Recommended Garage - I'm chock full of ideas lately When I first went online with GT5, I figured using the Recommended Garage would get a lot of use...until I discovered how limited the car selection was. I'm not tech savvy, but given that 16 people can bring a 1000 car garage online, I think it should be rather simple to have every car in the game available online in the Recommended Garage. I'm also thinking that if they did a better job of utilizing the RG online it would attract more players to "Spec" racing online. Here's kind of what I'm thinking:
- have a separate class of room, like a Shuffle room, that is just for RG racing with the entire GT6 lineup on tap. Of course once the room is setup that way it cannot be changed, so anyone looking for RG racing knows when they enter that lobby that's what they'll get and the next host won't change it.
- give the host the option to use multiple cars in case they want have a multi-class race, along with the option of equating their PP. and the option to choose any car from a particular class or series. DTM, GT500 etc., and within that series, the option to equate specs or PP.
- give the host the option of allowing some limited tuning, for example, 6 speed close ratio, sports suspension, exhaust etc. but it applies to everyone in every car.
If you're not a regular online racer, do you think this would encourage you to go online more often? Do you think this would be popular? Do you think this idea is full of crap?
Dedicated Lobbies - Exorcet reminded me of this with a post in this thread. I think having dedicated lobbies in GT6 is a good idea. Lobbies with a set theme that cannot be changed such as:
Recommended Garage Only
Street Cars 500PP Only
GT500 Only
Nurburgring Only
No Aids (no ABS either) etc.
I think it would help especially encourage newcomers and casual racers and even many hardcore gamers to come online because you don't have to slog through hundreds of lobbies to find what you are looking for, these lobbies will always be there. If one is empty you can grab it and host, or join a room with people in it already. Hosts would have a limited number of options. Some rooms could be preset as "Stock Tires Only" or "ABS Only" or with PP ranges. I really think the idea of knowing you can always hop online and quickly find a room that will likely have good crowds and is simple, with no tuning required, would be attractive to a large segment of the GT6 crowd. Do you?
NOTE: Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I'm in no way suggesting that you can't go ahead and open a lobby of your own just like you do now. This would be an addition to the Open Lobby system.
