posted a link to a ign article that i guess showed a list of games that's gonna be at that event. And it said "the crew expansion". I hope this is true. Maybe show the expansion or whatever off at gamescom and then release it around October or November i guess. Anyway let the speculation begin:D More customization options please. Like the option to paint your rims.

In January I filled out a survey from Ivory Tower, perhaps the most interesting question of all was below. In Lieu of the Expansion coming soon and being formerly announced on Thursday, I thought I would repost this to show the possible directions this could go.

One interesting question from the Ubisoft survey about a hypothetical expansion or sequel....




"Imagine that a new expansion for The Crew was released. Which of the following settings would you like to play the most?"

1.Oceana

2. Europe

3. Remain in the USA with new gameplay features and or New cities

4. Africa

5. South America

6. Asia

7. Expand territory in North America (e.g. Canada, Mexico)

I almost said Europe right off the bat because that would be awesome. Oceana would be great too mainly because Oahu was great in TDU. They could also do the big island too since it hasn't been done before, but if we are talking about expanding the current game then I thought # 7 made the most sense; besides, there are sections of Canada that I would love to free roam in.

I said North America because to me it made the most sense keeping the game on one continent:

But if it's Hawaii or Alaska, then we would probably just use the airports to travel there.

Exactly, I would love to see Canada more than anything else (more snowy mountains please) but Mexico would be awesome for off-roading/ Baja racing too. Even if they just add more cities and territory to the existing map, that would be ok too.
 
Just saw a gameplay video of the expansion, and it gives me a NFS Rivals/Hot Pursuit vibe... in a very bad way. The weapons that both the racers and cops have are just NFS levels of ridiculousness. A flashbang in a cop pursuit?

I know I have to go easy on it, since it is in development, but here are some irritating things I found.
  • The back on track feature literally sets you next to the getaway driver, like 5 feet behind him/her AND going at the same speed as him/her. Might as well not try to drive, just hold the B / circle button and you're ready to go.
  • The arresting is also very awkward. You can arrest the suspect by driving alongside him when he's going at 150 mph. I guess it will be too hard to just box the suspect in...
Aside from these specific horrible cons, you can now level up to level 60 and increase your car level.

I guess I'm one of those people who don't like change.

I guess the only thing a lot of people would hate is people just driving around as cops and annoying others.
Also I wonder if it can all be done solo?

Also don't like how you have one siren and the others have multiple ones while it can change from car you can't change it yourself like NFS HP 2012 did. :grumpy:
Overall I think they finally listened to some requests.

@The Stig Farmer The Koegg is already in game as a perf. I believe.

Also I wonder if you are in free drive, can you use the sirens. :/
Now only if it would work in like GTA where they (Kinda) get out of the way instead of like merging into you. :lol:
 
I just crunched the numbers on what'll be the new max level for tuned cars and if we go by the video that each level 60 part yields a 18 point increase at minimum, times by 11 is 198 which would give us a new theoretical maximum car level of 1497. :)

Reports are saying only 1399 for max level after update/dlc/whatever it is.

Edit: Here is the breakdown on what was announced.

From a gameplay perspective in free drive, I can see how this will add more value to the game but as an "expansion", this is not what I expected. Seems more like a DLC pack to me rather than a true expansion. I will hold off on judging it until I hear more tomorrow though, hopefully that's not all there is to it.


Edit, sucks that trailer video was taken down before I could watch it....

Like everyone else is saying, i dont understand why they are calling this an expansion. Looks like regular DLC to me. How many months has it been since we had a big update? Like 4 or 5 months? It's gonna be really disappointing if they spend all that time making this and that is all that's gonna be in this so called "Expansion".

Changed a few things.
Broke a few things.
Just thinking that if they call every DLC an expansion maybe they get more money.
 
I was kind of hoping this update brings car sound updates such as for the RX-7 and 458 so they can sound more like... an RX-7 and 458.
 
I think online is still a bit messed up. I can't use my BMW Dirt spec vehicle for the time trial specifically for BMW Dirt spec vehicles.
