Kancolle may be really cool (at least to me) if it wasn't girls with ship parts attached to them, but rather just the girls themselves with super powers closely related to their ships' artillery.

I hella like this song. But I dunno, it seems polarizing to me.

Lol, not you, silly. Some years ago I used to post a daily song with weekly themes and stuff.

I mean, of course you can post whatever the hell you like, I was talking about bringing that back.

And I could not make it one mintue into your song, it sucks, lol. Sorry.

I know lol
I haven't even been here for a year I don't think.
But hey, songs are cool.

Anyway, Wake Up Girls has absolutely terrible animation and the same-face syndrome that everybody talks about really does show in the production. But the story and character interaction make up for it. If you're a stickler for good production values or happy-go-lucky idol shows like Idolmaster I would advise you to stay away.

Perhaps it's just a metaphor for the animation studio that made it (desperate for money and a share in the industry :P)

Even Nibutani has her share of it. 3:07 is what I'm all about. :D

I may or may not have just found this in the recommended videos after watching @AOS-'s video.

Oh Yamakan, you're hilarious. Oh what happened to you after Fractale bombed and you left the industry for a while.

So today I finished Toradora. I had low expectations going in but I found it was a pretty decent borderline good anime. I liked the character development, real life situations and Tsundereness to Taiga. My only fault was that the pacing was kinda slow.... Nice way to end off my Varsity Holiday.

I'm liking the Romantic Comedy genre quite a bit. Speaking of which, is Golden Time worth a watch?

@Not_A_Guest will like this (I think it was he who said it), I'm gonna check out Cowboy Bebop over the weekend :sly:

One more thing, is Samurai Champloo (In your chaps opinion of course) better in Dub or Sub? I borrowed the DVD from a mate long ago and watched it subbed however I couldn't finish it so I'm gonna try rewatch it soon.

It's been some time since I've last watched Golden Time, but as far as I can recall it wasn't half bad. It's just Banri fighting between his past and future selves since he got amnesia the time the show starts from.

Watched Samurai Champloo in subs. Didn't touch dub. But it's well-worth watching either way, since it was written by the same fellow who wrote Cowboy Bebop.

Tordadora is similar to Golden Watch.

Never watched Samurai Champloo in English.

Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama ****eiru is a whack show.

Edit: Shigatsu 22 END (no spoilers):

Without giving it much thought I think it's safe to give this show at least a 7/10. I may lean on a high 8, possibly 9?

It carefully wraps up the story and wastes little time doing so.

Edit Edit: I remembered some bits that I felt dragged out a bit too long. I'll settle on an 8.

Edit Edit Edit: Yes! Artgerm! <3

I'm not even sure who animated it and who published it because their MAL has so many entries in that category.
http://myanimelist.net/anime/19023/Wake_Up_Girls!

I thought it was TOHO because I saw their intro on the movie. I'm probably missing something.
I'm referring to this guy, the director. http://myanimelist.net/people/6655/Yamamoto_Yutaka He's also known as Yamakan. Ever wonder where the "saving anime" crap everyone spouts nowadays originated from? This guy. He had been frustrated with the current state of anime (IIRC he spoke about it plenty of times and became rather well-known for his feelings on the industry's state), and later got the series Fractale made, claiming it would save anime (Don't know if he actually said it, but he made it out to be like that). He also made a dare (As he was extremely confident and out of his 🤬 mind), if it failed, he would retire from the industry. And oh Fractale failed, it bombed so hard (It averaged 705 on disc). And what does the guy do for his first project after getting back into the industry? Make an anime about idols, one of the big trends going on with anime right now, the very things he was just criticizing! Fractale bombing really hit him hard, one has to wonder what he went through after the project he thought would save the industry did so bad, and wasn't well-received either.

On another note, I wonder how those folks making Under the Dog will feel if people don't like it. They've been REALLY spouting the "this will save anime!" nonsense.

(In case you couldn't tell, I'm really, really 🤬 tired of the "saving anime" thing. Give it a 🤬 rest people. "Space*Dandy will save anime!" "Kill la Kill will save anime!" "Parasyte will save anime!" etc.)

I think anime is alright in its current state if you simply take some time to find a diamond in the rough.
But yes, this "saving anime" nonsense needs to stop. And Under The Dog is going to sell well simply by merit of everybody already knowing about it.

EDIT: Finished Wake Up Girls. It was a nice run. I can't wait for the movie. Or is that a rumor?
Anyway, I think Yamakan criticized idols in their current state because the only depiction of them was that happy-go-lucky everything-goes-well sort of cutesy story and that it wasn't a very accurate representation of what actually happens in the entertainment industry. I'm not saying that WUG is a true-to-life depiction of idol life but surely someone doesn't just rocket up to success without any explanation (i.e. Idolmaster, Love Live?).

Dude, can you elaborate more on this or provide a link or something? This sounds impossibly silly and I'd like to know more about it.

Any time a "mature" looking anime comes out now, people hype it up and say how it's going to save anime. Because yes anime is so bad now, and EVERY "mature" series is a masterpiece, and will save the industry!

Heck also Google "Kill la Kill save anime" and you'll see quite a bit of what I'm talking about.

Also I'll leave this here, from the Under the Dog Kickstarter.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say that a Season or a few of Anime would be its saviour and not 1 show?

Kill la Kill was great but I wouldn't call it THE best, let alone the saviour of Anime

Dang, you can't hype anything anymore. Whether it's in games, movies, anime... Not that it's a bad thing. In fact, it's a very good thing..

Kill la Kill probably won't save anime because the Western populace would've prejudged KLK for the amount of exposed skin.

Which is pretty unfortunate. The "over-the-top"-ness is what made it enjoyable, at least IMO

Wow, that is an all-time low.
I would still watch Under the Dog if it'll go anywhere feasible

Kill la Kill may have "saved" the overall morale of what diehard otakus favour... or in other words, "prove the general populace in the anime comunity isn't all about idols and the other poop".

But Kill la Kill still isn't something one should show to everyone unfamiliar with anime.

Kill la Kill did NOT save anime. It still led to reactions like those for many.
