So with the Winter season of shows wrapping up, I thought I'd offer my thoughts in case anyone would like to binge them!

VQDw275.png

That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime!

Technically a Fall/Winter show that's only finally getting around to finishing. This was a lot of fun starting off but the whole time I couldn't help but think they were rushing through things, and the sentiments I read online seemed to prove that theory out. I can understand it though, because the show is not really dark and gritty, and thus wouldn't feel right if it was building suspense with characters' imminent mortality. It shines in the fun, humor and playing on Isekai tropes. Nevertheless, I would've preferred the whole second arc be completely set aside for another season as it felt way too brief and disconnected from the events of the first arc (or arcs?).

Despite that, I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for something light, fluffy and fun.

Sword Art Online: Alicization (Season 3)

I've enjoyed SAO from the beginning and didn't really experience the drop off in interest most have, although maybe it helps that it's also not*** the end-all, be-all anime for me. Season 3 has been pretty darn good but as the end all but wraps up (I believe there's at least one or two more episodes to go at the time of this writi
SPOILER!
SERIOUSLY SPOILER!!!
HOLY COW THAT'S THE CLIFF HANGER THEY ENDED THE SEASON ON?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Well Alicization was a definite refresh from the first two seasons and certainly enjoyable to watch. In the last few episodes I found myself wondering just what the heck was going on in the real world (it had been touched on at least every episode in the first half of the season) and they waited until the end to confirm that there definitely was stuff going on in the real world...

My Roommate is a Cat

Anime loves to have talking side kicks and interplay between protagonists and their fuzzy friends, but this is not one of those shows. Grounded in reality, it's a warm and fuzzy story that details the relationship between a young author and his cat and the way his furry friend changes his life for the better. It's split story telling leaves me wanting for more of Haru's perspective, but it's still worth a watch. Definitely recommend if you are fond of cats.

Domestic Girlfriend

This was definitely my guilty pleasure for the past few months. The premise: Guy goes out with his buddies on a group date and one of the girl's propositions him for activities. Guy also happens to have a crush on his teacher. Well, his dad gets remarried and it turns out the girl from the group date and his teacher are sisters and the daughters of his new step mom. They all live in the same house as a result. Oh boy.

This was definitely cringe worthy, but in the right ways. The ways that I suspect bored housewives cringe when watching juicy soap operas. I guess this is my soap opera? It's actually pretty well done and it doesn't leave you feeling dirty after watching like some anime can. Although you will certainly not be talking about this show with others...

Absolutely worth a watch if you like romantic anime.
Note: This show is brought to us by HiDive, but I watched it on VRV and gee golly whiz do HiDive's VRV subtitles suck.

The Magnificent Kotobuki

This is a hard one to recommend as I imagine it commits a few fatal fouls that some people might not be able to look past, but I still think it's worth a watch. It's apparently tied into a mobile game that will be coming out (foul 1), it's 3D (foul 2?) that's mixed with 2D (foul 3) and doesn't really offer a strong story or characters and relies mostly on cool airplanes, dog fights and cute girls doing cute things with a sprinkling of... *ahem* ample fan service if you know what I mean (although it doesn't lean on it!).

At the very least, skip to Episode 6 and start from the 5:20 mark and you'll see one of the best pieces of animated aerial acrobatics that's out there. I get goosebumps every time I watch it.

"Popcorn Anime" as I like to call it, you won't miss anything if you skip it.

YVAWtS8.png

The Quintessential Quintuplets

Another romantic anime with... "relative" closeness between the female protagonists. It's a harem anime through and through, but in this case, it's actually helped by the fact that the girls are all identical sisters as it avoids most of the trite cliches that rise with romantic rival interplay in these types of shows. Also helped is the fact that our male protagonist is not a walking, indecisive shell. All the characters get fairly developed for a 12 episode arc and I genuinely enjoyed the comedy aspects of this slice of 5x the chances life.

Well worth the watch if you've been craving a good harem anime, but don't expect Monster Musume with Sisters instead of Monster Girls as it's quite a bit more PG and fun than that and has a stronger story and characters. If anything, I'd liken it closer to Oregairu (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU), although it's not playing at that show's league.

Boogiepop and Others

A reboot of another anime that's adapted from the same source material (I was familiar with neither before watching this, though). This show had me hooked pretty early on and will be much, much, MUCH better for you guys to binge on as each episode is told in a very non-linear style and was incredibly confusing for me at first before the first story arc finished up. An absolute delight of a show although the last handful of episodes didn't have the same enthralling magic the first few did. I was also disappointed that they didn't go into more detail on some characters, including the title protagonist.

Definitely one of the best intros of the season for me, if not the best and all 18 episodes are almost a must-watch.

4MUyrUE.png

My other favorite intro, wow was I disappointed at how short this season was because it was eight episodes of excellence from Rooster Teeth. Cannot wait to see where this American mecha goes because it started off with a bang. It's baddies do feel under developed, though. Who are they fighting? Why? These are questions that I shouldn't have to wait another season for to answer!

GT0rsw8.png

The Promised Neverland

I had no idea what this show was all about going into it and neither should you. It's the best show of the season and needed another twelve episodes. You'll agree with me, just watch.

As the protagonists are all children, it might be difficult for some to relate and also stretches the maturity capable of an 11 year old. Nevertheless, the show draws parallels to another hit anime from recent memory and really does a great job of capturing the same sense of building mystery and suspense. Perhaps it signals the creation of a new genre?

To those of you who have watched it, no spoiling it for others!

And that wraps it up! I'm looking forward to One Punch Man season 2 and the second half of Attack on Titan season 3 as well as any other hidden gems that are coming up in the following months! I'm also looking forward to the second halves of Mob Psycho 100 II and Rising of the Shield Hero which have been the highlights of my week in terms of viewing.

Such a neat post! 👍 Like how you put titles before synopsis and impressions.

Alright now here is my short (quite) impressions :

Mob Psycho II

Definitely a step up from first season. :D Got a plenty character development and more challenging plot. Can't wait for the finale this is going to be a wild ride. :embarrassed:

Kakegurui XX

There is significant improvement compared to last season although not by much. Had few of nice surprise and twist near the end. Same enjoyment as the first season to what I felt. Still, can't wait to see Yumeko and Kirari gambling each other again (it will be a long wait...)

The Promised Neverland

This show ends with a bang! Definitely must watch and one of the best anime this season. If you looking for thrill, suspense story with puzzle solving mystery, heartbreaking drama and shocking plot twist this is one to watch. The sequel will released around 2020 and thus I will happily wait for it. 👍

Dororo

This one had 24 episodes and first cour just finished. From what I've seen and knew this adaptation taking slightly different path than the original, but still keeping the main elements from the original to make it fresh and enjoyable for young audience. The overall production quality is pretty good, what I like the most is the sound design sounded crisp and clear. Story wise it goes episodic, felt like watching older anime from the past. Next week would be the start of second cour and things already warming up and I will looking forward until the show is finished.

Date A Live III

Alright... I don't know how to say but this season show wasn't a solid production. :indiff:Often the character drawings were just fine but in certain scenes it went downgrade and not quite proportional, other aspect were sub par. However, it was far from disaster since the story and plot are quite decent. As regular harem show it has light fanservice as standard and this season they had some but not quite disturbing in my opinion (well until you see the final episode...:scared:). Wasn't the best Date A Live adaptation ever had but that doesn't mean it is not worthy. Fans had been waiting for years to wait another season and this what we had after the original studio goes bankrupt. Seeing how difficult and troubled to make this happened I should appreciate J.C.Staff to take a chance to adapt the third installment even though it isn't met with our expectations but at least they can finished it. Not sure if there will be more seasons in the future but for now it is enough I guess.

That's it folks. Now move on to next season, curious what Spring would bring to all of us.

So I thought this was due for another cour but apparently I was wrong so here's my review for this as well (for both seasons):

Mob_Psycho_100_logo.png

Mob Psycho 100 (I and II)

Probably the best shonen show on the waves out there right now that isn't called My Hero Academia. Perfect mix of humor and action, entertaining from start to last. ONE has proven he(?) knows what he's doing as this and One Punch Man are excellent.

If you love action and comedy Anime, this is the best there is. Gave a strong showing for best intro of the season as well and, along with The Promised Neverland, are my two must-watch recommendations of the season.

Not doing this for a while so now here is my anime-cars related pics drop as usual, this time with short captions for each pics :

So I was watching the first episode of Hitoribocchi no ○○ Seikatsu, and...

Why are there more European cars in Japan than Japanese?!

Most of anime got them fine so I kinda baffled with this one. Maybe production time is limited and they decided to use any 3D assets available. Could well be design direction but I doubt it.

By the way, I will give my Spring season first impressions later on. For now, here are some pics :

My god Episode 6 of Kaguya-sama was fun to watch. Miyuki's overly-complicated way to handle hand-holding was hilarious, but Fujiwara really brings out the most amount of fun each time.

Okay this show ended as expected, but it was still a meh ending.

Promised Neverland had good build up, but the ending felt like it could've used a bit more:

I like that it was revealed that Mom too wanted to escape but never mustered enough courage to do so; hence accepted the outcome, but I would've wanted the realization of that to come much later, because she was given enough material to be the one to go to great lengths to ensure the kids escape doesn't succeed. I would've like to see Mom carry her antagonist role into the next season (which has already been announced BTW), to give us more to look forward to.

Basically now it's a clean slate with all the kids making their way out of the confines of the farm. We don't yet have an antagonist or defined objective, aside from them scoping out the world, playing safe and laying low, so 2nd season may take off with a weaker start than S1.

Hello guys,

I am trying to figure out how the Initial D series is structured and I am having a very hard time. I just bought the first 2 DVD sets:

I figured out that Stage 1 comes in 2 boxsets. What I don't understand is where to go from here. Does anyone of you guys and girls know in which order I should get the rest?

Regards,

A while ago i watched the entire season 2 of Bang Dream, and did not disappoint.
It's entirely in CG, but it's not that bad and the songs are great.
And Moca is best grill, don't @ me

Finally went and watched Kizumonogatari 3, way later than I'd planned.

That battle scene was the best. And so is Hanekawa. (Not to mention the EDs for the entire trilogy.)

Easy 10/10.

I don't know about the Monogatari series; is it good?

Been a while since my last post in this thread. Well... looks like this Spring season isn't suit with my preferences... I only have watched 3 titles currently. Maybe some of you know there is fuzz regarding S2 of One Punch Man and I was like a bit losing my interest atm, though I still planned to watch it later. I also still following last season's Dororo and there is Carole & Tuesday which gave a shed of light this season solely because Shinichi Watanabe has done it again lol. :D

Speaking of Carole and Tuesday they actually had existing Instagram account so you can follow and see their activities which taken from certain episode scenes. Like this one for example :

Pretty cool idea to promote your anime IRL don't you guys think? :sly:

And then, as usual here some pic drop :

Btw I would like to give some recommendation for those who interested. I have downloaded Japanese only app called CustomCast while ago, available on both Google Play and Apple Store. To do that you need VPN to connect to Japan server and search for it (written like this キャスタキャスト). It is basically an avatar (well, waifu) creator app where you can make your own character and it is also support live stream so basically you can be a virtual Youtuber by yourself. Here are some example of my creations :

20190223111942.png

Pretty good app when you had enough spare time also you can play it offline and your data will be saved without internet connection. You might need to adapt first because all command is in Japanese but it is quite intuitive so you will get used to it. 👍

To be honest this is not endorsement kind of stuff but I thought some of us here should know and might interested to try this.
