I was on a bit of a photo kick yesterday, so I took some more shots of my C63. These are from GVS (duh) during one of the the replays from Gargoyle's "Sidewayz Saturday". I was desperately trying to catch up to the86d in his Camaro and rsgriff in his CSL...If you've ever drifted with either of those two, you'll know that this is a nearly impossible task haha.

If you like really torquey cars, and haven't tried the C63 yes, DO IT...it's baws

Off to a good start! If I can offer a couple pieces of advice:

1. When you are just starting out taking action shots in GT5, use panning mode 3, combined with a shutter speed of 125 or lower. This setting combo adds a sense of speed to your shots, as it will cause the road and background to be "blurry", but the car will be in forcus. If you are shooting a single car, use a shutter speed of 60...for multipile cars in the same shot, 125 helps bring them all into focus, while maintaining a sense of speed.

It is totally possible to take great action shots with panning modes 1 and 2, but I think it takes some experience and familiarity with the GT5 camera to execute properly. I've been taking photos for about 4 months now, and am just starting to figure out panning mode 1.

2. Be mindful of your exposure value. I find the GT5 camera tends to over expose photos (meaning that they are too bright).

The technique I use to figure out the proper exposure is to find the brightest (usually the whitest) object that is in the shot, and turn down the exposure value until I can see the detail of that specific object.

The sky is also a good reference to use in controlling your exposure. I tend to turn down the exposure until I can at least see the outline of the clouds. If the sky is just solid, blinding white, or if it looks sort of like the clouds are glowing bright white and you can't really see the blue, you probably have your exposure too high.

I find a lower exposure value tends to make the smoke a little more realistic as well.

Very nice shots! Welcome to the drift gallery. If you like photos of drift cars, check out the "show your drift car" thread in the drift forums. Also, check out some of the organized drift meets in the "teams and meets" section, as guys are always doing replays for photos.
