Since the Japanese version will have almost as twice as many cars. I wonder if Japan has to pay some money to download it. But I guess its going to be free since they pay already the same money as we did.

It has already been said that there will be no charge IF they decide to add downlodable content to Prologue.
But you never know

I got a mail today from SCEE's press office. It states that the EU release will have the same content as the US release. So the answer is: Yes! the EU version will be equal to the Us version.
The new feutures (drift mode, splitscreen mode, tuning, more races) are listed as EU exclusive, so it looks like the JP version wont get a update :S

I wonder if US players will be able to race EU players online, just a little warning for those thinking of importing the EU game.

I don't see why we won't be able to race against each other.
If I remember from the interview with KY he spoke about GT being a Global community (or words to that effect).

Plus as you know it's possible to play people from different countries in other games. So i would think that GTP would be the same .

I wonder how did you get that email response...
But anyway, if this is the case then can you ask them why the car list in the EU release is different (has less cars) than the US release ?

Looks the same as the US list if you ask me.

I've just looked at the car list for the US and europe from the SCEE press releases and the official site US and I can't see a difference in car lists. Can someone give me a link where it shows the US is getting more cars or tuned cars.

If its true that there is more in the US version, I'll be importing that to the UK, so PD if your reading this, count that as a euro sale and perhaps many more, if there are no updates planned soon for EU.

I think i'm gonna order mine GT5p in a few days at RENCHI (also got my japanese GT5p there). Because no way i'm missing out on the Amemiya RX7 and Tuned RX7 spirit R.

But i'm gonna wait a few days first to be shore that the EU version has 5 cars less.

Do you see the 5 cars now.

EU list

US list

Do you see the 5 cars now.

I do on the list from PS3fanboy.com http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/03/06/gran-turismo-5-prologue-gains-two-player-split-screen-new-featu/

but the official lists do not list peugeots and has less Mazda's.
http://www.us.playstation.com/GranTurismo/products_carlist_pro.asp
http://www.us.playstation.com/News/PressReleases/459

Anyway I'm not trying to argue, I'll just wait and see which list or site gets updated in the next few weeks. If the US version does have more and there are no plans to add the cars through updates, I'll buy the US version.

I`ve decided one thing, I am tired of speculations, I have the JP version, I will buy the EU bluray version, and if the Us version have +5 cars i will download US version. Problem solved.....:crazy:

I couldnt agree more 👍

Has everyone missed a problem?
What problem I hear you cry, weeeeeeeell This may settled the speculation, or make it more heated LOL
Lets first look at an example, going back to the 360 (steady on) when a car pack was made available where you could buy additional car a problem arose, if your playing online and you hadn't bought the additional cars and players in the race had the new cars how could you see them? Not having downloaded the new cars there was no way of displaying them on the screens of players without them. So what they did after different approaches (more on these in a second) is that everyone got an update, in this update were the new cars, you couldn't use them unless you payed for them of course but everyone physically had them.
So this raises the question for a few people, JPN version owners especially! If the online section is going to run globally and not regionally (Lets hope not) Then EVERY version will need ALL the cars to work! Now sure the cars could be but onto all versions and just certain ones be locked for certain regions, but this makes absolutely no sense! Even if you have to pay for additional cars to be "unlocked" this would be ok but I doubt PD would do this for fear of alienating there home market!
Anyway a quick look at the alternatives which other games when faced with this problem tried unsuccessfully, 2 main ones spring to mind, 1 was the simple system of people without certain downloadable content wern't able to play in rooms where the new content was being used, this was soon dropped as it quickly split the gaming communities into have and have nots and people soon got annoyed and moved on to other games. The 2nd system was to have a "generic" car which everyone had, so instead of people without exclusive content not being able to see cars they don't have they see the "generic" car in it's place. This last system works but took away the show off appeal of people wanting to show "new" cars in online races so less people bothered buying them (Yeah we are that shallow LOL)
So PD and Sony are not stupid and have the advantage off seeing how people got around this problem in the past, and I'm sure all versions will eventually have ALL the cars within a space of time, Lets just hope the system is in place before the EU and US versions are released so the JPN guys out there don't experience restrictions online!
