The Great Big GTP Car Recommendation Thread

Alright, so I've had GT6 for quite a while now, and I came up with this idea. This will be a thread to promote certain cars in the game to get other people to experience the little hidden secret gems that GT offers. It doesn't have to be that quirky car no one has heard of either. This thread is not limited to certain cars, no, every car is welcome! Share the love you have for that one model that melted your heart, and I will update the OP with your suggestions, so everyone gets to share their love with each other! There are certain rules to posting, though, which I will explain below:

-You can only post ONE car at a time. So no huge lists please as to keep it the thread from clogging up.
-You MUST state why the car is recommended by you. Otherwise I'm not going to add it to the list. This ain't so bad, is it?
-Please refrain from large discussions about other people's opinions. This is supposed to be a friendly thread. Criticizing other people's suggestions is of course allowed, but please keep it civil and clean. Sometimes adding your own suggestion is better than slamming someone else's.
-Cars can of course also be tuned, but state that it that's the case and also make clear why it should be tuned a certain way.
-
Please try and keep this thread on topic.
-I will not update the OP with photo's. It is, however, allowed to suggest a car along with a photo. However, please keep it to one photo, or two photo's max. This will keep the thread from overbloating.

I will add the first car on the list as to add an example. Let's make this a beautiful, inspiration thread people! :gtpflag:

Anyway, on with the posting!

GTP Approved List Of Recommended Cars:

  • Pagani Zonda R: The sound, the feeling, the grip, the power, the speed, the EVERYTHING! Everything about this car screams perfection to the highest level! Drove it to death in GT5 and it still is one of my favourite cars!
  • Clio RS '11 (Multiple Recommendations): Excellent handling, you can chuck it into any corner at any speed at it just takes it in its stride! Engine is fantastic and there is a great satisfaction in keeping it north of 6000rpm in order to get the best out of it. Responds very well to some mild tuning (mine had gone from ~200bhp and 1240kg to ~230bhp and ~1140kg), it is like a little touring car! :D (The one disadvantage is that it looks like a frog from the front, but that is soon overlooked once you have driven it in anger :dopey:)
  • Ferrari 365 GTB4: at Cote d'Azur (even if it's a PS2 era track, I must recommend it for this specific car)... simply magnificent. Just leave it stock, immaculate and go for a ride on a nice stretch of road. Change gears slowly and enjoy the moment, the engine noise is pretty good (it lacks a bit of bass, but at lower revs it's good enough). I'm loving it, the best 550k I've spent in GT6 until now and I don't regret. Plus, it makes a really good racer too when you want to race with classics. (You'll be mad when the paint get scratched tho.)
  • Subaru BRZ: It's cheap, fast and fun.
Had very competitive races, running more or less 100 pp's under the limitations, and it was fun to slowly buy parts for it.
  • Alfa TZ3 stradalle: It's a dream car - you can take it to polyphony trophy for untuned cars, provided that you reduce the engine power to meet PP requirement.
  • Ferrari Dino: It is pretty lightweight and goes like a rocket. And the turning! You can shred through corners without even dropping in speed. It feels as if you're wearing Racing Softs, but in reality, you don't need Racing Softs because the car handles so freakin' well.
  • Honda NSX Type R (2002): It's a good mr car, the engine is great, the chassis is awesome and the feelings that you get from the steering wheel when you take corners is just insane, I totally recommend it, it costs a few bucks and you will have a true samurai in your garage.
  • Mclaren F1 GTR BMW (Kokusai Kaihatsu UK Racing) '95: For the Dream Car Championship (IA). This car corners faster than most cars in that competition. For 1,750,000 CR you'll win it with ease and style. SRF not included.
  • Dodge Viper SRT 15th Anniversary: On Laguna Seca. It was one of the first cars I chose simply to get the AI Races out of the way, but no car in GT5 has ever given me a precise rewarding experience at the Seca, other than the Formula 1 car. Highly recommended you try this rail car out. you can make it oversteer with your mind, if you want to, it's that edgy.
  • RUF Yellowbird: With its RR drivetrain layout, understeer is never an issue with this car. Although its top speed is well above the 300 km/h mark, the small and twisting tracks is where it fully blooms. With the unique handling characteristics it possesses, you'll never have a dull moment behind the wheel. Oh, and it has also got a license plate. That says P 911. :D

To the mods: feel free to edit this thread or move it any way you guys like. Please do not refrain from giving me tips, suggestions and critique. This goes for everyone else too, by the way.

Oh, and happy holidays, dear members of :gtplanet:!

For Begginer, National A, B and Internac. B so far I recommend the Subaru BRZ I bought - it's cheap, fast and fun.
Had very competitive races, running more or less 100 pp's under the limitations, and it was fun to slowly buy parts for it.

On the wild side, I recommend the Alfa TZ3 stradalle - it's a dream car - you can take it to polyphony trophy for untuned cars, provided that you reduce the engine power to meet PP requirement.

For 450PP racing, nothing gets better than a Ferrari Dino. It is pretty lightweight and goes like a rocket. And the turning! You can shred through corners without even dropping in speed. It feels as if you're wearing Racing Softs, but in reality, you don't need Racing Softs because the car handles so freakin' well.

I recommend the
Mclaren F1 GTR BMW (Kokusai Kaihatsu UK Racing) '95 618PP
for the Dream Car Championship (IA). This car corners faster than most cars in that competition. For 1,750,000 CR you'll win it with ease and style. SRF not included.

I don't think that car's in GT6?

Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition
A few more ponies and fixed aero bits sets it a part from the original. Handling is superb, keep revs high and just enjoy the sweet symphony of the 10 piston orchestra.

Light Car Company Rocket:

One of the first cars shown for GT6, the Rocket got little hype before the game was launched. After the launch, people quickly discover it to be a real gem of a car. Cost of only 100,000 credit or win it after the first set of Goodwood events, made the Rocket a giant killer with low curb weight (390 kg) and cornering ability like no other.

As far as I know PP wise, some new cars that impressed me:

Ferrari Dino, very fast around 450PP
Ferrari 250 GTO, insanely fast on the straights (500-550PP)
Mazda RX500, amazing cornering speed and good straight speed aswell (500-550PP)
BMW 507, reminds me of the Dino, fast car around 450PP

Toyota FT 86 "Racing" '13 - Superb handling, strong engine, fantastic cornering speed, cheap and able to enter (and win) many races. Terrific value for money!

Renault R8 Gordini - A RR car that isn't derived from a VW, this thing comes on racing hards so swap those out for either comfort softs or sport hards. Bags of fun on tight twisty tracks due to it's lightweight (850kg) and unique handling (requires good throttle control and a knowledge of RR platforms to get the most out of it) added to what I believe is a fairly unique engine sound (DO NOT PUT THE RACE EXHAUST ON!) this makes for a fun driving experience.

If you want to properly take it racing I found it also handles mods quite well (pushing 160hp and weighing only 760kg it was still a fun drive and not undriveable) so it's actually a capable car too.

The Pozzi Motorsport Camaro, it's fantastic. I haven't got a shot of it coming down The Mountain... but that's where it seems to feel at home. Epic car! :)

A little different from the rest of the posts as this car really on has one use FOR ME but the Mazda Autozam is a great place to start learning how to drift with a Dualshock, fully tuned with decent suspension setup and its a fun little car to throw around the track!

Audi TTS. This little buggy has one of the widest ranges of capability in the game. Starts out stock as a decent sub 500pp buggy. Tune out the understeer with a decent suspension setup and it turns into a very agile alternative to the WRX and EVO brigade in the 4wd races. Turn up the power, add aero, move the drive bias to the rear wheels and it is one of the easiest cars to drive fast in the game. Throw some rally gear on it and bring out the ghost of Audi Quattro past.

Shelby Cobra: brute force, no tech, pure classic automotive bliss. It is light, huge engine, huge tires, lethally fast... Literally. With a proper transmission and suspension setup it will hang with anything... If you can keep it on the track or the tires from melting :-) This is the car to pull out when you think you have GT licked. Take this bad boy out on sports hard with no aides and flog it. If you can keep it on the track at 9-10/10ths you can safely say you know what you are doing.

Honda Element: If you want a cheap 4WD off-road car, I can recommend it. Get a fully customizable suspension and raise it to max and you're good to go. There are some pretty nice off-road areas at Willow Springs...

Ford GT LM II Race Car. At 1.800.000 its definetely not cheap but still has its cons. Without any tuning you get an awesome car. Its cornering is marvellous. So slick, fast and tamed. İts pure joy to race with this.
