Lets get a Finals thread going since they start tomarrow.

I think the Pistons will win in 6 and yes I'm a huge Pistons fan, but if I thought the were going to lose I would say it. I seriously thought they weren't going to beat Miami but since they did I think they got what it takes to win.

The Spurs defense is terriable, but they do have better offense then the Pistons do. But they won't be able to get through the Pistons defense. Just my predictions lets here yours.

:odd: The Spurs and Pistons are the two best defensive teams in the league. I'd say the Spurs are a better defending team than the Pistons.

As for the series, I don't really like either team, but I'll say Spurs in 7. I do think the series will go the distance, and I expect a lot of tight, low scoring games. I really think the Pistons will have a tougher time scoring than the Spurs will. You'll have two All NBA defenders with Bowen and Duncan covering the two best scorers for Detroit in Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace, and Parker covering Chauncey Billups who I'd have to also give the advantage to there.

The Pistons proved everyone wrong last year, including me, so who knows what'll happen. :dopey:

What a boring series, IMO; exactly because they're both defense-oriented teams.

Only reason Miami lost, besides injuries, was our inexperience. Shaq's the only one that has even been in that kind of situation, a game 7. Almost all of the Pistons, on the other hand, have seen a game 7. We'll get to the Finals next year with the scars of the Pistons series. :)

Now do you believe us, Blazin? Both teams really did play good defense. I was little bit nervous about the officiating letting the game get bit too physical, but that worked out really well for the Spurs.

As I've said in the Spurs thread(Saleen Man did, also), Pistons and Spurs are top defensive teams. Difference is that Spurs can also score(a lot). Pistons are really streaky offensively, and it almost cost them a series against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conf. Finals. Well, they aren't playing the Heat anymore. Unless Pistons get their offense straightened out, they will not be able to extend the series to game seven(or six, IMO) against the Spurs.

Goooooo Spurs! :) 👍 Ginobili - Parker - Duncan

P.S. It was nice to see "Big Dog" for few minutes. :D

I must say I was impressed with the Spurs last night, although a week off really helped them I think. There are still many more games, and yes I will say that I was wrong about the defense of the Spurs. I'm not afraid to say it when I am wrong.

Man the Pistons are so inconsistent. How did they ever win the 2004 title?
Yeah. It's like they go to sleep for a quater, sometimes two, offensively. Pistons players are intelligent, the head coach is brilliant. I don't know what the deal is. Perhaps, they should be going to Rash"weed" Wallace 👎 more? If he actually did his job, posting up offensively, that could give Spurs defense some problems. Pistons actually did that in the first few minutes of the game 1. Not many people know this, but Rasheed is one of the best low-post scorers in the league, just below the likes of Duncan and Shaq.

I found an interesting bit on the post game of NBA Finals game 1:

ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE:@ The NBA's media office had podiums and microphones set up Saturday in each of the four corners of the SBC Center court.

When it was Detroit's mandatory turn to talk with reporters, Billups went to one corner, Tayshaun Prince to another and Antonio McDyess to a third. The fourth podium was assigned to Rasheed Wallace.

But like often occurred in Game 1, Wallace (six points, all in the first quarter) didn't make it to his spot on the floor.

Oh, he got close. He sat in a chair a few feet away from a large group of journalists waiting for him and played with a handheld Playstation II video game(PSP?).

He did speak to a Boston radio reporter who was apparently an old friend, but everyone else was completely ignored.

"They're just going to ask the same (expletive) questions they ask all the time," Wallace was overheard saying to his pal. "I been answering those questions all season."

After about 20 minutes, Wallace got up and walked back toward the Detroit locker room. A league media crew then unhooked the microphone and carted off the podium and blue backdrop with the NBA logo.

Neither Billups, Prince nor McDyess followed Wallace's example — they each remained in their corner and fielded questions that they too had likely been answering all season.

This is why I hate Rash"weed" Wallace. He is a slacker, on and off the court. He was notorious in Portland for completely ignoring reporters. When he was a Blazer, the Blazers organization even had to fine him to force him into answering reporter's questions in interviews. It didn't work.

This guy has enough talent to be as good as Kevin Garnett, if not better. Instead, he is a "role" player. Pretty expensive one. 👎

You are right he is really good when he wants to be, and now is the time for him to be good. But I don't think players should have to answer reporters questions if they don't want to.

Rasheed is good, but there's no way he'll ever be as good as KG. He could be a very good player, no doubt about it, but his attitude will always hold him back.

I too don't understand why the Pistons didn't run more isolation for Rasheed against Duncan, he proved he can score on him in the first quarter. Even Duncan admits that he is tough to cover, because he can just shoot over the top of him. We'll see what happens in Game 2 I guess.

Actually, I should've said that "he had enough talent". He's getting old now. As a Blazer fan(not you Blazin), I've seen Rasheed play in hundreds of games. Many of them against KG, Webber, Duncan, Malone and other elite PFs. 'Sheed was actually a better scorer than KG, and might even been a better defender. Only problem was, he worked only when he felt like it. If 'Sheed was actually driven to win, he'd be in a same class as Duncan and Garnett. I've always said Rasheed was the most talented Blazer, ever. Better than Clyde Drexler. Did he accomplish things, accordingly? no. Will he ever? nope. Rash"weed" Wallace is a slacker.

If the Pistons don't win tonight I'm going to give up hope on them.
I predicted that Spurs will win the first three out of four, but I've got a bad feeling about tonight. Also, I wouldn't worry too much, even if the Pistons lose the first two games. Pistons are (for the 100th time) extremely streaky. They've also proven, that they can comeback in the series, before. :)

True they are streaky but I still think if they lose tonight the Spurs will win it in 6.

Daaaaamn. San Antonio is too good. It's true that Detroit is playing lousy and inconsistent, but man!.

Tonight, Pistons offense finally started to show....... and disappeared again in the 4th. It was kind of weird to see Spurs defense fall apart for bit in the 3rd quarter. It was the first time I've seen it happen since the Phoenix series.

Larry Brown is one of the greatest coach in the NBA history, but it was kind of pitiful to see him trying to get kicked out in the 4th quarter. I just loved how Crawford(referee) wouldn't bail him out.

This San Antonio team must be one of the best NBA teams, ever. :) 👍

Edit:

It looks pretty bad for Detroit right now, but they still have a chance to protect their homecourt. I still think the Spurs will take it in 5, or 6 games, but game 3 could change everything. Let's stay tuned!

No way, man...
I've seen many NBA Champions. 04/05 San Anton Spurs are one of the most intimidating teams, I've ever seen. How they can kill you inside, outside while making super quick & accurate passes are just amazing. Each San Anton players knows exactily where to position themselves, offensively and defensively. Oh, they can defend post and perimeter, damn near flawlessly as well. As a Blazer fan, I'm shakin' in my boots! :scared: Lastly, their basketball I.Q. is extremely high. Detroit Pistons are usually pretty smart, out on the court, but the Spurs are making Pistons look like total dumba**es out there.

The Pistons problem? They have no heart. I'm ashamed to be a Pistons fan right now, they don't even care if they win.

They're definitely good, for sure, but just not the best. The 80s were the time of basketball greats. Sixers, Lakers, Celtics...

🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬

*calms down* All I can say is, fire the back up point guard! He 🤬 sucks!!

:) Anyways, where was I? Oh, yeah! Props to Billups. He's definitely one of the best guards in the NBA. I learned that in the last year's Finals. Detroit was dominating in this game, and they sure made the Spurs look vulnerable tonight. I still think it's going to be Spurs in 5 or 6 though. Go Spurs!

I never said that they were. 80's team you've listed were great, but San Antonio is right there, IMO.

Look at it this way. People will actually notice NBA Lockout! :P

VIPFREAK
my ass they did. 10 mill for a damn coach?
What's this? Is that how much Phil Jackson got or something?

There are few coaches that can turn that team around right now. Phil Jackson is on that short list. If Phil Jackson can turn around the Lakers into a playoff team, isn't that worth 10 lousy million dollars? It's the Lakers, they've got plenty of money. :)

P.S. Sorry, I'm on the wrong thread!

Did anybody watch this one? This one was decided, early in the second quarter. To be honest, I stopped watching it at half. :( So much for my guesstimate of Spurs in 5 or 6. 👎

Spurs has choked in the big series before, like against the Lakers last year, and Piston has a tendency to comeback in a tough series, so maybe I should've seen it coming. I just can't believe where Tony Parker and Ginobili has gone. In last game and a half, they have totally disappeared! And with those two guys doing absolutely nothing, Detroit defense's just collapsing on Duncan inside. :grumpy:

Hopefully, Blazin likes his team again. They are kicking some serious "behind" now. :)

It's fun watching retards try to put a ball in the hoop. :dopey: My mom is getting really really irritating because if we aren't forced to watch it at dinner I can hear her through my wall. :grumpy:

VF: You have the coolest mom in the world. :) 👍

So, ummmm, is she available or what? Do you have a picture of her? :sly:
