FINAL ENTRY

FINAL ENTRY

Mercedes-Benz Original-Teile AMG GT3

These liveries are obscene. I'm reporting you both to moderators!!!

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

For real, insane work @Cytoria and @Raphaele and only having one real vote this week will be a nightmare

Even without these two, I think it’s worth questioning.

It’s been a while since we got so many entries (37 so far!) so for this time, do you want to have more choices for the poll?

4, 5, or stay with 3 as usual?

And thanks everyone for your feedback :embarrassed:

Well, for the contest it's better to stay with 3 votes.
But to honour the ones who always put effort in their liveries and often get only one or two votes each contest, I think it would be great to mention other liveries other than the top talents ! I think I've some favourites this round who'm I think won't win it over the top liveries we've seen this round.

Maybe a better idea.. Stay with 3 votes ( :D ) and make it to two semi-finals, A and B (19 - 18), and a final between the top 5 of semi Final of A and B ?

Yeah I think three votes is fair, I think it's just that the level of competition this round was really god-damn high, before you and Raphy decided to step it up to another level.

Maybe the poll thread this round will be an even better place to shout out liveries you liked but physically couldn't vote for?

Well, this is incredible, well done my friend, it's truly a remarkable effort!! Not sure I can vote for you, it feels like voting for Lionel Messi as man of the match when he turns up for a juniors 5 a-side :D

1 question, what are your settings for the scapes images, is it white sands, I just can't get my images to pop as yours do?

FINAL ENTRY

I have updated my entry, I'd prefer not to have two Williams entries (especially as I wasn't happy with my entry anyway!), and I think that the number board wasn't in compliance with the rules. I also forgot to take bonus shots that met the rules. My apologies.

Please can we have 5 votes

I think we should stay with 3 votes. The more vote choices you add, I feel devalues the choices.
It sucks when you don't get any votes, been there, but that should motivate you to try harder next time.

It reminds me of when my wife and I used to enter car shows, with a truck, that we both had put a lot of time into. We won a lot of trophies with it, but there were a couple shows toward the end, that would hand out "winner trophies", and once all the class winners were awarded, they asked... "Did anybody not get a trophy, come on up". We stopped going to car shows hosted by that group. They were too afraid somebody was going to get their feelings hurt, so everybody got a trophy. Made that "winning trophy" worthless.

You got to have losers, in order to have winners.

Sorry, that turned into more of a rant, than I intended.

Agreed. It's a fight for third at this point and I think increasing the number of votes only leads to a higher chance of a split 3rd position.

I'm leaning towards having 5 votes for this competition's voting thread given the large turnout.

A suggestion I have for future LECs is if the entries go above a certain number (like 35 for example) people get 5 votes to give out.

Still keep the 3 votes limit unless a theme draws a large turnout.

The more I look at both you'res and @Cytoria entries the less I understand how you're able to put the decals together to make these liveries work. I understand the concept of making SVG's but have totally failed in all attempts at even the most basic of shapes/images...
You will have to dive deeply into the unknown world of vector graphics. You will have to use adequate vector tools. You will have to ask for help. And you will grow with your challenge.

I have mixed feelings about the votes.

Although I do agree that we don’t want « everyone » to win, I’ll say that 5 votes for 37 entries are still more diluted than 3 for 20.

And if there is really 2 entries to stand out, then people will have only one vote for 35 entries left, OR, they will vote strategically for 3 others, thinking « they will have enough », and those will not receive the real amount of votes they could have.

Anyway, in the spirit of this community, I’ve launched a quick poll to follow your will :

QUICK POLL: How many votes for the LEC 42?

OR, they will vote strategically for 3 others, thinking « they will have enough », and those will not receive the real amount of votes they could have.
I totally agree with that point, I could vote for your amazing work or want to give a point to someone else who deserve it to my opinion.

Is this still open for entries?
Just curious because I thouth the deadline was yesterday.
I won’t be able to launch the poll before Friday evening so feel free to update your liveries/pictures.

And if someone want to use the delay to post an entry, I’m fine too.

@SouperK great job! Achieving the mask of such thin and precise lines, on a Gr.1 car, well done!

What are your settings for the scapes images, is it white sands, I just can't get my images to pop as yours do?
It is indeed White Sands as Shiretoko is less attractive for special colours.

I’ve boosted EV to +1,2.
The background mask is the same as the OP.
Settings of the car mask : Saturation 115, Brightness 150, Contrast 120, Black correction -3.

Also color temperature 6000K and chromatic correction 0,065 to get rid of the yellowish lighting (but not efficient enough).

The key feature for the hood decal is duplicate/replace. Without this, the different parts and layers wouldn’t be perfectly aligned when stacked.

I did the hood decal set in Inkscape twice (not including the one I tried for my first attempt) because I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the first batch. Then I can’t count how many times I placed/sized/scaled the set on the hood. And as you couldn’t see the result until the last layer, that means 22 decals to place each time :banghead:.

I know Inkscape better now, but the key for the hood was quantity : the more parts I have, the more details they can contain. The automated scan of the hood picture gave me a 500kB decal after going through SVGOMG, then I manually deleted nodes and sliced them to fit the 15kB limit.

The main pattern was tricky too. As I said, I needed to find enough boxes to create the pattern and to understand how it was imbricated. To be sure that this was completed I made the full paving, then selected the shapes individually to respect the 15kB size again.

I even made a cut version, in case I wanted to have the pattern in silver, but it eventually looked better the other way round, with transparent decals keeping the Aluminium shine of the body.

It's an insane amount of work and the quality is incredible. I think when I'm done with Death Stranding I need to sit down and start to figure out how I can just create images and import them to GTS myself before I even come up with ones to use specifically on a car
