This is why I went with minimal aero.

i understand, youre right
i mean that the standar gt4 cars have aero parts in real life

All my "Gr4s" are weight reduced to the max and then given some tuning parts before they are power restricted and ballasted to about 635-640pp. They compete well with actual Gr4 cars at this level until the pitstops come into question. I'm thinking of detuning the real Gr4s down 15pp so that their performance is more equal over the long run in endurance races.

Here's a livery I created today for my Tuscan Speed6 Gr4 :)

Used the Z for the he WTC at LeMans. Lovely car, but the fuel economy sucks...big time. It's to so much pull, I pluck it in 6th, even with Fuel at 5-6 and watch the times drop to the leaders. Really good cruiser.

Ran it without the front splitter and rear downforce at max 230. Handles nicely. Still, wish fuel economy wouldn't take a hit when we build these cars.

The focus RS have good balance between power and fuel economy. You can do 3 laps in 30 mins of lemans with fm6 and automatic transmission and 4 laps with short shifts with a 280kmh speed in straight

this is quite disappointing
Even with 5pp more than its rivals, the car is slower.
It doesn't matter if I use the full 8 speed gearbox, or set it to use only 5 or 6, it doesn't matter if I use anti lag, it's about 1sec slower in trial mountaion or dragon trail.
Anyway the car feels good and it's fun for sure

One of may favourite Custom GR4 cars, and one of the fastest
It has one of the best driving experiences, it's fun to drive, very stable, very fast, and it's also the cheapest ferrari!
It is faster than the 458 GR4

Well, at first it was a nightmare to drive this. turn the wheel a bit when you're going fast and the car will try to kill you, but update 1.13 fixed this.
Now, although the rear end is quite happy, it stays close to the ground, even in fast corners, and it is very enjoyable, and best of all, very fast!

I feel the slower, the more ”realistic” it is as a PD Gr.4 creation. Every build shouldn’t be an AI killer. That’s the way it is with the Gr.4 category. Not everyone is going to choose the Alfa 4C for every race. It may seem disappointing, but it’s actually bang on for the category. I feel, anyway. At the least, it keeps things competitive, instead of dominating.

I used a stock Mustang Gr.4 for the WTC Le Mans and I didn’t finish P1. Wasn’t the fastest on the straight and fuel usage was lack lustre. I‘m fine if all my builds are like that.

My latest gr4 creations

This is a beast. At first, looks like is slow, but when you look at the lap times, is not, Is very fast even with the low power

Excellent initiative, and following the example and using a few posted tunes as a template, I want to show you my new toy; one of my favorites cars since I was a kid:

A little nervous, wants to oversteer all the time, but easy to control

Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4 has 430hp, 535Nm and is 1410kg heavy... this is real life GT4 car...

Like the idea, in some of the previous GT games there was an option to convert car to racing model, can't recall what game was this in, but it was neat feature, GT7 could simply have this...

Out of curiosity, I copied the Camaro ZL1 tune into a Corvette ZR1 C4, but with a stage 1 weight reduction only, and what fun the car is!! A lot of potential!! Can someone work a little magic on this car?

Bought me an ex-Kroymans racing C6 GT4 John Deere livery sponsorship was removed, but car needs a freshen up. Going to see how it goes in the Le Mans 30 min. These are the specs http://www.corvettemotorsport.com/files/GT4_Specsheet_June08.pdf
One article recommends this particular car was set to 437 BHP. I’ve got it at 436 BHP.

Finally puting the old 350Z and 370Z GT4 cars to the test as well. I did use the 350 at a PP 550 event at Spa. Smooth like butter. Sounds awesome.
20829888514548748.jpg

Edit: C6 GT4 finished 2.876s behind the P1 C7 Gr.4. Fuel 6 gets me 3.2 Laps. Top speed just below 300km/h, with no tow. Very fast. 436BHP/1400kg. Solid performer. Removed the rear spoiler, but standard downforce f/r is still 80/80. Excellent road holding.

It's not the fuel economy but the size of the gas tank. The tech regs I found for 2020 FIA GT4 catagory has them sporting 17.5 gallons (66.2 liters) of gas.

A typical street car sports a 12-16 gallon tank in the US. That could be a loss of 5-30% of your gas between a true GT4 and a self-created GT4.

Pickups like the Ford F-150 should have a 26 Gallon tank. I would assume the Tundra is similar. That's probably the most fuel for a non-race car.

Yeah, this is why I think "Endurance Fuel Tank" should be an upgrade for road cars and professionally tuned cars.

However, there's a risk nobody would use the race cars anymore, because usually the road cars are faster. In sprint racing with no fuel consumption the road cars will always win as some of them can be 2 or 3 seconds faster per lap than a Gr.3 car.

Hmmm. Are the fuel rates the same regarding fuel maps? If I keep it at Fuel 1 with the road car, it burns much faster than a Gr.4 car at fuel 1. Or is that just because of the aforementioned fuel tank size?

Just as an example. The C6 ZR1 was at 2.2Laps at the start. Dropped to 1.7 with me nailing it down the first straight. I dialled it back to F4 after the first chicane. Dialled it to F6 for the remainder of the lap and it stayed steady at 2.2 until dropping to 2.1 at the end of Lap 1.
In the Alfa, I feather the throttle and immediately see a gaine of an extra lap of fuel to the tune of 3.4 Laps and I can stretch it to 4 laps before the end of lap 1. No fuel map adjustment. Plus, the Alfa has a higher rpm range, lighter weight and much more downforce. Same with the GT300 Supra and Skyline. Those I can stretch to 4 laps without map adjustment.

Ill do a quick race right now and see how much the C6 can hold, by backing off for the first lap.

Edit: Okay. I just start the race, don’t touch the throttle, select 6th gear and coast to a halt.

C6 got the furthest with bad engine braking.

Alfa didn’t make it up the hill.

Skyline had a high of 8.9 Laps and dropped to 8.8 and then 8.7! right after the first Dunlop tyre.

I know members do extensive testing with fuel numbers, fuel tanks, economy, etc. I’ve not looked into all that, but it is odd to see these results by backing off right at the start. If the race cars have bigger fuel tanks, how can the road car hold more fuel? That’s why I asked about the fuel delivery. A road car should be more frugal. Yes?

Was gonna turn a project I had in mind into a Mustang GT convert to Gr4, but the GT has more HP than a Gr 4 car. I mean I guess I could just throw weight reduction, wing and air dam, and power restrictor but that just feels lame.

I guess it's better to start with something in the 250 or less range so you can play around with it.

I made a Gr.4 Mustang GT, used the stock Gr.4 car as a reference, only mine's 100 pounds heavier with 9 more HP, both with a 2 PP of difference between both (stock Gr.4 is 635, mine's 637) and tried to recreate a livery from a local racer who competes in the IMSA GS class. I hace to admit this initiative of making our own's Gr.4 cars is what is keeping this game alive for me.

The real GT4 car and my attempt to recreate it:

Hey, that's what racing leagues do in general. I'd say go for it.

Since this thread is up, I thought I'd post a legitimate GT4 / Gr4 car I'm running around LeMans, currently at 699PP to give me a good chance of a fast victory. I need credits of course. When I want to enjoy the race I'll bring it to where I've detuned it to proper Gr4 levels as in my setting sheet. This is the current livery, next to a GT3 sibling with deep blue paint. They could stand to be a little more different, but this will do for now.

Here are the setting sheets.
