I know I'm basically talking to myself every time I mention a certain "G" word, but the new series was announced (last month, but I'm just reading about it today) and I know not what to think of it. They're not trying to ride off of the success that was 00, but this new premise is kind of rubbing me the wrong way. Starts in October, and while the PV looked interesting, some of the character designs look laughable...especially this dude:

Okay. Gundam AGE is what the new series is going to be called. It's a collaboration between Level 5 and Sunrise. The former being a video game developer...I don't know what to think of that either.

I see. I was done with Gundam after SEED.... so I don't have a clue how much more worse it has gotten.

Understandable.

But they redeemed themselves with 00 and UC, now they're doing a series where the mobile suit has the distinct ability to self-evolve pertinent to combat experience...or whatever the hell. That idea only worked in G Gundam because it was wacky anyway (and I loved it for that reason) but this...no. I'll give it a go but if it feels too much like SEED or SEED Destiny this will be the third (I never even gave Destiny a chance; I did watch the first episode a while back and regret it dearly) Gundam series that I've wanted nothing to do with.

The mecha designs look interesting though and at least the characters don't all look eerily alike...like they do in SEED/SEED Destiny.
