I thought the Speed 12 was part of he cerbera line-up, my mistake.
Only in name, I do understand why people arn't too keen on it, I love it ad can get someserious laps out of my ones.

Fade to Black
Well, as I posted MANY pages back, after extensive testing, the fastest (in terms of top end speed on the test circuit, fully modded and tuned for speed, using NOS at maximum HP setting) turns out to be none of the above... it is in fact the Lotus Esprite 350 (aka the ?!!$§¿¶¡ng fast silver one)
i appreciate you doing all that testing and all , i certainly recall an 'esprite'

Thw fastest top speed is debatable becasue settings can be changed and bugs can be exploited. I can get my Speed 12 faster than you got your Esprit. The 12 is also very quick to 60 if you have the control needed, if not then don't bother. As a result it can be devating or frustrating, it's one of thoes cars.

As for the Escudo accelerating, you answered part of it when you talked about the Speed 12, yet you say the reduced Bhp isa - in the Escudo. 1800Bhp Escudo's lag like **** and wheel spin worse than any car in any GT game yet. 1000Bhp Escudo's don't off the line if you take car with the wheelspin which isn't too bad with the race tyres and 4wd.

Debatable perhaps, but I feel you missed the point of my posting, (and the topic) so I'll explain it more simply. This is about the fastest road cars AS TUNED IN THE GAME. No cheats. Sure we could all gameshark our Subaru 360's to do 20,000MPH, but that's kind of defeating the purpose of the game (even if it'd be fun to try :D)

And I note you said "CAN" get my speed 12 faster, not HAVE. When you try, you'll find what I found... that it literally "hits a wall" where, even running with nos still left, it won't go any faster. That speed's been posted elsewhere on these pages. and believe me, I tried all kinds of things to get more speed out of that car! Ride height, suspension, tyres, gearing, and downforce, both with auto and manual gearing, and with all traction aids both on, and off. I WANTED it to be the fastest... it just... isn't. :(

To date, the Esprite is the ONLY car not to hit that wall whilst still NOSing (is there such a word, if not, I just invented me one :D) in fact, it was still accelerating when the NOS ran out... (if only I'd had an infinite NOS cheat... I'd love to see what it eventually topped out at before it too hit the "can't go faster" wall!)

As for the escudo... well the acceleration increase in GT4 is actually quite small... my old escudo was about... 1/10th of a second slower than the F1, in GT3, 0-400. Wheelspin? Only on rallies, when the TC is turned off. Set it up with supersoft race tyres, stick the TC on as low as you can without whelspin (can't recall what setting offhand, it's been a while since I played GT3!) and let her rip... what a car for test circuiting... I got that beast up to about 494kph in GT3 - without cheats!

Speaking of fast road cars, am I right in thinking the Buick Special is a road car? (Leave this one in the capable hands of the experts again! :)) Because if it is, I think it's the fastest olde-US-iron... I've had that wonderful machine running at about... 269MPH.. not incredible I know, but pretty fine stuff from a 50 year old car! :)

I hope that cleared things up... but probably not

The Buick Special is a one-off custom-tuner, the "Bu'Wicked"... look it up, neat car. Fully rebuilt, custom frame, modified motor. It does count as a road car, though, doesn't it?

When I said I can get my speed 12 faster I meant by changing the settings like you did, not by cheating. I don't have any devices to allow for that, but I know I can get it faster because I have got it faster.

For the Speed 12, try putting it in 5th gear the entire acceleration process, no wheel spin, but it utilizes most of the power :)

I got my Supra RZ'97 up to 300 mph or 480km/h. the exact speed was 480.19km/h, which is not bad for an oversized rwd corolla! :D there's picture to prove it at the settings forum.

Sorry but I just had to bring this back.

There has been a new thread posted about the NSX LM Road Car and all of the pics and info in that thread were included in this thread at various points.

Also, beyond that, I've recently started playing GT more and among the great cars I've been running are the Saleen S7 and the Zonda C12s 7.3.

Both of those cars are great on sports or racing tires, and in stock form they might match up well with N tires.

They deserve a strong mention in the "fastest road car" thread for sure. 👍

Edit:
The Amuse S2000 GT1 is a strong contender as well.
After recent racing on the Ring with that monster I was convinced it may be the fastest road car on S tires.
530hp (roughly) and S3 tires: 6'38.??? clean (with time to spare)

Ok. For sure the fastest roadcar in the game is, fully tuned, the Mitsubishi 3000GT at 318mph, and the second is the Lotus Esprit 350 at 316. Other fast cars (300+ mph) are the Supra RZ, 300ZX, Zonda C12S 7.3, Honda NSX-R LM roadcar, TVR Speed 12, R390 Roadcar, Viper SRT10, VW Nardo, Cadillac Cien and TommyKaira ZZII.
Cars tried, but that CAN NOT reach 300 are, as far as I know, Saleen S7, Ford GT, Skyline R34 models, Jag XJ220, and a whole bunch of others. All this tested and confirmed at this site, the 300 mph leaderboard, and all cars apply to the rules stated here. Ie, no wheelies allowed!

This is of course just straightline speed. Around a track? No idea yet, as I ahven´t yet driven all cars in GT4. But I´m on my way!

This is of course just straightline speed. Around a track? No idea

And this is the one point that means the most to me.

Fastest in a straight line means very, very little to me.

My interest is the fastest car around a track like the Ring or Grand Valley or Trial Mtn or Apricot Hill or Anything! :sly:
Just not the test track.

The Saleen S7 and Ford GT are perfect examples of why track speed is more important than top speed. 👍

Ignoring lap times for the moment (since I just don't have any on hand to deal with), I am betting that both the Saleen and Ford are capable of better Ring times than the 300mph Mitsubishi 3000GT.
(btw, who else is bummed they didn't include the 3000GT LM/ GTO LM?)

Also, I wonder what a fastest car list would look like with "semi-stock" cars. :mischievous:

Stock engines ( with oil change).
Semi-race suspension (since "original" suspensions aren't availible for all cars).
S3 tires (since high-grip tires will exaggerate the understeer/ oversteer tendencies) (plus, S3 or S2 is closer to what you would actually use in the game).

Take that setup and test... 💡
Ford GT
Saleen S7
Zonda C12s 7.3
VW Nardo
Caddy CIEN
Ford RS200
Chevy Z06
Viper GTS & SRT10
Shelby Cobra
Amuse GT1 & Carbon R
MINE's R34
NISMO R-Tune and Z-tune
Tommy K ZZ2
Nissan R390GT1 & R34 Skyline?
NSX LM Road
Supra RZ?
Yellowbird, BTR, RGT
Audi Le Mans Quattro & Nuvolari
M3 GTR & CSL & M5
Merc SLR
Lotus MS Elise & Esprit
Jag XJ220
Aston DB9
TVR 12, both "6"s
Caterham 7

That's about it...
Also,
It would be a good idea to test in both full mod & stock form.
In fact, if I could do it anyway, I would do it with the NSR approach I've played with...

Test each car in stock and full mod forms.
In stock test with N3 & S3
In full mod test with S3 & R3

👍
That's a huge deal so let me know if anyone decides to take it on... In the mean time I may start doing it myself. :mischievous:
(not sure about that though  )

I hear what you´re saying, and I agree to the fact that a lap around a circuit is more fun (and more valid) than just top speed. I will do these cars, but not yet. I´m currently testing all cars in the game, and mostly on N2. More highend cars(ex. Vipers, Vette Z06, NSX) get N3, and the cars I deem as true supercars (ex. Ford GT, XJ220, Saleen S7, Audi LeMans Q, Nissan R390 roadcar) get S1. Currently on Fiat...
I don´t intend to tune them though, as I want all cars tested as the come. Well, a chassis refresh and an oilchange if needed.
I have another GT4 save though, where I do modify alot of cars, and the Viper SRT-10 made a 6min flat around the ring , fully tuned on R5. Stock on N3 it did just under 8min. I do write my results down in .xls, and as soon as I´m done (in 6 months or so...) I intend to publish it on GTplanet.

The rules I made up for this are as stated above, plus Rallycars get S1 (I firmly belive in treaded tyres for rallycars) and all racecars get R1. I use six tracks to determin an overall handling/speed of the car, and these tracks are:
Nürburgring (the ultimate testcourse)
Le Mans I (classic ground with extreme speed)
Fuji ´05 (modern track, just for that)
Suzuka (technical track)
Monaco (citycircuit)
Midfield normal (very good as a preference)

Got anything to add? wishes?

I'd definetly have to say that the Toyota Supra RZ '97 is one of the best road cars when tuned correctly, it has great acceleration and can get to 235mph w/o NOS, and w/ NOS can EASILY reach speeds of up to 250mph

You're driving sucks ass, the Speed 12 can do sub 7 min laps of the Ring stock. It's one seriousely fast machine, if you can't get it to go fast thats you're problem, not the cars because plenty of people CAN drive it fast.
Try driving a Speed Twelve in the sub 7's on the Ring for real my friend.👍

It all depends if your talking stock or not, if your talking stock then it's the TVR Cerbera Speed 12, it would be the Honda NSX-R LM road car, but that car doesn't really exist so it's not a real road car. The ZZ-II is road legal and is real so yes it should count, but stock, it's not as fast as the Speed 12. When you start allowing tuned cars all of a sudden the question becomes pretty much unanswerable since setup will play as large a part as the actual car.

Yeah, the Speed 12 is not for everyone, some people love it (like me) but it frustrates other's. Round the Ring I can run a faster time in the Speed 12 than in a ZZ-II, but when you tune them, the ZZ-II is faster than the 12, but then other cars are faster than the ZZ-II, I've had a fully tuned R390 road car running faster than a fully tuned ZZ-II, but then settings come into play, I'm not the best at setting up a car, someone else might get more out of a fully tuned ZZ-II than I can.

Well, honestly I use to hate the Speed12,well cause Im not a big TVR fan{exept the v8's}.But after I won one I tried it out it was actualy a very nice car,I tried tuning it aout a bit and made it into a pretty good car overal.Im now saving up now to get it in black, and I love how the side veiw looks like a viper with the very long nose.still I think the v8's is better though:).

Try using a fully tuned against LMP and GT1 cars, it can win but it doesn't have the downforce for the corners that the LMP and GT1 cars have.

Generally speaking, the R390GT1 Road Car is the fastest road car in the game.

Only a handful of cars can match the potential of the R390GT1 and most are not capable of beating the R390 in the end.

Of course, most of my knowledge is based on the Ring, so at a track like Motorland it is possible that other cars are faster (like 800hp skyline with 4wd).

However, I don't think the ZZ-II is faster than the R390 on most courses.

As of right now I feel like the best way to evaluate the fastest car in GT4 is to look at things in categories.
Best FF, FR, MR, 4WD, RR.
Maybe include some categories based on overall HP as well as the PWR.

With any free time this weekend I may actually put together an organized list or something. :dopey:

ive done some testing on tsukba of all my Japanese road cars, fastest ive found is the r34gtr nur spec, got around in 1:50.98 or simular, probably one of the quicker and realisticly possible for me to drive one day, road cars...

Edit: :ouch: :ouch: my time was 51.98, dont know what happened there, a 1.50 around tskuba would have to be pretttyyy fuggn ****e:dunce: ...

SUROKIA
the fastest road car has to be the speed 12 or the ford gt or something

 read back. We discussed the Speed 12 a hundred or so posts back in this thread. As I remember, it was a very long discussion.

The Ford GT is middle of the road for road-going mid-engined supercars. Near the top for road-going mid-engines are the NSX Concept (500hp) and the Zonda... with the R390 coming into contention when tuning is brought into play.

been playing the game for a while and noticed that a few "fast cars" are ; tuned 88c, audi r8 and the r292cp and if tined properly will all exceed 300 mph (with nos:grumpy: )
