Miku without twintails is blasphemy.

Says you. I for one think with or without twin tails is fine by me.

Indeed i always liked her with long hair even though her normal look is still great.
Like earlier when i mentioned the Haruhi movie and the long haired Haruhi

You should see Miku without the twin tails , but its hard to find pics of her with just straight hair.

Always more than one way to like your favourite characters.

Thank you for reiterating exactly what I said.

BTW Attack on Titan watchers, be an Attack on Titan reader. So much stuff is already revealed that's likely going to take another month's time to reveal in the anime.

Isn't that pretty much how it always is?

It sort of is, but this is new experience for me and choosing to read ahead on the manga feels great because you don't have to let the show slow you down. There's so much dialogue for you to go through you won't finish it anytime soon.

Also, it was a filler post. Sort of.. :P

Does Tron: Uprising count as anime? If so, I'm a fan.

Plus it has lots of hot girls in it.

Anime is used often as an umbrella term these days so it can be classified as anime regardless of origin or style. Some shows however may borrow the styles of anime and thus may be dubbed as anime-influenced rather than strictly anime. Since Tron: Uprising originally came from America & that it doesn't really seem to borrow a lot from anime in Japan, I wouldn't really classify the show as just anime. You are welcome to identify the show as anime but it could throw off some who relate it as having styles/design like Naruto or Fullmetal Alchemist.

Also, hot girls can't really justify something as anime (though a plethora of them fall to it anyway :P).

If it isn't Japanese, it isn't anime, it's a cartoon.

I'll probably sound like a philistine here, but, to me, anything animated is a cartoon. Anime is a subset of cartoons.

Anyone is interest in this new anime?

I'm looking forward to watch this anime.

Last I heard, it's one of those "ideas" KyoAni has or animation demos that never make it to becoming a show. Did you hear somewhere that it was going to become one?

Free! will airing this summer season.

Right, but I see a bit of people classifying cartoons - even ones that are meant to be so - with anime. I'm not arguing against you guys, as I actually forgot to consider cartoons as an option.

Question:

Do you guys watch anime subbed or dubbed?

I watch Always sub anime. The J- voice acting is usually better and for me the Japanese language is more beautifull than english. Plus I don't need to wait months, or years.

Nah Andy, I like being surprised by this show.

Allow me to also throw in there that the pacing of the show is about as bad as Dragon Ball Z. Every time a new episode starts up, there's about 7 minute of recap from the previous and half an episode covers less than one chapter now.

Can you still say you want to be surprised?

I see. I watched mostly dubbed in the past because on tv, there isn't an option to change the audio for some animes. But I was watching one online just now, in English + subtitles and the consistency was awful. :scared: So I went and switched it to Japanese + subtitles instead. Sometimes it gets hard keeping up with what's going on and reading the subtitles.

Dubbed. I only watch it subbed if that is the only version and I'm desperate to watch it. That actually reminded me about something. Last week, the Carolina Theater was showing some Studio Ghibli movies, so of course I would be interested. I went to their site and I saw that they were only showing the subbed versions. I endded up not going to any of them because of that.

Admittedly, I follow Winry's logic of watching subbed anime. I tried it once or twice on one show that looked like it may be acted well in English but for some reason, it didn't keep a flow in subbed versions.

I don't mind reading the subtitles. My eyes are pretty shifty anyways so I can keep up with what's going on. But from time to time I miss a lines of dialogue.

Subbed, partly because I'm a bit pretentious and want to watch the original version, but mainly because most dubs are awful. I'm not criticising all dubs, Disney generally do a decent job with the Studio Ghibli films, but most dubs seem to serve little purpose for me beyond YouTube Poop.

That said, I may not be the best judge of the quality of a dub, I do tend to find American accents a bit grating, and my brain finds it weird to watch people who are supposed to be Japanese, living in Japan, talking about Japanese things, not speaking Japanese.

I also tend to prefer watching films in languages I don't speak with subtitles, so it extends beyond anime.

That is precisely why I lean towards subs even if dubs are available.

Dubs are almost like an art trend in that dubs were appropriate and fitting with older series or films whereas contemporary anime doesn't fit in. It's partially due to the fact I grew up with dubs before being reintroduced to anime with subs some many years later.

I usually watch the dubbed version before but in DB series, I sometimes watch some subbed version, due to some only exclusive in Japan.

BTW, in the dubbed versions of DB series, the FUNimation dub and the Ocean dub are both different in terms of voice actors/ actresses and their dialogues also differ, too.
