Looked at Black Butler on MAL, seems to be very love/hate. Of course there's the "OMG WHERE TO STAR-" reviews. And then there was hateful ones that focused on the shota and yaoi undertones(Which I can understand, it seems fairly prominent at the current time) and then some focusing on how it 🤬 off from the manga. There were also some good reviews that were legible, so I have mixed expectations for this show.

A thing to note with MAL reviews is many people are too positive. There are many that go "Best anime I've ever seen, I'm going to review it like it's the whole show after episode 1.". I mean look at this, this makes me laugh.

Show isn't worthy of 10/10's, 9/10's, it's a 6/10 show. The moe is pretty much the only thing it has going for it, the story is incredibly weak.

Especially when that show is heavily desired. I mean, look at this.

The minute the anime goes back in print, top-seller immediately within days of being solicited for pre-orders. FUNimation has tried to license-rescue it, but dealing with Toei Animation who knows they're sitting on a massive cash cow, it's going to be tough. Especially with licensing costs that probably rival One Piece.

The manga has been on the New York Times Manga Best-Seller list for weeks ever since Kodansha USA (American branch to the publisher of the manga in Japan, Kodanansha.) brought it back (An announcement that caused massive cheering.), and they had to do another print run for volume 1 IIRC. So much news that shows how popular it is.
