Btw, this is the last time I post anything that is not my final entry in the topic, just to be on the safe side.

Agreed. There's no such thing as a simple discussion and last I remembered, it was opinion that we put across but whatever.

I'd have to change, or pull me entry if the Porsche isn't valid. Mine was based on a BMW M1 livery.

I've changed my entry.

The thing is though, @Strax wasn't "telling." He was being trying to be helpful in indicating that your livery might have fallen foul of the rules. You then didn't need to go off on an irrelevant rant about what a split livery was, and who owns Castrol.
I know full well he was trying to be helpful and never took issue with that. He mentioned that @Noisy should be the one telling and I agreed with him. @Noisy still has yet to tell anyone anything.

I am prone to long winded posts and do not appreciate them being dismissed as rants, especially when I felt it was very relevant because @Noisy has set out some rules that are obviously conflicting opinions.

I wanted to show that what I had done was no different than what is done in real life, albeit asymmetrically. I wanted to provide sufficient evidence for my argument for my livery being within the rules. Not because I wanted to prove anyone wrong, but because the burden of proof to support my case lies on me. I will not make abbreviated remarks telling people to "go look it up".

If others want to take issue with that, then we'll chalk it up to the fickleness of tone via text.

@machine1121 thanx for your nice comment,

I think this is my favorite livery, but I can see your concerns with it being a split livery. I'm concerned mine is just a diagonal color swap, but I entered it anyway.

Here are some pictures from different sides of the Audi I put it in the spoiler to not annoy others. (this car will not compete)

@Snaeper Perhaps I read a tone that wasn't there, but any discussion about what constitutes a split livery is irrelevant until @Noisy appears. It's his definition of a split livery that we need right now.

@Snaeper I also can imagine that the explanation could be interpreted as a bit offensive. But a good discussion has always two sides.

I agree with @daan, that's why I posted the Audi livery so that it could be made more clear to all of us.

Maybe we should extend the date to get more liveries to compete in this competition!

Sorry everyone for my silence over the past few days. IRL problems have taken over the past few days and I haven't been able to manage this competition at all so far. After seeing some of the debate, I'm going to go through the rules and clarify on what isn't allowed.

- Livery must be noticeably different in design on drivers and passenger side of the car. - The main rule of the competition and one which has had little to no debate. Noticeably different means doing more than just adding an extra stripe to one side, it should be easy to notice the difference on each side.

- No simple colour swaps between sides (so no red text on white background in one side and white text on red background on the other). - This rule was made to stop people creating a normal livery and then changing the colours to get around the asymmetric rules. It does not stop a design being different colours on each side if enough effort is put in and it can be seen to still be part of a continuous design.

- No split designs i.e. 1999 BAR F1 influenced designs. -
This rule was made to stop people putting two separate liveries on the same car. This does not mean that there can't be multiple main sponsors on the same car however if the two sides are not related in some way then it would be deemed a split livery.

- Sponsor logos and number plates can be symmetric.
- Pretty self explanatory. Sponsors and number plates are exempt from the rules.

I think people think these rules are stricter than they actually are. I don't want to stifle anyone's creativity and if the design is borderline then I would give the benefit of the doubt but do realise there is a limit. I will be making another post later today mentioning any entries that I do think has crossed the rules. And again apologies for my silence and any confusion I've caused.

I realize its probably against the rules posting a WIP livery but as is usually the case the rules are somewhat contentious each week it would seem and I don't fancy spending hours on something only to find it not adhering to the rules of the week, So I'll put it in a spoiler below and delete once I've got confirmation that it will be eligible for the week.

I’m sorry but this a symmetrical livery with different sponsors. You can keep the idea for the sponsors as it’s funny, but you can’t keep the red/white symmetrical design.

But its all one sponsor, Harry's bar offers Liquor and Poker :sly: So if the red were split into a different colour for each side it would be good to go?

I'm afraid it won't be enough, sorry :

UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS:

Forget the words. Forget the beer. Forget the cards. The livery design is clearly symmetrical.

I've been waiting for this beast for a long time. So glad he's finally here. I went for a retro stripe, felt it suited this car the best. I practiced the livery style here first, and even though I liked the traditional race stripe and sponsor setup I felt I should stick to my brand. good times. great theme.
